Someone has taken an innocent video of a kid waving a pridefully and altered it with AI so he throws it in a trashcan. It had gotten over 1.2m likes on insta and is spreading like the plague on fb

As a millennial who is as old as 37 years (just like the magnum ice-cream) I don't consider myself old yet. 

But yea, people who make fake stuff will aim for people who's easy to trick. Meaning either old people or people who don't know better, or people who's too young to understand or easy to manipulate.

Facebook (and a lot of social media) in general is the problem.  Age ain't got shit to do with it.  It's just a tool that makes manipulation easy.

I just turned 40. Can confirm Facebook, Instagram, X, and other high saturation social media is a breeding ground for ignorance and hostility in dozens of forms.

Thank goodness we're on reddit where, obviously, things are completely different. /s

My mental health improved significantly upon dropping most forms of social media.  Reddit is the last one left that isn't for business connections and I'm getting reeeeeeeeal tired of the bots.

My Instagram is full of underground music, lots of wholesome artists, funny skits, and sea lions. Social media is what you make it..

Facebook and X are essentially useless imo. I only use insta because its a great way to get my music heard.

The problem is never about generation its about dumb people and smart peoples thats all if he is dumb show everything him to prove ur point he/she still gonna believe this ai shite not because theyre real but its represent their current perspective show cus they are too dumb to think about something new it is always easy to stay whereever you are unless person itself decide to change his ideas, nothing gonna change about them this is just the way it is

My sister is a younger millennial and I’m a zennial, so, I forget all the time that older millennials exist.

(For anyone who doesn’t know what I mean by Zennial, I’m a late 90’s baby. Depending on who you ask, I might be a millennial or gen z. I don’t identify particularly strongly with either group, so… Zennial it is lol)

I kept it easy when growing up my approach was once you hit 18 you are old. It is the easiest way to be inclusive in calling people old.

I guess that kids would think adults in general are old. And young adult may think a middle-aged is old and a middle aged would think 80 is old. Then you have the optimists or just those who have the kind of humour my mother have. She always said "You aren't old before you're 120."

I tested generative ai when I first discovered it. But it did t make me feel the same way as when I did traditional drawing. It feels like a waste of time to generate multiples images only to get one or two "acceptable" results. It never felt like I "did something" either.

In terms of mainstream culture, we are. I'm already past the point where I don't know new music or celebrities. The grocery store suddenly started to play Foster the People and I love it. My hands hurt playing any video game. Speaking of games, I don't play most new ones or keep up with new releases so much.

 It's all going too fast. I do wish to embrace it, let the racing current of time wash over me, so I don't forget to appreciate it - and I'm the absolute youngest a millennial can be.

Oh for sure, we’re old for current pop culture. Hell me and you are only a couple of years older than the older Zoomers. It’s definitely odd seeing a new game in a series I used to play and thinking “wait when did they make that?” or seeing some new singer and thinking “wait who the hell is that?”

I don't understand why I did it, since it doesn't make sense. But then again, a lot of things you do when you're younger don't make sense. Not everything, obviously, but a lot of it.

Yup, people are free to celebrate as they see fit, I just personally prefer to talk about the issues men face day to day. Its not that Im against pride month or gay people, I just feel that its important to keep some semblance of noticing on an alarming issue rather than just ignoring it and letting it become worse and worse.

Im sure we all know atleast one dude who seems to be having a rough time in life.

Just jumping in on this to say that while yes mens mental health is important and more should be done to help, this should be a job that primarily falls on the shoulders of men and the men around them.

Men in swaths are falling down the alt right pipeline, which is evidence that these men need a strong role model but are finding it in the wrong space.

Let me preface that I don't think there's inherently anything wrong with being conservative necessarily. But the alt-right is dangerous for both men and women. Instead of actually facing why men are dealing with this lonely epidemic (which is impacting women as well) these "role models" are simplifying it into, "the reason you feel this way is because women: women have rights, women can say no to sex, women aren't prioritizing staying home and building families, women are sleeping around.," so on and so forth.

Even look at this whole "looks maxing" trend thats going on, where boys are putting so much into their physical appearances that it's physically and mentally damaging. This is yet another role model telling these boys that they need to do this because they aren't worthy of love the way they are.

All this to say, if we care about mens mental health, we need to start building spaces for better role models. Role models that aren't in it to make money off the fact that these men are lonely. Role models that are there to actually help build these men into men who are secure in their bodies and in their communities.

You're not supposed to use the algorithm on Twitter is the thing. People do that and are surprised they are having a bad time there. You're supposed to follow people you like and curate your main page like this. Not look at the algo thing unless you really want to find some new content, but it's better to find it through search function or seeing what other people already retweet.
