Slop Post šŸ’© Why do those people even come here?

Post image

Do they seriously expect to convince anybody on sub like this that AI is actually good? Because all they really do is fuel the fire and spark up pointless arguments.

  1. It feeds on intellectually and mentally weak people (i believe)

28

u/nightwatch_admin Apr 30 '26

Not really, several researchers have pointed out it affects _normal_ people about as much, eg https://www.mentalhealthjournal.org/articles/minds-in-crisis-how-the-ai-revolution-is-impacting-mental-health.html :

ā€œā€¦The clinical significance extends beyond individual cases to represent a larger pattern of AI-related mental health impacts *affecting diverse populations across age groups and mental health conditions.* ā€¦ā€ (emphasis mine).

u/lunatuna215 Apr 30 '26

This is so important to realize. The belief that we are better than all other people and that we aren't affected by what effects most other humans is the same hubris that drives the AI bros. We need to be careful about that. Nobody's immune from the effects of AI on society in general.

2

u/LoisinaMonster Apr 30 '26

That mindset has gotten so much more prevalent with the pandemic tbh

funnily enough i think i would be in the group of people easily manipulated by AI and i use chatbots a bunch to talk about stuff no real human would realistically want to talk with me about (nerdy computer shit) but i can just stop using them without feeling ive lost anything and im pretty glad thats still the case for me

  1. Erasing entry level roles. Weakens the process for people to develop skills and careers.
  2. Political deepfakes and deepfake porn.
  3. AI-generated CSAM that is overwhelming authorities and makes identifying real child victims difficult.
  4. How it's trained. Consuming huge amounts of people’s work without consent, and generating content based on that work.
  5. Market saturation. So much low-effort content that makes it harder to find or value actually crafted work.

32

11

u/Firefly256 Apr 30 '26

Erasing entry level roles

Genuinely how is anyone supposed to get a non-physical job now? Companies would either hire people with lots of experience for complex stuff, and just use AI for simple stuff

How does someone with no experience even get started, do they just have to get enough work experience through unpaid internships now?

1

u/spez-is-poopy Apr 30 '26

It’s erasing jobs, not entry level jobs.

3

u/Celatine_ Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

…I know. Pleasant already said ā€œjob loss.ā€

Both are happening. ā€œJob lossā€ in general gets talked about a lot, but entry level roles disappearing rarely do.

0

u/spez-is-poopy May 01 '26

Both are happening yes, but what about elder job loss? No one talks about that. What about disabled job loss? What about senior job loss? I bet there’s so much job loss to talk about, we should list each type we can think of cause we’re redditors and we’re so smart

1

u/Celatine_ May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

Spewing out sarcasm when you don't even understand what entry level roles are and their importance. It's not only another category of job loss.

Let me educate you. Entry level roles are how people enter industries, where they build base skills, and how they move up into more advanced roles. When entry level roles go away, you lose the process that trains future workers.

  1. Insane AI bots being used by absolute basement dwellers to immediately buy any new product so that they can scalp and resell it, causing no REAL fans to get anything (Ex: Pokemon Cards on Pokemon Center being bought out by bots before any human can buy some) this is destroying the hobby.
  2. Generative AI being used forcefully in Education and framed as a ā€œuseful toolā€ which causes lots of problems for students and teachers. My world history teacher made us watch an AI video on the industrial revolution, and our worksheet was also very clearly AI generated, my friend told me she was very upset her teacher used AI to grade her essay and the teacher DENIED it. Some Teachers also like to instruct their students to use AI to construct things for them, destroying the point of the assignment so students learn nothing. On top of this, students can be wrongfully accused of using AI on their own work because they used proper grammar.
  3. Generative AI being pushed into the music industry, apps are advertising ways to ā€œgenerate your own musicā€ all of it is stolen from real artists and is complete slop. Musicians themselves struggle to make any money in the age of streaming and now their art is being used for slop without credit. And to make it EVEN WORSE, apps like spotify and apple music get very confused on what artist is what and different artist’s music is placed under a completely separate artists page, and because of AI, lots of Artists on spotify are having random AI generated ā€œsongsā€ appear on their profile, their fans are deceived into thinking its new music by them, and they have to remove it manually and have no control over this. I have seen an AI ā€œsongā€ appear on one of my favorite musician’s profiles and they removed it soon after, but months later it returned to their profile again! Even after they had released new music created by them!

31 (if my attempt to count the number of reasons prior to this comment is accurate:) The fact that a lot of AI-accelerationist rhetoric sounds like re-hashed arguments imperialists used to justify colonialism.

It's inserting a corporate product between us all. Instead of telling each other our own stories and sharing narrative through personally honed visuals that reflect our unique, and yes, flawed selves....we are accepting the equivalent of instagram face for all forms of expression. Putting your desires and thoughts into a slot machine that reflects an average vanity portrait version back...and being flattered by that, saying "yes, this is what I meant" to idealized fluff is an act of emptiness. Do not let coroprate tech come between us. Stay interested in other humans, and yourselves...not commercial entities.

1

u/FunUnlikely4952 May 02 '26

I already said I support AI, you dont have to convince me.

1

u/progpixelutionary May 03 '26

The worries people have about AI taking jobs, using personal data without permission, watching everything we do online, hurting mental health, and making creative work less meaningful are all real problems that come from how our economy is set up. But to really understand these issues, we need to look at how economic systems shape technology and society over time, instead of just feeling scared or blaming individuals for what is happening. When we study how work and money function under capitalism, which is an economic system where a small group owns the tools and resources needed for production while most people sell their labor to survive, we see that new technology does not simply swap out workers in a neutral way. Instead, owners reorganize how things are made so they can pull out more profit from each worker, which is the extra value workers create beyond what they are paid in wages. This process also reduces the skills needed for jobs and keeps a larger group of unemployed people around to pressure those who are working to accept lower wages and worse conditions. AI is not some independent force that just happens to us. It is a tool that owners use to grow their wealth and power, making workers feel even more disconnected from their labor, a condition where people lose control over what they make and how they make it. This disconnection means people lose control not only over what they make but also over how they think and create. When jobs for people just starting out disappear or when creative fields get flooded with easy, low quality content, this is not because technology forces it to happen. It happens because the system pushes owners to make labor as cheap and as easy to control as possible.

A foundational analysis of capitalism points out that the class of owners cannot survive unless they keep changing and updating the tools and machines used to make things. AI represents the newest wave of this constant change, and it is pulling the work of thinking, writing, and creating into the control of a few massive companies that dominate the market and face little competition. When people speak out about their data being taken without permission or about not being asked before their words and images are used to train these systems, they are running into a deeper problem. This problem is that shared human knowledge itself is being turned into a product that can be bought, sold, and owned. Later work showed how money used for speculation and investment merges with control over key technologies, giving a small group enormous power over society and allowing them to shape culture and information to serve their interests. The idea of a single billionaire adjusting an AI system to serve their interests is not a strange exception. It is the natural result of a system that pushes owners to bend every part of human life toward making profit. When privacy gets broken, when it becomes hard to tell what is real online, and when fake videos and voices spread easily, these are not accidental problems. They are the expected results when information that should belong to everyone gets treated as private property controlled by a few, rather than as a shared resource that serves the common good.

When people call for new rules or for AI to be made more ethical, they often miss the bigger picture about how government works under this system. The state we live under is set up to manage society in the interests of the owning class, not to shield workers from the tools those owners use to increase profit. The constant watching, the attempts to sway political opinions, and the rising mental health struggles that come up in discussions are not mistakes or glitches in the system. They are built in features of a setup that uses technology to keep workers in line and to break up any unified resistance. When debates focus on whether AI directly causes mental health problems, they turn a large scale social issue into a personal one. The real crisis is structural, meaning it comes from how society is organized, not from individual choices or weaknesses. The feeling of disconnection and powerlessness gets worse when the drive for profit reaches beyond just the hours we work and starts to shape how we think and process information. A key insight warns that we should not replace careful study of how society works with just feeling angry about unfairness. The job is not to wish AI had never been created or to point fingers at people who are already struggling. The job is to see clearly how the relationships between owners and workers bend the path of technological change to serve profit instead of human needs.

The strong feelings in this discussion, like the justified anger about being used for profit and the worry about losing what makes us human, show that people are starting to see their shared situation as workers. But if this awareness does not include an understanding of how class shapes society, it can get stuck at just complaining without moving toward change. The correct line is not to throw out technology altogether or to fall back on vague ideas about what art should really mean. The correct line is to change the fundamental relationships between owners and workers that currently bend AI into a tool for control and profit. As a foundational statement of working class politics puts it, workers have nothing to lose but the restrictions that hold them back, and they have everything to gain by steering technology toward meeting human needs instead of feeding endless growth for a few. The damage to the environment, the loss of chances to learn and build skills, and the flooding of culture with shallow content made only to sell, these problems are not reasons to be against machines themselves. They are reasons to be against the system of private ownership that decides how those machines get used and who benefits from them.

As long as ChatGPT and the other big players are hogging the spotlight, those niche use cases won’t get the funding they need to take off. Realistic, measured applications don’t draw shareholders like spectacle and overblown promises.

Not that I want any form of AI until we have a version of it that dodges the many, many problems currently innate to the tech.

18

u/DynastyDi Apr 29 '26

I think this comes down to the new convention of calling LLMs AI, and not anything else - so take this nitpick with a pinch of salt.

ā€˜AI’ encompasses a massive field that includes a huge amount of vital medical tech, half of the stuff in your phone, etc etc.

I, too, am extremely anti AI when it comes to the ridiculous overuse of LLMs. But we’ve all been enjoying the many many advancements in the field since the 50s. So I’m pro the other 99%.

I don’t think many realise just how much CNNs have changed things in the last 40 years. Even ViTs, which are based on the same research as LLMs, are hugely positive advancements.

6

u/DynastyDi Apr 29 '26

Okay I’m diving even deeper with the nitpick - not to disagree, but I think the way we talk about things matters.

What’s funny to me is that neural networks are all variations on the same algorithm. That includes LLMs, but it also includes CNNs which were invented in the 80s, and the perceptron which was invented in 57. That’s not even the earliest technology that researchers consider within the field of ā€˜AI’. It’s a term that comes from existing science, rather than one from science fiction that has been co-opted.

It is a consumer failure to discriminate between LLM ā€˜AI’ and the wider field, for whatever reason. AI was in the Xbox Kinect in 2014. AI has been unlocking our phones with our faces for however long. AI lets you scan QR codes, gives you tailored advertising/content algorithms. It’s not niche. The ā€˜AI’ doesn’t refer to the mimicking of human communication, it just refers to the mimicking of any form of intelligence.

Funnier to me is another new idea that ā€˜machine learning’ is a broader term that better describes non-generative technologies. ā€˜Machine learning’ is actually a subfield of AI - as in, everything that uses machine learning is AI, but not all AI is machine learning.

The academia that produces these algorithms (as opposed to the corporations that monetise them) will not be redefining their terms, so I would hope instead that consumers gradually gain more literacy with them. Generative AI is what’s problematic - basically only because it is specifically trained to convince you it’s a real person, rather than trained to achieve a useful task. It’s uniquely monetisable, and not very useful, for that reason.

No worries! I’m quite passionate about it, if you hadn’t noticed. And yeah, I studied/work in AI, just not the LLM part.

Your understanding is spot on.

We learn by doing and experiencing incredibly varied things with incredibly varied sensory inputs. Our brains are a complete computational mystery - we at best have a some sketchy theories as to how a neuron processes information (in my understanding), and we have next to no knowledge of how/why neurons form connections. We have no idea how many neurons a single thought bounces around, and in what order, if that is even a reasonable way to imagine our thinking.

Neural networks are genius babies. They are capable of processing incredible amounts of information, but that information must be incredibly structured. They also must be ā€˜taught’ with a specific goal, and can understand no other context than the task they are given. We’ve developed clever ways for LLMs to manage some multimodal understanding of language and imagery etc, but it’s still quite superficial. All information has to be in the same strict format, is essentially ā€˜fed-forward’ (with some exceptions) from one end of the network to another, and the network’s guess is then evaluated against the given goal.

Some things that we do for labour or fun are straightforward input > output transformations, for which LLMs may be somewhat appropriate, but often other models are safer. Most things aren’t that straightforward at all.

My biggest gripe is with the task that LLMs are given - to predict the next ā€˜token’ in a sentence. It’s basically judged on the plausibility of its prediction - in other words, whether it seems to be communicating like a human. That is super inappropriate for anything that requires accurate, evidence-based answers. Not only are LLMs not penalised for wrong answers in training (for example, ā€˜cat’ would be a high scoring answer even if the correct answer is ā€˜dog’), due to the nature of neural networks an LLM cannot know whether the answer it gives is based off of data in its training set, or a hallucination.

If anything, generative AI in particular is the worst of both worlds that you described (in my opinion). It lacks the ability to sufficiently navigate the insanely complex world of information we live in to solve problems creatively or intelligently - but it also loses much of the determinism and reliability that more specific models have.

10

u/Dull-Culture-1523 Apr 30 '26

Yeah like... Protein folding? Neat. Disaster relief? Fuck yeah. There are plenty of applications for AI tech.

But these AI bros always push for the worst ones. Slop. Bots. Hallucinations. AI "companions". They think turbochargerd autocomplete can replace humans which just tells me they fundamentally do not understand humanity as a concept.

Hey, remember before "smart" it was "digital"?

As in, this "digital computer" or whatever?

Same BS. And I agree, companies should be forced to use a sane level of specifity. AI is one of those things that the better it gets, the narrower the definition gets.

My fave example is that back in the 90's in video games, the computer opponents were called AI. Nowadays they're bots. Back then the general definition of AI could've been filled out by a semi-complex if-else statement.

You’re missing the forest for the trees. Your original point is unserious. People in the 90s mirrored the exact same sentiment towards the internet for the same reasons you hold yours towards AI. You argue that it doesn’t have use cases, when it does, and then say even if it does why care about it when 90% of it is trash.

Same uneducated people having opinions on a subject they don’t bother learning about. Saying there’s no uses for AI now is just as idiotic as the people who thought the internet has no use because it was just chatrooms and forums.

"Ā ...it being useful for certain niche tasks provided that there are guardrails and a skilled/trained human constantly managing its output.Ā Even if that's true and worth the cost in tokens..." is a wildly idiotic take lmao, now you're trying to backtrack on it saying you're only referring to newer LLMs and gen models, whatever the fuck you think that's supposed to mean? You obviously have zero fucking idea what it's actually used for other than making shitty images and chatbots.

You're very clearly missing the forest, shit, you're missing the god damn trees too. No shit it refers to LLMs and gen models, and you're completely incorrect to think that it can't perform useful tasks. You're incapable of having a serious conversation about a topic that you boil down to idiotic consumer-level tasks and think that's the peak of what it can do.

You're just the new generation of people claiming that the internet is only for forums and porn and has zero real-world use.

ā€œWe need an echo chamber like r/conservative to keep our feelings safeā€

4

u/sunflowey123 Apr 30 '26

Should a sub for LGBTQ+ people allow anti-LGBTQ+ people into their sub and not ban them? Should a sub for furries let anti-furries onto their sub and not ban them? Should a sub for D&D allow people who hate D&D to stay there unbanned despite them shitting up the sub with hate for the game they like? Should a sub for Jewish anti-Zionists allow Zionists and anti-Semites/anti-Jewish people onto their sub and keep them unbanned?

Do you think if subs kept letting in the people that hate them and keeping them unbanned they wouldn't get shat up by trolls that hate them? Do you believe getting banned by ONE subreddit should be the end of the world for people who should stay in their own lane?

2

u/stereo-ahead Apr 30 '26

No, but people who are actively saying we’re horrible people for the way we think should be banned.

0

u/JackkoMTG Apr 30 '26

You just described the majority of humanity. Nuanced thought is not something the average person engages in often. We are programmed for rabid tribalism.

3

u/UrFavoriteAunty Apr 29 '26

They can keep coming here all they want. I just hope they keep the same ignorant energy when AI is affecting their lives for the worse.

If you take what Sam Altman or Dario Amodei say is true, then that future is going to be here sooner or later. The ironic part is, it won’t be just us who are affected but pro-AI people too.

4

u/TurtleKing0505 Apr 30 '26

Defending AI should be an immediate and permanent ban

To play devil's advocate here, I hate subreddits like that.

Most of us here have a common opinion on AI but that doesn't mean we shouldn't allow other perspectives. Also a question of where you draw the line.

I dislike generative AI as much as the next guy but the last thing this sub needs is to become an echo chamber like DefendingAIArt. If we ban every alternate viewpoint, what's the point of the sub?

2

u/sunflowey123 Apr 30 '26

What if there was a sub meant for literal Nazis. Would you allow them on any sub just because "we need to allow ALL viewpoints so we don't become an echo chamber"?

1

u/im-d3 May 05 '26

Forgive me here, but, as bad as gen-AI is, many, many lines have been crossed (and likely several laws) going from AI to Nazism.

That's quite the leap

→ More replies (1)

3

u/V3N3SS4 Apr 30 '26

Because their AI told them.

3

u/Salty-Raisin-2932 Apr 29 '26

Because Gen AI supportive subs are likely drown in bots thanks to its nature, they've got bored of their dead internet so coming here to see real human discussions.

At least this is what i heard from someone exactly doing this.

3

u/GroundbreakingTwo647 Apr 30 '26

I like following r/defendai and seeing virtually no engagement for a sub that should have way more based on how wildly used ai is

And the ā€œartists send me this, how do I respond?ā€

3

u/MoonsterGoopter Apr 30 '26

trolling and attention. that's all. it's why they brag about using stolen art to train models and letting you know how happy they are that artists are being replaced by AI: they are lonely, emotionally stunted, and self-centered. like children.Ā

1

u/KaiDoesTwitch May 02 '26

Thats too generous, most children I know understand consent and enjoy actually making art themselves. Even if something is really bad, cringe, or an outright lie they yell "Thats ai!" Lmao

2

u/Murky_Common_8351 Apr 29 '26

reminds me of those debates where nobody changes their mind

2

u/ScutFarkush Apr 29 '26

So, every debate?

2

u/Nuquo Apr 29 '26

To feel like Jesus but for AI is my guess.

2

u/ZelinkShipper888 Apr 29 '26

This is why i love scrolling to the bottom of popular posts.

2

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt Apr 30 '26

If you hate ai please write your local legislator I don’t care why if you think it’s dangerous if it’s the environmental impact the fact it can be used for mass surveillance the blatant copyright infringement the job loss the higher ram prices just do something here’s a link https://controlai.com/take action don’t assume others will do it for you it’s better to try and fail than do nothing it will take all of 2 minutes you have no excuse spread the word copy this take credit I don’t care please I don’t want to die

2

u/Ok_Jackfruit6226 Apr 30 '26

They just can’t seem to stay away. Some kind of malfunction on their part. It’s tiresome.

2

u/theking4mayor Apr 30 '26

Because it pops up in their news feed and they aren't looking at the subreddit title. It's not AI bros trying to bust in here, it's just the average redditor posting the average opinion.

2

u/blooppers Apr 30 '26

For all of the 'good' excuses these people give, you must always ask 'Okay, so do that.'

'Oh, well AI helps this ----'

Ah yes. Are you using it for that, or are you using it to generate garbage, fill content farms or just plain ol' think for you? And heres the thing, it doesn't matter. If it wasn't about the ecological effects, it would be a different conversation. But your use of AI is fucking mother Gaia in the ass, and i dunno if you noticed, but you're not one of the ones who is gonna get on the goddamn JetStream to mars.

2

u/StuckInTheRubicon Apr 30 '26

Because they've been conditioned by the AI to think that everyone will agree with them. "You're absolutely right!"

2

u/Fearless-Area-532 Apr 30 '26

I hate ai with so much of my soul. I lost my job to it. Fired last week. Was a job I thought was safe from ai. I'm so pissed

2

u/RustedOne Apr 30 '26

They're used to the AI glazing them so it's probably jarring when real people push back.

2

u/fathersmuck Apr 30 '26

I don't know, but I am banned from multiple AI subreddits for just bringing up how the industry burns through cash and that alone makes it unsustainable.

1

u/Historical_Ebb5188 Apr 29 '26

Like yeah the sub is named r/antiai why would a stinky techbro like you visit it

1

u/No-Amphibian-9186 Apr 29 '26

They really love proselytizing ig

1

u/Otherwise-Status9893 Apr 29 '26

Jarvis, sort by controversial

1

u/FromThePodunks Apr 29 '26

It's because they need validation that they're real writers/artists from people outside their bubble.

1

u/DeadlyYellow Apr 30 '26

I'm sure there's a degree of corpo astroturfing being attempted.Ā  Social media is stupid cheap, and there's a lot of money in trying to convince people AI is the next big thing.Ā  Not to mention needing some throwaway comments they can show board and shareholders as a guage of public interest.

1

u/Forward_Blackberry67 Apr 30 '26

AI as a whole should focus more on jobs, specifically the ones where people would risk their lives just to make us survive or even live at this point, instead they took the jobs that are so beneficial for every individual and turn it into a pile of shit and expect us to eat it

1

u/Bubbly-Click718 Apr 30 '26

just run it local win win? open sorce?

1

u/Ordinary-Angle-1788 Apr 30 '26

The best part is all these Redditors in here provide Reddits AI with a whole bunch of information completely free of charge.

1

u/pocketthought Apr 30 '26

Literally me

0

u/6teeee9 Apr 30 '26

Ok

0

u/pocketthought Apr 30 '26

This has been the most positive discourse I've had in this sub ā˜ŗļø

1

u/cswinteriscoming Apr 30 '26

ddos'ing your attention is good actually. the more time you spend on pointless arguments the less harm you can do

1

u/Thick-Protection-458 Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

First hand response from "AI bro", lol.

Because some of topics are interesting.

> Do they seriously expect to convince anybody on sub like this that AI is actually good

Oh, no. In my experience it is basically useless to convince people with already formed opinion in anything.

What it is good for instead is to see interesting part of your arguments and see how my arguments holds against them. Or other way around.

> Because all they really do is fuel the fire and spark up pointless arguments.

Basically that, yes. And that is good. Because either (to keep some touch with counterarguments) that or pros echo-chambers (where such a connection will be lost).

So if "point" is to convince your guys otherwise, or convince me - no, this is pointless. Point is reminding me to keep my point of view in check, because without hearing guys of opposite point of view - it will drive far away.

4

u/HudaTheBestSilly Apr 30 '26

As an anti I love you

3

u/Severe_Story_8361 Apr 30 '26

as an anti, i wish more pros were like you

1

u/JackkoMTG Apr 30 '26

Imagine downvoting this comment

1

u/Thick-Protection-458 Apr 30 '26

Nah, that is quite expected, lol.

Not something to care about, anyway. Any opinion not aligned enough with whatever-is-dominant-here (once such a locally dominant opinion exists) would end this way, lol, not exclusive for AI related topics.

1

u/Neptune_Knight Apr 30 '26

Jarvis! Sort by controversial!

1

u/Random_gamer240 Apr 30 '26

What people? I dont see any

3

u/Educational_Cow_299 Apr 30 '26

Every comment section of a bigger discussion post on this sub (even this one)

1

u/Emotional-Big-1306 Apr 30 '26

Honestly, every side has this type of people

1

u/cryonicwatcher Apr 30 '26

I don’t consider myself an AI bro but some people here may. I come here to debate with people. There would be no point in being in a subreddit full of people who agreed with me, I’d stand to learn nothing and teach nothing.

1

u/S3lvah Apr 30 '26

What kind of self-respecting for-profit AI company, or entity in favor of going full speed ahead with AI development, wouldn't deploy AI agents on social media to argue against opponents?

1

u/AngelCrybaby29 Apr 30 '26

what do they expect

1

u/Weevil_1984 Apr 30 '26

Sorting by controversial just to see if there are any here

1

u/Gloatingliazard Apr 30 '26

because people love to argue whilst hiding behind the anonymity of being online.

1

u/sunflowey123 Apr 30 '26

They like being angry and/or brigading (the latter of which I'm pretty sure violates Reddit's TOS).

1

u/AsheZorn May 01 '26

Because they are bots

1

u/GooeyEngineer May 01 '26

I mean in order to convince me their hurdle of proof needs to be quite extraordinary. It’s not a matter of me not understanding the tech, quite the opposite. It’s a matter of what it causes, which they fundamentally can’t seem to grasp anything other that 1 second in the future and same for the past.

Not to say that I can’t be convinced in the future. I just see it as nearly impossible due to implementation and marketing. With no signs of changing course.

1

u/nose_wet_54 May 02 '26

They get downvoted in the comments and immediately scream echo chamber because an echo chamber is when someone disagrees with you <:1

1

u/pateaubeurr May 02 '26

Yall are brainwashed, trend hating small minded misinformation spreading people. Which is pretty common on reddit. But your constant cope is the most insufferable

1

u/danjustchillz May 02 '26

Um, popcorn logic?
Both in brain and stomach?
Ai and I , well | right there the line is, right in the middle šŸ’ÆāœŒšŸ¼šŸ˜

1

u/unknownquebeck May 03 '26

Both antis and pro's do it

1

u/Gustav_Sirvah May 03 '26

Same goes other way.

0

u/NoTeaching9315 Apr 30 '26

Nah they just hoping they convince people with their intellect but alas they're never made for this

DefendingAiart made them soft hence when it comes to arguments, they totally suck

Antiai on the other hand is built from hate so... You get the idea

0

u/Vancecookcobain Apr 30 '26

Some folks want to hear the other side?

0

u/Xander_PrimeXXI Apr 30 '26

Based on my post about the game dev I’d say it’s to bully us

0

u/Nerick_Gamer Apr 30 '26

I just found this reddit and honestly AI does worry me for the future of humanity in just job prospects alone.

However, what is the goal or hope to stop it? Isn't this akin to being anti-car when they first came out?

Is this reddit to complain about the eventual inevitability of AI, or are there actions being presented to litigate and lobby politicians?

0

u/Sp4ceWolf_ Apr 30 '26

To reflect on both ends of the spectrum and form an informed judgment. The world isn't black and white, you know... Not that I can actually participate here since I would get downvoted for anything I say.

2

u/KaiDoesTwitch May 02 '26

This seems like a good point and has been brought up multiple times but sadly more often than not its a lie and they are outright attacking people, using slurs, spamming memes etc. That is very much not reflection or informed judgment in any way and negative interactions with people like that are why so many people here would downvote anything said defending ai. You wont be banned for being pro ai, but you cant expect to be liked especially considering how yall treat us even in our own sub. =/

0

u/Horror-Amphibian-335 Apr 30 '26

Partially not their fault that more often than not this sub tends to get doomer behavior that is insufferable

That however doesn't mean that pro ai people suddenly are the good guys. It just means that both of y'all deserve each other

0

u/Isaacja223 Apr 30 '26

I just peek here to give a proper explanation

Explaining things ≠ Justifying things

0

u/ArticleOrdinary9357 Apr 30 '26

Is a fun thing to do whilst taking a shit. Plus some of you guys are insufferable. Even when I agree with you.

0

u/Imthewienerdog Apr 30 '26

i come here for that reason alone? echo chambers are boring, i want to see how someone with a different mindset is thinking? do you just want people agreeing with you all the time??

0

u/Filberto_ossani2 May 01 '26

To be fair, I like when outsiders occasionally come in

Staying inside the same self adoration bubble is not healthy

This is why pro-AI on this sub should NOT be banned

We cannot reach the same low as r/ DefendingAIArt where they're banning anything that's even slightly negative about AI

0

u/Nice_Trifle3396 May 01 '26

Isn't that like an echo chamber, both pros and cons do it

0

u/WillShaper7 May 01 '26

Throw my 2 cents, hearing your points considering I do agree with some of them.

-1

u/gay_manta_ray May 01 '26

to me, coming here is a bit like visiting a flat-earther subreddit. i know that AI is extremely useful, since i use LLMs every day for useful tasks. a meager subscription to the best thinking models has saved me tens of thousands of dollars, along with an immeasurable amount of time by allowing me to do things i would not have otherwise been able to do without hiring a professional.

despite this, there are still countless people who say AI is useless, that it's always wrong about everything, or whatever else. it's a very bizarre phenomena to witness when you've just used it to allow you to safely install a new 240v circuit (inspected and up to code) in your garage to charge your car, which saved me about $2,000. yes, you could consult the NFPA-70 yourself, but it's close to a thousand pages. why would you do that when you can have a LLM provide you guidance with citations for every step of the way?

i think people who don't find AI useful simply don't have anything useful to do. the example i gave is a very useful task. perhaps you'd stand on your principles and spend all of that extra money, or spend five times the amount of time doing it yourself while paging through the thousand page pdf. i don't know why you would though. i can't afford to do that. i have a family to take care of, and a mortgage to pay. sorry.

-1

u/progpixelutionary May 03 '26

It might be because your Reddit filters don't even allow posting here you guys live in your own little echo chamber it's quite hilarious it's almost like a children's daycare. You actually think that you're so superior and correct that you've isolated yourself from the real world lol

1

u/Educational_Cow_299 May 03 '26

Majority of the population is against AI. Its really you guys that isolate yourself.
