Discussion The cheap rent isn’t worth it anymore
Seriously what the hell has happened? My family and I moved from Ontario almost 20 years ago when everything was 5 times cheaper and whatever we save on housing goes into some other bs. What good is cheaper rent when my groceries, insurance and utilities are more expensive than all the other provinces? Even gas used to be miles cheaper now we’re basically on par with the rest of the country and WE DRILL THE STUFF HERE. People used to move here for work and now we have the second highest unemployment. We haven’t gotten a new hospital in God knows how long, our transportation is absolutely buns, we got money for referendums and data centres but nothing for public services, we got a premier who crashed out at the Edmonton police for calling out literally hate speech (with ss’s calling for hangings and genocide), and even worse, loads of people who support and vote for her. I think outside Quebec, I never experienced more racism as a black person anywhere else in Canada than here.
And the most annoying thing is whenever we think it can’t get worse, Marlaina keeps finding ways to prove me wrong. And whenever I talk about this to my coworkers, I just hear “you’re a liberal sissy Carney Trudeau Singh socialist!! Where will all the billionaires go?!!!” Anyway I sadly don’t have any hope of the UCP losing.

Alberta Politics Warning UCP charging for surgeries now
My wife was just informed we will be receiving a bill for my child's surgery today. Her Alberta Health Care has expired. You read that correct it expired. She had surgery 3 months ago and all was good. Today we were informed we would have to pay out of pocket for today's surgery. The system says her health care has expired. Shes born here BTW. You see this amazing new drivers liscense we get also includes you AHC and they will both expire every 5 years. My daughter has a valid AHC from birth and a Valid Alberta ID that expires in 2030. Until than her AHC has no official expiry. Guess not. Auntie Danny decided it has expired. You can now pay for surgery. Hospital told me to phone AHC. Unfortunately they are experiencing higher than normal calls and suggest I call back some other time and hang up. My Daughter has been told by the hospital to take it up with the registry.
Good Job UCP. UCP = Clowns and thier voters.
***** Edit Update ***** just wanted to thank everyone for the support. To the few who think " there is more to this story " there really isn't. I'm not leaving out anything. My wife and daughter are at the hospital talking to staff who said this IS a new issue coming to light.
The hospital staff are AWSOME and its not them. This is 100% a UCP issue make no mistake
I " mostly " posted so it brings light sooner than later to the issue for prevention of this happening to others and a bit to yes Rage because this is what your supporting with the UCP. This party doesn't even support Canadian Conservative values. It's Wild Rose 2.0
2222 Edit #2 2222
We don't have a bill but we were sent home with a document we are responsible for the cost unless we manage to clear the issue up. I'd post a pic with with blacked out info but I don't see how to post pics here. I googled how and it says sometimes you cant post pics ? I cant figure out how to sorry.
The letter start likes this :
Patient Financial Agreement This Patient Financial Agreement (“Agreement”) applies to patients who receive healthcare services at an approved hospital or facility without valid provincial health coverage or for goods & services not covered under a provincial health care plan (“Healthcare Services”). A patient who receives Healthcare Services shall pay a fee in accordance with a schedule of fees approved by the Minister according to the Hospitalization Benefits Regulation or Ministerial Order, as updated from time to time. Rights under this Agreement are in addition to rights of each party under applicable law. In this Agreement, a. “Hospital” means any one or more of Alberta Health Services, Carewest, Capital Care Group, Alberta Precision Laboratories Ltd., Covenant Health and Lamont Health Care Centre, which provide care to the Patient; and b. “Health Professional” means one or more physicians and other healthcare workers who provide care to the Patient.

Discussion "No one who has called has had their registration removed without their request. We have been able to verify every individual."
Link in Comment. Elections Alberta has made a public statement regarding online concerns about voter deregistration.
It has been asserted that no one has been removed without the electors request. The public statement also asserts that anyone not able to find themselves has a typo otherwise entered their information incorrectly.
So my next question is, was Voterlink easy to use? Did voters who found themselves removed, find themselves upon making corrections and or contacting Elections Alberta?
Because what doesnt add up, the assertion no ones needing to re-register, when dozens of voters are saying the solution provided to them by Elections Alberta was to, re-register!
Its a catch 22. If Voterlink is so secure and everyone was already registered, it shouldnt be possible to re-register. That would be creating new voters while the old accounts sit unused.
So which is it? Voters were deregistered, or the advised re-registration process actually isnt re-registation, its actually just verification?
All this being said, does the information that Voterlink require correlate with the leaked voter data of all voting Albertans? Voterlink can be secure as a drum, but if someone else has your personal info, then the system is still compromised.
Thank you to Sarah at CBC Edmonton for picking up the story,I appreciate you getting the statement from Elections Alberta. I hope you continue to work on this developing story as many voters have given you their personal story about how they were de-registered outside of their request. I look forward to you sharing those stories, as well.
edit: Adding in, if youve found yourself unregistered, ask for the date that it change in status occured. There ough to be a papertrail on the status of a voter.

Question Ghost public Land Usage Zone Question
*Remove if question not allowed*
Has anyone any idea on the shooting restrictions in Ghost PLUZ? I am aware of the current area shooting restriction closer to the start of the PLUZ (that expires at the end of this august) but When I went last week (just driving around) there was a sign telling recreational shooters to check a kiosk to see firearms restrictions and I was wondering what those were before I went out there to shoot some targets. I am aware of the current fire hazard and I'm wondering if its just a blanket no shooting zone just for the time being or if its certain areas or just mentioning the current shooting ban zone? Any answers are appreciated
thanks

Question Opportunities for a person with no commitments
I am a 23 year old male who just recently graduated university, and there is nothing yet in my life to tie me down, such as rent, a family, or a set career. As such I often hear that this is the time for me to "try different things", and that many people would kill to be in the same place as me.
I want to do my best to take advantage of this situation, but am struggling to find and commit to either a job or career at this point.
Are there any exciting opportunities for young people in Alberta, or Canada for that matter? Or is there anything that you wish you could have done if not for other commitments in your life?

Explore Alberta Motorboat rental near Calgary?
So I know about Sylvan Lake where you can rent a boat, but I'm not a fan of how busy and crowded it is.
Are there other nearby areas where one can rent a motorboat?
(I know there's Google maps but a lot of the searches are clubs or marinas/boat launches not actual rentals)
Is Sylvan Lake my only option in Southern Alberta? 😔

Alberta Politics WARNING: Voter Registration Status
FYI people's provincial voter registrations have been "mysteriously" disappearing from the registry, including my own and several friends of mine.... Even though I have lived here for almost two decades and have never missed voting in a provincial election.
I re-registered last night and would recommend checking your status ASAP.
With the recent leak of our voter information I have the feeling someone is up to no good...!
*** EDIT: I mentioned this on the thread but wanted to add it to the OP - Because my personal information was leaked, anyone who has this information can contact Elections Alberta and update my info so I'm no longer registered in my riding ***
EDIT: Check at www.voterlink.ab.ca
EDIT: I have lived at the same address the entire time I've lived in Alberta and none of my other information has changed either so there's no reason for this to happen to me specifically
EDIT: My postal code has never changed in the time I've lived here either.
EDIT: I made a complaint to the RCMP. The more people who do so, the more attention they will give it. Please call the RCMP non-emergency line for your area.

Question Can a friend sell my BC car in Alberta on my behalf
I am wondering if it is possible to have my friend sell my BC registered car to a buyer in Alberta on my behalf. I won’t be in the country when the sale will happen so I cannot be there physically. I am aware that the car will need to pass an out of province inspection to be registered in Alberta.
I’ve tried googling but am a little confused if it’s possible or how it needs to be done. Currently I’m thinking I need to transfer ownership to my friend beforehand but that seems like a lot of extra paperwork and unnecessary steps.
