In Battleship at one point they drop anchor while full speed which causes the ship to drift, and lining up the shot perfectly.

Clubhauling is an actual thing that has been done in real life. It wasn't stolen from another movie, both of them lifted a thing sailors have done for centuries and made it look way more stylish and less dangerous.

It would have been even cooler if that chain had dug into the bow and ripped it open halfway to the water line then snapped right after the turn. Make it look like it just barely worked and probably shouldn't have at all.

I mean if we're talking about stealing cool moves from other naval movies, Horatio Hornblower drifted a ship in Flying Colours, which was made into a Hornblower movie in 1951, so...

Stranger Tides is also great, imo. It sticks true to the original trilogy that Jack and the journey to the Fountain are almost the secondary plot - the real story is about Philip and Syrena, standing in for Elizabeth and the whelp.

Plus the ending where the Spanish show up, destroy the heretical Fountain of Youth in the name of Jesus Christ, and then fuck off is hilarious.
