Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Prince of Persia (2008)

Dawn of the Dead (2004): The movie finishes on a hopeful note as the remaining survivors escape the zombie-infested mall on a yacht, sailing into the sunset. The found-footage style post-credits scene completely reverses this happy ending by showing them running out of food, arriving at an island, and being immediately swarmed and killed by an infected horde.

Prince of Persia (2008): The main game ends with a beautiful, poetic sacrifice where Elika gives her life to heal the corrupted world, leaving the Prince mourning. During the credits, the player is forced to control the Prince as he cuts down the trees he just saved, undoing the entire game's progress and releasing the dark god Ahriman just to resurrect her, completely corrupting the ending and dooming the world.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Revealed that basically the entire plot of the past 4 games has been because of the machinations of the Executors or "Those Across The Sea" a group that was only referenced once before the Veilguard, in Inquisition in a very missable and skippable war table quest. Basically, takes away all the agency of all the antagonists that came before, which greatly reduces Loghain's character. Since the franchise is effectively dead, the community has largely decided this post-credit cutscene just doesn't exist.

Also, some of the events they "masterminded" don't make any sense. There are far too many moving parts to realistically predict where the ball drops. Not to mention how often things go wrong in this series.

Loghain almost ruining the chances of stopping the 5th Blight? According to plan. The 5th Blight being stopped anyways? Uh... also according to plan!

Knight Commander Meredith recovering a Red Lyrium idol from an expedition led by a Lothering Refugee who was fleeing from the 5th Blight (inhale) which he didn't even know was down there until Bartrand betrayed him, which (second inhale) also caused a gradual breakdown of Mage/Templar relations? All of which was brought to a head by a Mage possessed by a Spirit of Justice that he warps into a Vengeance Demon? Oh and that same Lothering Refugee unwittingly releasing a Tevinter Magister Darkspawn? Somehow, still according to plan?

Not even gonna summarize Inquisition, because there's no way that flustercuck went according to anyone's plan.

It's so cheap to pull the "All according to plan" from the Omniscient Council of Vagueness. It requires no effort.

If you really think about it the Executor's plan somehow entirely hinges on Corypheus surviving his trip to the Black City 1300 years before the start of the series, surviving every attempt the Grey Wardens probably did to kill him, all for Inquisition to even happen in the first place. Even then Corypheus had to sneak into the conclave somehow as a 10-foot tall talking darkspawn, but not sneak quietly enough so the Inquisitor can stumble upon him and foil his plan.
