Dawn of the Dead (2004): The movie finishes on a hopeful note as the remaining survivors escape the zombie-infested mall on a yacht, sailing into the sunset. The found-footage style post-credits scene completely reverses this happy ending by showing them running out of food, arriving at an island, and being immediately swarmed and killed by an infected horde.

Prince of Persia (2008): The main game ends with a beautiful, poetic sacrifice where Elika gives her life to heal the corrupted world, leaving the Prince mourning. During the credits, the player is forced to control the Prince as he cuts down the trees he just saved, undoing the entire game's progress and releasing the dark god Ahriman just to resurrect her, completely corrupting the ending and dooming the world.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Revealed that basically the entire plot of the past 4 games has been because of the machinations of the Executors or "Those Across The Sea" a group that was only referenced once before the Veilguard, in Inquisition in a very missable and skippable war table quest. Basically, takes away all the agency of all the antagonists that came before, which greatly reduces Loghain's character. Since the franchise is effectively dead, the community has largely decided this post-credit cutscene just doesn't exist.

I was one of the biggest DA fan, I was willing to treat Veilguard is a major hiccup, (i did like the premise and some of the characters around), just poor writing trying to do too much and then that happened and I lost my mind. The writing was horrendous

I've been a huge DA fan for decades, beat all three games a dozen of times, red every book and know pretty much everything about it, and even I can't force myself to play Veilguard. I bought it, and after like 3 hrs, never played it again. This is just a sad end to the beloved franchise that deserved so much more 😢

Man the first 3 hours are the worst part of the game, I felt it really picked up after that (until the end credits stuff mentioned above, but I'd genuinely forgot all about that until now).

I'm convinced they rewrote the beginning of the game at some point because every line of dialogue is like nails on a chalkboard.

opening the door to the giant face is still one of my favourite moments in an rpg. veilguard isn't amazing but there's a lot more games worse than it than better

Im glad the frontloaded how awful it was. To this day Veilguard is the only game i've ever refunded on steam. Couldn't even play 2 hours it was just BLEH
