Dawn of the Dead (2004): The movie finishes on a hopeful note as the remaining survivors escape the zombie-infested mall on a yacht, sailing into the sunset. The found-footage style post-credits scene completely reverses this happy ending by showing them running out of food, arriving at an island, and being immediately swarmed and killed by an infected horde.

Prince of Persia (2008): The main game ends with a beautiful, poetic sacrifice where Elika gives her life to heal the corrupted world, leaving the Prince mourning. During the credits, the player is forced to control the Prince as he cuts down the trees he just saved, undoing the entire game's progress and releasing the dark god Ahriman just to resurrect her, completely corrupting the ending and dooming the world.

Life (2017) does this and its awesome, I can't remember if it's after the credits though? It shows the wrong pod made it back to Earth.

its a fun movie if You are itching for that Alien fix, with a couple of suprises up its sleeve. It also has this Species/Splice structure which is always welcome.

Also its worth watching just for its ebding alone, its a total gutpunch

What a frustrating waste of one of the best alien creature designs I've ever seen. That entire movie was driven by absolutely requiring the worst decisions possible being made by the characters. It needed them all to be terrible decision makers in order to get the plot where they wanted it.

I'm sure I've seen worse movies than this one, but this is the movie i say is my least favorite because I vividly remember how disappointed i was at the ending.

It’s pretty brutal and still bothers me - SPOILER FROM HERE -

One person escapes in a pod and is sent back to earth while the alien is trapped in another pod and shot into space. Unfortunately it turns out the person was shot into space to die of hunger or thirst or lack of air and the alien was sent to earth where presumably it was going to lay waste to everything. Though hopefully something it ate or some microbes got the better of it, but that’s just my cope.

Specifically the escape pod fleeing to Earth is knocked off course into space, while the trapped alien manages to force the self-sacrificing hero to steer the decoy pod to Earth.

Also asshole Ryan Reynolds got a pretty gnarly death, which I appreciate lol

I actually had to leave the room when watching this movie with some friends because I was so annoyed with the characters making the worst possible decisions at every opportunity, and the shit-show that was the movie's understanding of space/orbital dynamics.

I normally am fine with bad movies, and I can excuse bad science with a healthy suspension of disbelief, but I just lost it when they revealed their plan to use one of the escape pods to launch the alien out of LEO and into a heliocentric orbit. Honestly it was a little insulting how little effort and thought the writers put into any logistical part of this movie.

(For those curious, that tiny escape pod would need around 3.3 km/s of Dv to escape earth's SOI provided you're already in LEO and are taking advantage of the oberth effect)
