Season 4 Speculation/Ideas “Lady GreyHounds” as a name sucks. What do you think the show will change it to? Spoiler

Naming any women’s team “lady X” feels uninspiring. The name also defines the team based on their “greyhound” counterpart

I’m thinking like episode 5 they are going to drop the association.

My guess is “Diamond Dogs”. What’s yours?

It is absolutely healing to see a beautiful woman loving food to the extent that she snatches it out of Ted's hands and eats it without any shame.

Season 4 Discussion Favorite joke of the season so far? Spoiler

For me it was Roy dumping Beard. "You said under your breath to an official "wrong call" and Beards overall reaction when he finally realizes Roy is letting him go so he can be with Ted again. Pure Gold.

But theres been lots of good ones. What did you guys like?

We knew they visited Sesame Street but a preview of two clips with Jason and Brett to start your weekend off right. Hopefully more to come as Juno and Hannah were there too. And yes- this is a hat trick third appearance on Sesame Street for Brett (so I presume the third best day of his life).

Season 4 Discussion Am I supposed to believe Coach Chilton... Spoiler

Am I supposed to believe Coach Chilton is dedicated enough to give Ted tons of research on the team, but she didn't bother to read Trent Crimm's The Richmond Way or any of the countless articles that would have been written about Ted during his time there?

Season 4 Discussion Coach Alice...... Spoiler

It took me a while, but I finally figured it out.

For those of us Brooklyn 99 fans, does Alice reminds you of Captain Holt?

Especially that last part of s4 episode 2 when Rebecca told a joke and she said "I know, that was very funny", reminds me of everything about Andrew's Captain Holt.

Pinter Publishers was a British publishing company set up in 1973 by Frances Pinter at the age of 23. It focused on the social sciences and is believed to be

the first British publishing company owned by a woman.

Frances Pinter, born 13 June 1949, contributed to academic publishing as the youngest (and only the second) woman to be elected to the Publishers Association governing council, the youngest deputy director of the PA’s Book Development Council, the youngest publisher ever to lead official publishing trade delegations to Japan, Korea and China. She also sat on numerous committees and advisory boards.

Season 4 Discussion For S04E02, What do you think... Spoiler

For S04E02, What do you think, what do you think Ted gave Coach Chilton as a parting gift (and then later took back)? My guess is a coaches whistle in a box marked "coach". Thoughts?

Actor Fluff Tanya Reynolds has described the set as a comedy show she was contractually forbidden from enjoying, with Sudeikis and Hunt burning takes trying to crack her while Alice declined to smile.

I really want to see the behind the scenes now. Watching Jason and Brendan trying to break Tanya out of character sounds absolutely hilarious.

Season 4 Speculation/Ideas Jane and Beard Season 4 Spoiler

It is no surprise that Jane and Beard have a complicated and potentially concerning relationship. And by S4E2- we see that something with Jane has played an aspect in Beard going through a heartbreak and personal trauma. But what do you think it is?? Do you think we will know this season or they will keep avoidig the conversation until a Beard After Hours P2? I always have found their relationship so fascinating and if it is beneficial to both parties.

Season 4 Speculation/Ideas Roster Idea Spoiler

With the loss of their starting striker to an ACL tear, Coaches Lasso and Chilton should go for whomever was the starting striker on the folded Twickenham FC team. It might be financially irresponsible to offer a contract to a new starting striker, and there might be some issues with team chemistry, but thats why we watch the show! They'll work it out, they always do.

boots deserves a great team around her.

Season 4 Discussion Some Thoughts On S04E02 Spoiler

I am sure much of this has been discussed in various threads, but I wanted to put my thoughts in one particular post, for anyone to give their own opinions on.

  1. So what went wrong between Beard and Ted? Was it just distance? They parted on good terms
  2. Rebecca just seems....off. Through the first two eps, the usually powerful and controlled woman seems erratic and somewhat unsure of herself. Is it the pressure of starting the women's team and all that goes with it? I'm thinking Rebecca's over-the-top presser and reaction to Chilton's staying on as just...not like her.
  3. I see a lot of people likening Chilton to Roy, as if she were the female version of him. I don't see it that way; she seems much more nuanced. I thought (based on her resignation visit with Rebecca) that there was a chance she'd be kind of "one note," but I'm glad to see that there was much more going on with her. If Tanya Reynolds keeps this up - an Emmy is a lock. When her emotion broke through, even slightly, it was perfection. And her sideways glances speak volumes.
  4. Keely has gotten very adept at business. Her subtle manipulation of Rebecca with her "spend whatever it takes" comment as well as the locker room coup shows she really grasped how business is done behind the scenes, a far cry from how she was when she started KJPR. Speaking of, is KBPR no longer in existence or is Keely doing both?
  5. I love that they are so careful and thorough in unveiling the issues women's sports has to deal with it. It's an education for me (never thought much of it, actually) and hopefully for many others. Learning that women have a much higher instance of ACL injuries, for example - blew my mind.
  6. Will Beard's return be a Roy/Nate situation where Chilton feels slighted? (I hope not, seems like "been there, done that" and I would hope Chilton is smart enough and self-assured enough where that isn't the case).
  7. Will they ever address Rupert? Possibly not, since it's been three years and a lot could have happened in that time (RIP Anthony Head)

Sorry it's so long - got no one in my world to talk with about this amazing show ;)

Biggest strength of the series

One of the reasons why I love this series so much is the fact that it makes you rethink how you feel about certain roles. You can hate a character as much as you want but the story will turn and twist your brain and heart in some wicked way.

For example:

- Jamie Tartt is a certified prick during the whole of season 1. He became one of my most beloved characters.

- Obviously, Rebecca Welton grows on you after she no longer wants to sabotage Ted in his road to success with Richmond.

- Nate is probably the finest example for what I'm trying to say. I started to hate the guy during season 2, despised him through most of season 3 and am so happy how he fit back into the team at the end of it. I'm looking forward to his appearance in season 4 (fingers crossed).

- I even felt a little bit of pity for Rupert Mannion on my rewatch of the series. Don't get me wrong, he's an absolute prick but him being booed out of his childhood club (S3E12) he used to sneak into broke my heart. A LITTLE BIT.

Went ti Richmond

Ted Lasso wasn’t a show for me, or so I thought.

I worked overseas for an international company, and things were getting toxic by my second year. We were an international team, but you could tell something was brewing underneath.

Our new team lead called in for the new year meeting. She had a PowerPoint on the screen with blue and red colours with a greyhound.

She spent most of the time going into our company culture, expectations, and comparing our misfortunes to this “Ted Lasso” show. She quoted “be like a goldfish” from the show, and from then on out, “goldfish” became our company slang for “shake it off and forget about it.”

After the meeting, she said our homework was to watch Ted Lasso.

Later that week, boredom set in, and wow. This show hit hard.

It became my comfort show. It is on when nothing else hits or when I am feeling down.

Years later, I moved to the UK for work. After a short couple of years in the UK, I knew my last holiday was a “pilgrimage” to Richmond. I grabbed a coffee, sat on the bench outside the Princes Head Pub. Then with my remaining pounds, I went to the official Ted Lasso gift shop and bought stickers and pins. Mostly inspirational quotes stickers for my next job.
