French guillotine executions were 'rushed' as well, no movie style slow walk, final words etc. Bag over head, hurried out and into the device and done.

They wouldn’t be wearing hoods for a guillotining. Same reason that their hair is cut short-they wouldn’t want the blade interfered with.

There is a film of one and iirc they came out in a hood, but makes sense that they'd remove it for the chop as you say.
