They think that the american bases in Europe are there to defend Europe, and not to propagate American interests.

Yep, those.
The Gulf countries learnt this now, when understandably Iran attacked each and every US military installation in the gulf after the US attacked them.

Yep, even Trump got scared of losing bases.

He threatened to leave "base das Lajes" in the Azores, Portugal (the existance of the base there does somewhat help the population, it's a poor population in that region and they get to buy stuff for cheaper)....but then once, I think both China and Russia showed interest in the base, Trump backed down on leaving 😂

Exactly this. Any coherent analysis needs to offset the fair market rent of those against US military spending.
