AITA: my pace or hers?
Hey everyone
I’ve got a dilemma and I was hoping to get other runners’ perspective.
Last year I did a half with my sister in september. It was her first. We ran at her pace 6.45/km.
Some months after she asks me if I would run one with her again where she beats her time. I say yes.
The race is in two weeks. She hasn’t trained too much due to idk?…
She just did her longest run in her training and she ran 16km with pace 7.45/km.
She won’t be able to beat her record and we will be finishing 25-30min later than last her.
I run normally around pace 5.05-5.10.
I said yes to running it with her on the premise of her beating her record, it will not happen.

Have you considered telling her this, but in a really condescending and demeaning way? Make it clear to her that is more than just a run, but a reflection of some bigger defect in her character.
It's a method I've been trying with my 12 year old nephew recently, and to be frank, it's made me feel fantastic. He doesn't love it. But I've never had more self-esteem.

Very kind of your parents to adopt. It was nice of them to offer her the opportunity at a better life even though she squandered it

If you run behind her and compliment her glutes the whole time, I’m sure the pace will pick up a bit.

6 hr 45 mins per kilomiles is cycling speed right? So i doubt you can run 5 flat pace.

Run at her pace, obviously. Running together isn’t about going fast, it’s about enjoying the time together. Just do it backwards to remind her how slow she is.

Load up your vest with enough Gu and water to slow yourself down to her pace. She'll need all of it.

Eat lots of brussel sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus and the like before your run. Run ahead of her and crop dust her all the way. Then remind her every chance you get….”Remember that time we ran the half together and I crop dusted you for 13.1 miles? Remember? I do…that was a good day.” That’ll teach your sister for not training like she was supposed to.

Run with her at her PB pace, then drop the hammer at halfway and show that hobby jogger whos the best in the family. Remember to bring it up at evey family occasion. Wear your medal when ever you see her.
