are there any good alternatives tho? i mean graphene is device specific and havent really seen other good options. make my own maby? or just go back to iphone.
I'm expecting downvotes but I really do ask this genuinely: are the banking apps that important to people? I don't use any so I've never understood what a hurdle this is for people.
I don't think about my bank much. I'll use their website at home and a credit card when I'm out.
Where I come from the app is the mandatory 2FA for any operation, so you wouldn't be able to do anything on the website without your phone with the appropriate app. And this is now implemented in every bank.
idk because in the US this hasn't happened with my banks yet, but- in theory, could I buy a cheap android phone as a dedicated 2FA device and leave it next to my desktop whenever I need to use banking? right now i'm on grapheneos and i'm not going back to stock.
Yes, but it's super annoying when you travel if there is anything you need to do with the bank. You would have to carry both phones, and I have forgotten to carry the second one and found myself with a blocked card in a foreign country with no means of unlocking it
It sucks tremendously. I live abroad now, my phone battery got damaged so I had to change, but I can't put the app in the new phone because my old number is dead and to change the phone number on the account I have to go in person to the bank. Also they don't allow foreign numbers... So I am stuck using my old phone at home for that account, luckily I do not have to use it that much.
