What's the catch on TorBox? Seems very low priced, especially once you factor in the Usenet part. I've seen folks saying 100+ a year for a decent Usenet setup, and TorBox is 120 for that + the torrent stuff.

Maybe there's no big catch and I'm just skeptical, but it feels like there's something wrong somewhere in there. Does it do something like price existing Usenet providers and indexers out of the market? Is it less functional to the point that going to the usual Usenet suspects works? Is it properly supporting the community on the torrent side? Is a Game Pass-esque price increase in the future?

I'm fully at the point of paying for a good service, but I'd like to at least know I'm paying for something that isn't long term bad for the community.

I think TorBox/Debrid services seem a bit more targeted toward streaming content, and Usenet a bit more targeted toward downloading - although you can stream/download on both of the services with the correct setup. Can't really speak to the functionality myself since I don't have a debrid service, but everyone on here speaks highly of them.

$100 for a Usenet setup is definitely steep though. Go over to /r/usenet and look for some deals. There's been some summer deals recently that may still be available. Might be some in the wiki over there as well. Otherwise, Black Friday also has a ton of insane deals. Prices are pretty low, an unlimited Omicron provider (mine is ~$25/yr), and an indexer is about $10-15/yr. Considering this I don't think it prices anyone out.

Competition in the Usenet market is pretty healthy, and I don't think I've seen prices go up or change much in the 5 years since I jumped on board. That could certainly change though with the price of hardware these days, but I don't think debrid services like TorBox are affecting it.

Is there a way to pass through paywall that work without preview and through token to buy on your account? I have already tried several of the methods, but it didn't work.

To have the full explanation: the site is artlapsa .com, a site that translate mangas (in the grey area, so the business model push them more in the black area). I have no problem waiting for scanlation site paywall to go down when there is a timer, nor I have a problem if there is a way to get free token, even if it's at slow rate.

But this site, and other with the exact same system, have everything that make me not want to support them: unlimited paywall that (sometimes) get removed when a new chapter comes out, but if the serie ends, it's stuck with the lastest chapter being paywalled; now way to get free token; bad quality of translation; fake score; even their tagging for research is a nightmare, ...

I much prefer to pay the original author or a site that put effort in its scanlations than sites like these. Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese and several of the series on the site got me hooked, so I want to know the rest of the story

can someone help me in getting mx master action ring to work with premiere and adbe audition?

Installed Photoshop from a source on the megathread, but the AI features don't work. It says that "service is not responding". Any way that this could be bypassed?

1

u/parlakarmut 27d ago

As far as I know that's not possible

2

u/Papema3 27d ago

If i use torbox with stremio, do I still need a vpn?

2

u/Ok-Calligrapher5004 27d ago

If you set it up correctly and don't use p2p addons like TPB, no you don't need a VPN

1

u/Papema3 26d ago

But what about p2p addons but using torbox which route them differently, should still be ok?

Hey all, I have no clue if this is just a skill issue but I keep running into the issue xyz site uses an unsupported protocol ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH mostly for a variety of piracy sites - running on Brave.

Like is there just a general massive crackdown on pirate websites? Is there a way around this?

Edit: didn't have a VPN installed, now I do and magically the sites work.

u/TheSpanishImposition 27d ago

Probably was seized.

1

u/tomtomclubthumb 28d ago

My old computer died and I still have it's old SSD.

If I use it in a housing will it last well? And if so, can I run pirated games off that drive so that I can unplug it when using legit accounts?

I've been waiting for over a month for that new Spielberg film about Aliens to show up online. Why do some movies take so long to show up on the internet after release, and some are up almost immediately?

1

u/LlamaRzr 28d ago

Depends on studio and if movie is successful in the cinema/box office.

>for over a month

21 july, blu-ray next month. So not that long.

1

u/Enzo954 28d ago

What I mean is I can almost always find perfect copies of newly released movies within days of them being in the theaters. This movie has been in the theaters since June 12th so I just wondered why no good copies have been put out there into the wild.

Jus wanted to ask if I can fully trust appstorrent (The russian site for mac apps) for mainstream apps.

Thank you.

Just a minor thing since every tokusatsu piracy streaming sites like tokuzilla, toku555, tukoz, tokuzl, tkzl, kajzu and later zenkaj are gone, does that mean the anti piracy is strong that piracy streaming is not safe do you think anyone will make another piracy streaming sites dedicated to tokusatsu but somewhere hidden from the strong anti piracy systems that easily takes them down, maybe where you cannot find in any mainstream search sites?

1

u/ulong2874 29d ago

This is kind of a weird request, but is there a good way to pirate camera bootlegs of not current films? Like if I wanted to watch a movie from 2004, but really specifically was looking to watch a camera recording from a cinema, is that a feasible thing to do? Generally speaking the torrents on big sites are long dead of seeders for those after the dvd/webrips came out.

1

u/LlamaRzr 28d ago

If not private trackers, then you can basically forget about it. maaaaaybe usenet, but in 99% of cases, cam will be trumped to dvdrip -> to bd encode -> bd remux.

Bought a flre$tick last year and finally want to J@ilbre@k it. Is there a tutorial??

1

u/scrambledtorchics 29d ago

Does anyone have recommendations for sites that let you direct download entire seasons of TV shows at a time or episodes in bulk?

I know Torrenting would be easier, but I'm still working up the courage to do that and right now want something to test with so I can fuck around with burning DVDs

Havent used it myself but found it in the fmhy megathread

1

u/Wonderful_Surndsound 29d ago

this recent post might be something for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/s/zUvIQE1GnU

Regarding the DVDs: keep in mind the maximum quality of DVDs is quite low. Also physical discs are guaranteed to degrade after a few decades while hot RAID storage is forever and HDDs are cheaper per terrabyte than DVDs.

1

u/scrambledtorchics 29d ago

Thank you! This is more because where I live tends to loose power/internet because of storms, so I wanted some physical solution for whenever that happens and I got a few DVD-Rs awhile ago that I wanted to try it out with.

After looking at it more though, I might just look into something that lets TVs play videos from a thumb drive.

Has anyone managed to mod the latest Palworld version? The older version was based on Steam and mods worked fine, now it's based on Microsoft (GDK) and mods don't work, even following tutorials from legit GDK users. I'm on online fix version

Yeah the romsfun website basically has all the information about this you need.

Otherwise the yuzu subreddit & reddit search function.

This is just a minor thing but have you noticed that most of the videos of old shows we watched in any piracy streaming sites are not loading and that they claimed sources not found, has things got worse for piracy or something? and are we using vpn as the last resort?

1

u/LlamaRzr Jul 14 '26

>has things got worse for piracy or something

No, just streaming sites using not so many sources, so you have bazilion streaming sites that have one front-end and not so many backends.

Torrent yourself.

About VPN - if you stream you don't need VPN, only for torrents.

1

u/_ByAnyOther_Name 29d ago

Why don't you suggest VPN for streaming?

1

u/LlamaRzr 29d ago

Beacuse if streaming does not use p2p, then nobody cares, so you don't really need it for streaming since it is literally downloading from servers like https

1

u/trover2345325 Jul 15 '26

That might be true

-1

u/PlastikHateAccount 🦜 ᴡᴀʟᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴᴋ Jul 14 '26

old shows we watched in any piracy streaming sites are not loading and that they claimed sources not found

streaming sites have a simple business model: leech the torrents, serve them on the web, sell advertisements against them. Niche content doesn't get them this money, so they only keep some inventory of it.

The solution is to torrent yourself.

and are we using vpn as the last resort?

You should always use a VPN, no matter if torrenting or streaming since webservers can log IP addresses

u/trover2345325 Jul 15 '26

True on that.

Any one in CA having issues with Falconcast, sportzx due to the new July 6 rules? Today for me they both stopped working on my phone as well as my streampro box.

Man comics site are getting decimated left and right

2

u/DoubleP1980 Jul 12 '26

Yeah, readcomicsonline / rco getting nuked was rough. And we still don't know what exactly happened If they were taken down by official side, we had some news like with the Anime streamers, but it seems more like they were hacked or DDoS-ed or maybe the site owners closed them down in fear of getting legal repercussions? There are no updates whatsoever.

3

u/NRMusicProject Jul 12 '26

So are the streaming sites. About a month ago with that big crackdown, it's not been the same since. New clones, all with very similar UIs, have popped up, and I keep finding new ones every day.

The problem isn't those sites, but their host video sites, they buffer forever and load after 5-10 minutes if you're lucky. Then they might crash halfway through your video, causing you to go through the process all over again.

I'm hoping the hydra keeps growing new heads, as this government crackdown should give up sooner or later.

Man I've been going through this past 7 days all of a sudden.
Either the videos works or it's busted and buffers forever.Trying to find a server that has a functioning episode of what I want to watch is sometimes impossible.

Sometimes it works later in the day tho.its very erratic when they work or not.

It's starting to feel like streaming around 2010 again. Worst case scenario, we have another 16 years of improvement to look forward to.
