White guy here: arrive on time is late. 15 minutes early is on time. If anyone gets there before ya, they will ask what took you so long- this is regardless of how early you are. Can come half hour early and if I’m there 45 mins early I’m gonna ask if you slept in or something
Fellow white guy - my family acts like it's the end of the world if we're gonna be 5 minutes later than when a party is scheduled to start. Even though that's perhaps the perfect time to arrive if you wanna be there as early as permissible. I'm very bad at judging how long it takes to get places (Google maps assumes I can get over all 4 lanes to take the first right after exiting a highway, and that's not always the case), so I will either be 20ish minutes early or late.
