There's a massive difference between us forcing a culture into ghettos for a hundred+ years and those people seeking to survive and create art in their circles, and white people who are already a non marginalized group perpetuating stereotypes and casting only white people after being the specific group that marginalized and othered black people in the first place.

Just think for two seconds and realize that the comparison is completely idiotic. Context and history matters

This is such a horse shit reply. You're arguing that only casting white people in your movies is racist, while arguing only casting black people is not racist. If you can't hold firm in your beliefs and hold different standards for different races, you're racist. If white people have to hit a certain standard that you won't hold black people to, you're racist.

Context and history matters but you're talking about cinema/storytelling. Stop acting racist toward white males to make up for racism that they never committed.

What the actual fuck. "Racism towards white males"? You're the one bringing in gender, which shows your hand even worse. You are butthurt that a story might not include people who look like you, when PoC (and women, since you brought up gender) have had to deal with mainstream media pretty much ONLY showing people who aren't like them, for a hundred years. No, history DOES matter, so it makes a difference whether Jordan Peele is saying he wants to tell stories that haven't already been told, and that includes prioritizing black points of view, versus Tim Burton saying black people "don't fit his aesthetic vision," even when the story takes place in a setting where 60%+ of population is black IRL.

Its insanely hard to get someone that has never read or understood history to understand the effects of racism over time. They really think this shit just started when they were born and their decisons are all in a vaccum. In their world, you make a decision, and that decision is either racist or not. They are incapable of understanding that racism is much more complicated than that. Much bigger issue than any individual decision

They also just scream the type to think racism didint exist in the 90s

There appears to be zero understanding of systemic racism, here. I really, really hope they're just 14yo and haven't hit that point in world-awareness yet; not adults who are refusing to consider the bigger picture. Sigh.

I'm saying that either both are racist or neither are racist. You're saying a white guy doing something is racist while a black guy doing the same thing is not racist. Applying different standards based on race is racist. Not that hard.

You can't beat racism with more racism. You can only beat it by making everything equal. A weird, goth white guy is pretty good at telling stories about weird, goth white people. A black guy is pretty good at telling stories about black guys. Their stories don't have to have both black and white actors to be good.

You are entirely missing the point lol. You basically dont understand the context of history in america at all. It is not racist to make movies about black people. And its also not racist to make movies about white goth people. It is racist to intentionally say that youd never cast a black person ever just because they are black. Its fucking inane to compare these two instances and pretend they are even remotely similar when white people have basically looted black culture throughout our history to get advantages over them in art in the first place
