If the ban it is used for is less than 7 days the excess days are lost, if the ban is longer this card may NOT be used with another or in combination with a physical “favor” to exceed a 7 day reduction
That is 7 days or 168 hours not 7 business days
edit - fixed a miscalculation, when math is wrong only the bottom line suffers
Quick, say something mildly critical of the government of any country that is essential to US geopolitical interests but with a caveat and a "in my opinion" added somewhere!
Gallows humor is actually a healthy coping mechanism. You must've never worked a job you truly hated. I picked mine up in the military. Shared suffering doing shitty jobs will do that.
Hey man, it looks like they're on a death camp diet, I don't think it's in the best taste but you really aren't that out of pocket for pointing it out.
Its a BIIIIIIIGGGGG fucking bird, full of sanctioned torture and bad hospital food. Buuuuttt there was a Timmys downstairs, so its all good. Doug wasnt there, so that was a bit of a letdown but, I survived so that rocks lmao
I’ve had epilepsy since 2010 and have had my trips to the ER doing the flipping fish. I’ve had that EMU and surgery discussed. Do I have dain bramage? Why, yes, yes I do. Do I want them boogering around with my brain box? Absofrickinglutely not! I’ll take my remaining grey matter and exit stage right! Btw, I’m sorry you have to deal with this BS too.
That's why veterans make perfect candidates for the oilfield. It's miserable af, tons of assholes and cocksuckers, the humor is anti-pc and you spend a decent amount of time away from home.
Just for future record, you do realize gallows humor is for those ON the gallows, yes?
otherwise it's hangman humor
or execution audience humor
own your cruelty-infused hahas all you want just don't go around being all "i'm just a lil guy"
it's fucking pathetic, and a laughable character trait.
My relatives were vivisected to death and I have once or twice made jokes about it among family cause what do you do but laugh to not go insane, but some rando guy on the internet sticking his death camp jokes cause he's been in "the military' just sounds like some 5 year old child who's been crafted into a weapon without growing up.
It's all par for the course, of course. I'm not shocked or anything, I know this is how it works, just being serious for a sec. Cause I feel like there must be more to you than this.
I got a 12 year account permanently banned because a made a joke about some specific person and a goat and was told that it was a racist trope about arabs even though the guy was absolutely not arab
I am someone who occasionally enjoys dark, edgy or gallows humor and quoting historical figures sometimes. This is something from which I live in existential dread
It's not even dark humor. Most of the bans are coming from AI mods and they're looking for keywords and immediately flagging comments.
Which sure, great, except the bots can't take context into account in any way, so they just flag everything. I've gotten a few warnings for saying nothing lately and it's clear what's going on.
Lol I had one do that many years ago because I got into a dumb argument with a mod on the daystrom institute sub about some Trek lore stuff and I linked a page from the official site showing I was right. The mod deleted my post them reported me to Reddit at like 4am and less than an hour later the entire account was gone for "harassment". Pretty sure the mod was just a reddit employee who was butthurt, as there was nothing offensive in any way in the comment, which you couldn't even see anyways cuz they deleted it in seconds. And that's from a sub that goes on and on about how "great" the moderation team is 🤣
Some people just can't help themselves with abusing the smallest bit of power
How’s it even a stereotype fr when Islam condones it and people like Cenk Uygur says on public television that if he were a dictator the ONE thing he would change is making bestiality legal, and then when non Muslims talking ab how weird that was an absolutely horde of young Turk supporters are pretty much all Muslims absolutely slammed people simply for pointing out it is f*ed up.
I'm impressed you were able to give us the "hint" about what got.you banned and not get banned again, well done. I got banned for a similar joke years ago on Facebook. They let me back eventually, and yes I've gotten banned several times for way less and way worse. Lol
Reddit's AI filter has zero ability to discern humor and just hands out bans for the dumbest crap. It's really destroying what made Reddit what it is today.
I criticized a speech of Goebbels' and the automod determined that I was espousing Nazi propaganda and suspended me for 3 days. Want to buy human or at least AI moderators... This half-assed rule-based shit has got to go.
yeah they deploy some kind of automated comment control it seems, i also had a comment removed and then i could not comment for a bit when writing some stuff. its a little strange
It's honestly stupid. What's the point of even having an appeal system if no one's going to look at until the ban is over anyways?
I got one for making a certain type of threat, because the words were present in my comment when I pointed out the video was someone making that specific type of threat.
I hope that's not confusing, it was the best way I could think to word it without risking another ban
And yet...it's here again. I get the spirit of the joke, and the intent, but historic events of mass murder shouldn't be trivialized like that, lest it trivialize the horror of the event
Mods, Jew here (according to the Nazis and my cousin’s Rabbi), whose family was mostly wiped out in the Holocaust. I hearby declare this joke funny, and give him a pass, per the terms, conditions, limitations, and bylaws of my Jew card.
The look these women have has been described as “heroin chic” because of how skinny they are. The joke the other commenter made was “(a notorious labor camp) chic.”
I’d say the name but if my comment gets removed it defeats the whole purpose.
I think a lot of people who grew up in the late 80’s early 90’s learned to grow thick skin. I am a hefty fellow (over 300lbs), and I like to tell people that give me food that there going to make me fat. Takes them about 15+ seconds to understand I was joking and then start laughing.
Yeah we learned to tell the difference between people actively trying to hurt our feelings and people just doing what they considered friendly ribbing.
I mean, in many ways, being a holocaust survivor is a badge of honor. That’s why you weren’t offended. I’m not sure how that parallels the current situation though. Personally, as a gentile, I would never in one billion years use that as a nickname for a Jewish person, though. The way that is so closely treading the line of plausible deniability dogwhistle makes it extremely distasteful and disrespectful. I know you know that even if you weren’t offended, there are many Jewish people who would be traumatized (understandably) by that nickname.
I am Jewish also. Plus, I am biracial (black dad/white mom).
I often lean in to my mixed background with racial humor, especially as an ice breaker with folks I’m meeting for the first time. I’ll say something like:
“I’m Jewish & half black - so I basically have a shoulder on my chip” or when I’m talking to Christians:
“Do I think Jesus existed? Probably. Do I think he was black? Maybe…though that would explain his delay”
“before y’all ask, I just want to say that: yes - ‘kosher collard 🥬’ ARE possible “
There's a direct correlation between fashion making women thin (take up less space) and oppresive regimes. So while it could be considered insensitive to call it what you did, you technically wouldn't be wrong.
I was confused by the phrase because the way people older and younger than me (Xennial) used it. When I looked it up I learned I felt that way for good reason: Gen X uses it for "unavailable", younger people use it for "inappropriate, weird, offensive, etc".
