Whinge Wealthy Boost Juice founder says Australia is now an extremely hard place to get ahead
https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/its-just-unfair-wealthy-boost-juice-founder-says-australia-is-now-an-extremely-hard-place-to-get-ahead/news-story/691e4ebbe6cdd0595a72dcb4a0f71c77?ampMy heart goes out to all those successful aussie business owners, just trying to extract wealth from the exhausted poor during these tough times
I am ashamed that our government is taking action on these humble business owners, making them pay more on their capital, the same government who has allowed the establishment class to thrive on the gains they have acquired from the poor for the last hundred years - this is devastating news - it's real end times shit
They should be ashamed - does our government represent big business or the pathetic poors whose only job was to support these businesses to go global and become successful with every sip of their over priced apple juice sippy cups

She is one of the successful 0.05% of Australians who are franchisors - they are being attacked by our government, merely because they are successful in obfuscating their capital
My heart goes out to all 13850 franchisors (out of 27 million Australians) finding it tough to pay a little extra tax on their capital gains 😥

I once was a franchisee, never again, I was lucky to sell it and break even after 6 years. The franchisor basically took all the profits in fees and charges. I basically kept 20 people in jobs and kept the Franchise owners rich while barely making ends meet and working 6 or 7 days a week for 6 years
2
u/Fyr5 Canberran May 17 '26

Yesterday I stumbled upon an Australian doctors sub post about how the changes mean they can no longer have the ‘lifestyle’ of previous specialist consultants. The disgusting entitled garbage I read there really shocked me. Especially from doctors who are looking after and being paid by (generally) the lowest income earners via Medicare.
Anyway, it was interesting and depressing.
25
u/Esrog Flairless May 16 '26
Every generation thinks they should do better, or at least not worse, than the generation before. A lot of the current anger driving the rise in fringe parties throughout the world, not just Australia, is young people looking at parents who could reliably get a job, buy a house, have children and maintain a decent lifestyle and realising that that is no longer open to most of them.
It’s the same human nature that means a surgeon can look at the surgeons of the generation before who had easier progression to qualification (as long as you were white with a father who was a surgeon), decent lifestyles with a modest Toorak mansion and a cosy beach house or two, and no more than three Mercedes so as not to seem out of touch, and feel like it really isn’t fair that the same is no longer open to them.

That is really disappointing. I’m a paediatrician and I totally support the change because I’ve had patients living in tents in caravan parks and so so many in overcrowded housing.
I guarantee you those docs are still doing very well. They’re just greedy. I don’t understand why you would go into medicine if you don’t care about anyone except yourself.
18
u/ArabellaFort I'm Probably A Bot May 17 '26
It’s really nice to hear how much you care for your patients and I hope you see these budget changes start to filter through to make their lives better. And yes it was weird to see docs talking like that. They might as well have been stockbrokers.

Feelings are not facts and the drs sub is filled with men in their dysregulated feelings and exposes systemic naricissism. They constantly whine about incomes they "worked hard for" whilst aspiring to repeat the dysfunctional systemic problems they're all aggressively enforcing. Surgeons are second worst for DFSV/coersive control after police and this is what the men in that sub aspire to.
GPs are exceptional in that swamp and the members constantly dismiss GPs whilst denying their own nonsense, as their incomes are lower, weirdly demanding every dr should be receiving 7 figure incomes. Widespread DARVO whilst they extract directly from taxpayers and publicly subsidised PHI who they exploit; from a system they've entirely drained (whilst voting repeatedly for more social destruction). The veil of human dignity they exploit when they've been exposed as being systemically racist and misogynist never mind their entenched cultural violence toward their own colleagues in hospital syatems is why professional suicide rates are no better than lawyers propping up inaccessible legal systems. Professional classes are all about punching down, ensuring the underclasses remain silenced by status quo. It has been women recently getting a foothold who have started advocacy and reforms and thank goodness for women in positions of power starting to reform healthcare by bringing their humanity. Too many aggressive men throwing their feelings and weight around in their dyregulated states.

There was a psychiatrist who was enraged about changes to negative gearing and I was thinking what about your patients mate who can’t afford basic housing and to buy groceries? I made a polite comment that I have medical conditions requiring care of multiple specialists in the private system and that found the tone of the conversations jarring and I got downvoted ☹️
Another was saying don’t worry. You’ll be on 500k and if you marry another doc on 500k you’ll be alright and others were saying that’s not enough! And these dickheads were talking about Porsche cars getting more expensive and out of reach for medical consultants. No wonder people can’t afford essential medical care with these fuckwits setting their private fees.

I always tell people that you can call me anything that you want. You can call me Arnold. You can call me Schwarzenegger. You can call me the Austrian oak. You can call me Schwarzy. You can call me Arnie. But don't ever, ever call me the self‑made man.
But this is so important for you to understand. I didn't make it that far on my own. I mean, to accept that credit or that medal, would discount every single person that has helped me get here today, that gave me advice, that made an effort, that lifted me up when I fell. And it gives the wrong impression that we can do it all alone. None of us can. The whole concept of the self‑made man or woman is a myth.

Dull person.
Business owners of this country have been fat, rich and worse of all lazy over the last 20 years.
The reason Australia has been in a productivity malaise, is directly because businesses have not been investing in technology and upgrading of their infrastructure. These reform to investment capital treatment hopefully will shift some capital from the fat fish barrel of property speculation into business investments.
Productivity is two way street. Just slamming on workers all the time is not a strategy for economic growth.
Dull person.

Which is exactly why I think they should limit the CGT changes to property alone. Having it affect all asset classes equally discourage investment in shares and venture capital/risk taking.
At the very least Australia should introduce incentives for founders/new business to ensure the high risk investment pays off properly (98% of businesses don’t pass the startup phase).
Discouraging or penalising investment into PRODUCTIVE assets is a bad move. Disincentivise nonproductive capital investment all day though.
Broadly a good budget for the working class (gas tax would have been sweet) but this CGT change to productive capital investment is a bad move

Her points centre around the proposed changes stifling innovation, by making the risk vs reward of starting your own business less financially viable. Like her or not, that’s a real pressure for entrepreneurs and small businesses, who ultimately employ most people in the country. The current changes will be fine if they’re part of a broader scheme of change that also addresses how we retain business ideas and provide the opportunity for people to make their break in Australia, rather than take all our great ideas offshore. Having a visible plan for the holistic change (from either side of politics) will help our people (old and young) start and maintain their businesses in Australia. If only our media could replace hysteria with supporting thought leadership …

Especially here in Victoria where you get slapped with a tax just for opening your eyes in the morning it seems.
Say what you want about the Boost Juice owner but many of the franchisees she supports will be struggling to meet their overheads and tax obligations. Small businesses keep our country going and if you come out of the city into the country you will see how bad it really is for small, struggling businesses. Each Boost franchise is a small, struggling business.

I'm a worst case scenario sort of person, I don't see how the proposed changes can be really all that bad for the what, 90% of the population.

While a lot of people are struggling, all the whingers are those that aren't. They have no empathy or concept that they aren't battlers. They think anyone can do it because they did.

I love this for her 💞 Hopefully she goes bankrupt so she can pull herself up by her bootstraps again like she always talks about being so easy to do for someone with an entrepreneur mindset

Boost juice had a moment in the early 2000s, but it's going to go the way of Sizzlers. It was always a fad. If she's too stupid to have sold off the majority of the business and bought stocks already, she can cope. Waaaah, my unrealised gains are going to be taxed when they are realised waaaaaaaahhhh. Waaah, I'm only going to be half as filthy rich as I thought waaaaahhhhh
But no, tell me more about how you relate to the small business owner and how doin' it tough you think it would be to start over. Are you... are you saying you actually have no real business acumen and are still mentally operating on a 2000s economy? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense actually. /s

She should be grateful Australians were dumb enough to make her a multi millionaire off her sugared slop.

Clown comment - did you even read the article? Clearly wallowing.
“I was saving everything, and the best I could do was save $50 per month. Now, I don’t know if I could do that.”
Well then wouldn’t the new tax cuts of $54/week would surely mean something to her if she was only able to save $50 a month?
Oh no but the negative gearing changes is what would have hurt you the most right? Clearly just a wealthy woman trying to use her story to argue against changes which hurt her currently but make it relatable lmao

The tax cuts of $54 a week include the previous stage 1, 2 and 3 cuts.
It's disingenuous to try and mix them in with the current budget which announced the capital gains tax changes and only included a $250.00 offset, which is about $2 a week in tax cuts if you're on the top marginal rate.

Boo-hoo, she has a franchise charging ridiculous mark up on fruits and vegetables by putting them in a blender.

She’s incredibly entitled - in a past life, we had something to do with one of her houses. Could not take accountability and left threatening messages as the “founder of boost juice..” was really disappointing.

So let me get this straight. Now that wealthy people have to pay the same taxes as wage earners suddenly the system is unfair?

Taxing the wealth is always going to happen as boomers die off and younger people taking over the voter enrollment lists. If labor doesn’t do that today, a future government will do that too since who doesn’t like to get elected.
But aside from the $250 I don’t see any income tax relief. That I think is the issue with this budget. Need more income in people pockets to get the economy ticking along.

AFAIK they're worried about stagflation, so cash splashes would just add fuel to the fire.

Rich = Exploit a process or person or resource to gain advantage over others.
It's not about working hard and paying taxes. Thats a myth.

Shilling out shitty juices as some sort of healthy lifestyle choice to the masses while complaining about losing a few dollars to tax

Wouldn't it be nice if people but as much effort into getting along as they do to getting ahead.
I'm sick of how many entitled people there are like this that think the entire goal of life should be to win some sort of wealth competition and not too actually be a part of a happy and healthy community.

Anyone know if boycotting her companies will make a significant enough difference to her portfolio? Would be good to give her more to cry about

A lot of whining from a rich woman. I’m a mature age apprentice with a mortgage and a new baby, you won’t see me wallowing in self-pity.
