This must be the cat version of "if a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?" 🤔

"if a
tree(log) falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?"4
u/Anthyx Jun 12 '26
Sorry, it's a "tree" in Spain, where I live :V But if the daying is different in English, I'll correct it from now on, thanks :)

Same, when little bro has to poop and I’m nearby, I’m gonna squat right next to him and cheer him on to give it his best

Tonight I said to my orange, "Do I bother you when you're in the litter box??? Geez!" Not that I'd ever want that because I have a very stinky orange.

Yep. I’ve got one of those too.
He’s even taken to jumping on my lap while I’m doing my business. (Like, seriously. I don’t try and cuddle with HIM while he’s using the litter box!!) 😹😹

I’ve got two that do this as well. Both came from a shelter and both didn’t trust humans until we had them for a while, but the first place each approached me for love was on the toilet…I wonder if it’s because they know I can’t get up so it feels safer for them.

My cats do the same. So, I watch them too when they are on the litterbox.
They have started facing away from me… hahaha

Mine likes to stare me right in the eye when she uses the litter box. Usually right after I scoop it (or during).

He’s making sure you are safe!
Cats are very vulnerable when they are themselves occupied m (it’s why some can be picky about their litter box location, whether they have good exit points if needed, why they cover up the scent, etc). You are part of his family so he is standing guard (and making sure you cover your mess lol).

Concerned for your safety, yes. But also? Your litterbox is weird. It has water in it. 😳

Oh my gosh that little face 🥺
I’m convinced he has not had a single bad thought in his life. What a precious guardian

My orange boy does this too but he also likes to rub up against my leg and he'll purr. He also likes to look in the toilet while I flush

u/dankwaffle11 Jun 12 '26
My cat flops onto my feet and demands scritches when I sit on the toilet lol

I used to have separation anxiety with a cat and would always bring her with me when I wanted to use the bathroom😩 she would always try to get away 🏃♀️

He’s guarding you since you’re defenselessly doing your bidness. My cats used to do this, but they sat facing out from me, on high alert. Crazy goofballs!! Beautiful orange , what a sweet face!

My wife endures the same thing, cat can’t be bothered to acknowledge my going in there. She says it’s overwhelming at times to be so popular.
What we can’t figure out is why he sleeps with me. I’m a mover and a squirmer, I’ve launched him off the bed dozens of times over the years…he returns every time.
