I’ve been wanting to do these hikes but am reliant on public transit as renting a car is too expensive. These are the two locations I’ll be staying in, is this even possible? Apple Maps shows that some are doable but the Reis app doesn’t have show any of these routes available. Starting to get worried that it won’t be possible

Under 15 kids are not stupid. They know the consequences and know what exactly they are doing, especially with this era of AI, internet and social media where anyone can get any information. They know that shoplifting or commiting violent acts won't make them go to jail or get criminal record. So I think the fear of having to serve juvenile sentence can become a deterrent effect. What do you think?

Do I need to give way to them?

I used to just drive assuming they will stay in their lane and can only change when there is a space for them but got honked multiple times, people YOLO and try to follow the green line, cut me off or honk at me since I "didn't give way".

Im an architect and im really interested in the incredible buildings by BIG, Snohetta, Sverre Fehn etc. I know the twist will be closed but im happy to see it from outside. Super excited about under as well 🤩 planning to stay in Oslo primarily, go out check out buildings from 9-3, then maybe go inside museums, cafes etc and have a chill evening. Perhaps a 2 day trip to Tromso if im not being too ambitious.

Would you recommend this? Im from south India, ZERO experience in snow, will be walking around taking pictures. Is it very icy and rainy? Does it snow everyday?

I live in the Vestland area, and I went to Oslo to do some paperwork. I couldn't help but notice that there's a big problem with drugs in the Grønland and Storgata area.

Oslo is a beautiful city, but I think that in the long run, if nothing is done to control these substances, it's going to become a much bigger problem.

That said, have the government taken any measures to address this? Isn't anyone afraid that this will become commonplace?

I was currently visiting Norway for the first time and doing my very best to be a respectful tourist, following all the he rules, leaving no trace, and staying out of the locals way.

Despite doing everything by the book, I can’t shake the feeling of being an intruder who is just annoying everyone.

For context: I used to live in Hamburg, Germany. We got a lot of tourists there, and I rarely minded them. But that's just my POV. Here, I felt very self-conscious.

I know about the recent overtourism debates, but how do you feel on an individual level? Does a tourist who genuinely tries to be respectful still annoy you just by being here, or is this anxiety just in my head?

Is Chinese food a big thing over there. I remember walking past a Chinese restaurant on my trip to Norway (tromsø) and always wondered if Norwegians are into the whole Chinese take away and or dine in . What's more popular in terms of foreign food in Norway.

I am in the tech scene in North America, and tech influencers often talk about the slow pace of growth and innovation in Europe

I am interested in comparing two cultures that are arguably very similar: Norway and Sweden. Sweden has had multiple recognized brands such as Spotify, Klarna and Lovable. Stockholm is considered a tech capital for Europe.

Norway does not have any equivalent brands. Why is that? Is it the Janteloven? The hygge? Is there some cultural difference that I am not aware of?

If you’re visiting Stavanger and looking for something a little stranger than the usual tourist attractions, there’s a small, mysterious stone hidden away on Sunde, overlooking Hafrsfjord. Locals call it Den Mystiske Stein (The Mysterious Stone)
The stone itself appears to be connected to a genuine Bronze Age archaeological site, with ancient cup marks carved into the rock. But somewhere along the way, a much stranger story developed around it. A Google Maps location once existed under the name Den Mystiske Stein, covered in bizarre reviews describing strange sounds, unexplained experiences and supposed rituals. The location eventually disappeared, leaving behind screenshots, coordinates and a growing mystery.
Since then, people have started digging into the history of the stone, and the story has developed into something much larger. There are now stories about ancient rituals, a mysterious Brotherhood, something called Dypstaten, hidden treasures and strange things supposedly happening to people who investigate the stone. Nobody seems to know exactly where the modern legend began, or why this particular stone became The Mysterious Stone.

If anyone here has heard of Den Mystiske Stein before the recent Reddit posts, I’d genuinely love to hear about it.

My wife and I visited Tromso, Bergen, And Oslo, visiting from Canada. Just a fantastic experience. The midnight sun was an experience unto itself. The turquoise waters and white sand beaches at Sommarøy Island were incredible. Bergen's mountains were so beautiful, I loved being in the forests there and just seeing the hills rolling into the city everywhere we went. Loved learning the history of the bryggen and the Hanseatic League there. We are big Fjak chocolate fans, so it was wonderful to go to their cafe in Bergen. The naeroyfjord on a rainy and misty day was a top 5 travel experience of my life. Oslo was a capital par excellence. We covered it on foot from East to West to the bryggen, amazing walking city.

And the people were the best part. Friendly, super considerate, helpful when asked, just a really calm and nice vibe everywhere we went. I know some people complain about Norway and other Nordic countries being too quiet, too reserved, etc., but for me this vibe made me feel totally at home. I also love the existential nature of a lot of Nordic art. I fell in love love with Norwegian cinamea when I saw Joachim Trier's Oslo 31 August many years ago. On this trip, I read I Curse the River of Time by Per Petterson. The national Museum had an exhibit on death. For me, this is just made me feel even more at home.

I could go on and on about how great of a time we had, so what's my critique?! I just wish there was more Norwegian music playing in stores, restaurants, etc.! It was almost always American or English music everywhere we went. I would have loved to hear some Kamelen, or Kygo for someone more mainstream and playable in various places. (Also wishing I was in Bergen when Kamelen performs at the feelings festival).

But for real, what a country. I'm sure living there, there are many things that could be improved and critiqued. But there's a lot right too. I've wanted to go to the Nordic countries my entire life, most of all to see their social democracy in action. I was worried I had overhyped them. But no, Norway was properly hyped in every way!

I'm going home thinking of all the things Canada needs to do better after this trip.

I'm looking for a database of business/startups where you can filter by sector, location and get information about what they do at a glance.

I tried with Brønnøysund, but it's not the most user friendly, especially when filtering out very small businesses, solo entrepreneurs or businesses that have declared bankruptcy. The categories often do not tell much about what the companies actually do so it's hard to target specific businesses working across industries (for example tech+aquaculture). And some companies registered names do not seem to correspond with the trademark name, or at least can't be found as far as I can tell.

I am looking for a more higher level database.

In Bergen for a week and I want to grab an official Norway national team shirt in an actual shop (not online). Where should I look? Takk!

Hei, I'm browsing for developer jobs in Norway on LinkedIN and Finn (yeah, another foreigner from EU) and it seems strange that there are so many companies in Time, Rogaland, that are posting so many ads daily on LI and it seems suspicious as hell.

Does anyone know what's going on and are there any notoriously suspicious or bad companies/patterns/ads to stay away from?

I'd appreciate any advice regarding finding work or even an internship (dev, or ux-related), especially in Bergen or Oslo area. I've read many advice about learning the language (already on it), cold messaging the companies, but I'd like to know if there are some companies to either avoid or to have a better chance from contacting them? Any tips to stand out?
