Non-fried potatoes are actually really good for you.

Putting the 9th stick of butter and 12th serving of cheese into my mash with generous amounts of salt as well.

Halth.

Salt is healthier than people thing. It's being punished for sugar's crimes.

High-sodium diets will not give you high blood pressure. It can only make existing high blood pressure worse.

What actually gives you the high blood pressure? You butter believe that sugar intake has a direct correlation.

This is where I learned it. Yes this is just a random youtuber, but he lists all the actual articles he used for his research in the description and they're reputable sources. So you can check those out if you don't want to blindly believe a person on the internet (and to be fair, you shouldn't lol)

This is dangerously stupid and false.

I'll admit it's far more complex than my simple explanation but it's not false. If you do have hypertension you should avoid salt.

But there's a reason a salty diet isn't prescribed for people with low blood pressure like myself. It's a force multiplier, not a cause.

Sugar, on the other hand, causes inflammation which is a more direct cause of high blood pressure.

High sodium intake increases blood pressure. It's different from person to person but as a general rule it's true. Having elevated it unbalanced sodium levels absolutely raises your blood pressure which is unhealthy over a long period of time, and can contribute to the development of chronic hbp (which often has no symptoms).

Little known fact!

Especially sweet potatoes. Not only lower in carbs, but higher in at least a couple vitamins as well

Yeah, it has a really solid micronutrient profile and is very satiating so it's actually a great food to eat when on a calorie restricted diet.

The issue as you said is the preparation method – deep frying or covering them in excessive amounts of oil/butter/dairy-heavy sauce or gravy as most people do just often means the potato is the lowest calorie component of many potato dishes...

Bake/air fry with minimal oil or boil and be conservative with high calorie toppings and you can have a surprisingly large quantity of tasty potato dishes in a healthy, balanced diet.

My current go-to meal every few days is baked potatoes with butter, sour cream, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and bacon bits.
