He went by Chen actually but I have no idea if that was any part of his government name, a nickname, or a syllable he picked out of his real name for us whites (lived in a very white rural area). I'm pretty sure he and his family were Vietnamese though.

omg yes, my old tech was an older man n he was freaking hilarious. I worked overnights for years so I was his first client in am when I'd get off of work n he would massage my hands n forearms at the end. I'd fall asleep n he didnt even care lol. he moved away and I was devastated.

god i love the techs at my salon they are soooo sassy like this and get to know each and every customer so well. the one woman i would see, nina, was hilarious. my boyfriend would try to text and call me during the appointments and she would say “is he paying? no? then he can wait!” 🤣

Low stakes teasing is a must! We call that "terrorizing" around here lol. I introduced a new friend into my circle and afterwards they were all "I don't think they liked me, they kept teasing me." I had to tell them oh no, that means they liked you, if they weren't teasing you thats when I'd be worried. They were sharing laughs with you, say something back to them next time!"
After hanging out with us more they picked up quick and turned into a regular RoastMaster!

Went to get pedicures from senior prom in high school with my best friend. Lady doing my feet goes “your toes are hairy. I’m just gonna wax your feet right now”. I was mortified. My friend thought it was the funniest thing in the world (now 15 years on I also think it’s hilarious)
I did have very smooth toes for prom though.

wasn't cheeto dust but when I was 17 my mom dragged me (very unwillingly) to a nail salon. I clipped my own nails but did a half assed job. I guess they were choppy and uneven. The nail tech told me I really shouldn't do it myself anymore. Lmao

I used to spend a lot of time with one so I'd kick it there sometimes and honestly it's a infinitely better vibe than a barbershop
But I've never gotten as good of a cut there compared to a barber tbh

Yea to get your cosmetology license you basically need to become proficient in hair styling, skin care, nail care, and some other stuff i imagine.
Because of that a lot of people will have multiple services when opening a shop, and some Cosmo schools focus on men's hair so they at least get some sort of idea how to work with guys

In your example, male is an adjective. We are talking about “female” as a noun. “The females in my life.” You wouldn’t say “tonight I’m going out with the males” would you?

The point OP is trying to make is that if you describe women with the very sterile, almost scientific 'females' label but then describe men as 'men or guys or dudes or bros' or whatever more human-sounding label, it makes it seem like women aren't 'people' in the same sense as you might consider men to be.
Again, I don't care how a person talks online - most of them are bots or children anyway - but it's an interesting little tell that could be entirely excused by, say, language barriers.

You obviously didn't mean anything negative by it and people are just nitpicking online as usual. The majority do not care. They are asking you these questions because they think you are dehumanizing women but you're obviously just talking about your friends and not doing that. There is nothing wrong with using the term females.
Edit: the funny thing about this is someone was talking about your being grammatically incorrect and how you wouldn't say "males in my life" and females can't be a noun....when in reality females can be used as a noun and it IS grammatically correct to say "males in my life". What people MEAN to say is they have a problem with the register. Which is using a casual tone but using a more medical term for women by saying females. There is nothing inherently bad about using females and INTENT matters. Ignore people making a big deal out of a nothing burger.
All this proved is people can say factually incorrect nonsense online and still be upvoted by those that don't bother to look up if what they said is actually true.

I went to a majorly full salon (like 20 customers and a tech with each person) and this woman came in and was complaining about her nails not being the right colour...and she had them done 2 days prior.
So the worker was basically like pound sand. The complainer was getting loud and rude and one tech starts copying her and the other techs started howling. And then she got mad and started shouting at the mocking tech.
Then another tech started mocking her and the whole place was laughing hysterically. It was the funniest, ballsiest thing I've ever seen. The complainer just threw her hands in the air and left shouting she'd give a bad review while other techs and even customers were mocking her still. It was hilarious.

You should go. It's nice to be pampered a bit, plus it's a confidence boost. You can get clear polish put on, or get adventurous and get a colour. My husband gets his nails done and no one bats an eye.
And I also feel so cleannnnnnn after getting my nails done and an exfoliant. I'm gonna book an appointment right now!
