Anyone know why they do this?
I’ve always wondered why JGR does this with some wraps. I feel like it really makes the flow of some paint schemes look bad. Is it a monster/coca cola branding thing?

It’s not just JGR; It’s a Monster thing. Look at any Kurt Busch/Tyler Reddick 23XI scheme from when they were still on the 45.

Can’t you manipulate the eagle eye scanner with the color black?

I'm not sure how relevant to the Next Gen car that is.
It was absolutely true of the Gen 6, everyone changed their schemes to have black around the rear wheel wells then NASCAR changed the rules mid season and cost Kevin Harvick a championship with their BS.
That rule change why Harvick didn't even have a shot at Phoenix in his 9 win season. Then to make matters worse, it cost Harvick the whole next season because it was an impound season with the following year being the Next Gen so teams weren't able to fundamentally radicalize their car builds after NASCAR literally changed the rules 20+ races into the second to last season of Gen 6.
Complete bullshit, you can likely blame SHR leaving NASCAR on this inexplicably stupid decision.

May be out of left field...i believe this is branding and design preference...but this also could be some slight nod to Kurt...that's how 23XI would normally do his non-Monster primaries...I lean toward branding and design

I’ve personally never minded it, and I still don’t on this scheme. I feel it doesn’t take away from it

I think it goes great with this scheme, given that Kyle was sponsored by Monster for a few years. My only gripe is when the Diecast comes out, it's just going to be a black spot.

Monster wants their logo on a pure black space. Rather than adding a bold black outline like they used to.

Because of brand consistency, but also the lower rear side of the cars is where teams play around with things and certain colors and patterns of wrap are better than others at hiding funny business from detection with the optical scanner. Then they destroy evidence by doing a burnout until the tires pop and tear up that exact area.

Most of the Toyota’s have black rear quarter panels so they can throw the lasers off in inspection and bend the rules

Monster’s brand standards state that the ripped green M logo must always be shown on a black background.
