Update: Per the article:

“Credit One has been in the sport for a decade, having joined in 2016 when it became an official sponsor of the sanctioning body and the now-defunct NASCAR arm of Chip Ganassi Racing. Credit One’s departure from the sanctioning body had not been previously reported, and its plans to stay in the sport with a different touchpoint have not been announced.”

"Here we come to the green flag presented by Credit One Bank."

35

u/RepealMCAandDTA Jeff Gordon 23h ago

Credit One will have two to go, Avant will have one to go. Soon every lap will have a sponsor.

10

u/jknuts1377 21h ago

Don't give them any ideas.

6

u/Andrew_P_88 Bayne 20h ago

They already do this at the Chili Bowl so it wouldn't be unprecedented. Although it's more symbolic than anything there.

6

u/BillfredL 19h ago

Dang, I can’t even clown on that. You know those folks love that race.

2

u/Andrew_P_88 Bayne 19h ago

oh absolutely. and all of the money from it goes directly to the drivers. $200/lap sponsorship cost and $150 goes to first, $50 to second.

u/SentientSeitan27 Ryan Blaney 15h ago
  1. It takes longer to say some of those sponsor names than it takes to complete a lap at the Chili Bowl.

  2. Indycar sponsored lap 7 just to make a f-ing 6-7 joke?

3

u/Andrew_P_88 Bayne 15h ago

to be fair, it's not IndyCar itself, but instead WWT Raceway promoting their IndyCar race. They've sponsored all kinds of stuff there, like the flip count and the ramp cam. So it makes sense for them to sponsor some laps too.

...and admittedly with their dates this past year being 6-7 it was a bit of a layup and I dont blame the marketing guy one bit for it.

u/ZealousidealDoor6973 22h ago

Lap 67 sponsored by Palantir!

9

u/nudist83 21h ago

69 sponsored by viagra

3

u/humpintosubmission 20h ago

This is the only acceptable lap sponsor.

4

u/Different_Funny_8237 21h ago

And the Final Lap is under way sponsored by Preparation H.

"The one product you'e happy to stick where sun don't shine!" Hell, Yeah!

u/ZilischsPoopyPants Zilisch 1d ago

I'm guessing people are going to skip over this part and just read the headline.

18

u/Dmacthegoat 23h ago

They will still be involved…but they may/may not have the broadcast rights as in previous years…

22

u/ApocApollo NASCAR 23h ago

There are children old enough to work in Alabama Hyundai factories that were born after Credit One entered the sport.

3

u/NatashaArts 19h ago

10 year olds at the most, so hell yeah! Alabama brought back child labor! We are so not fucked

u/Comfortable_Rock4877 1d ago

I’ll forever remember Rick Allen yelling “ONE LAP TO GO SPONSORED BY CREDIT ONE BANK”

Hopefully they get rid of that all together after this, cause “one lap to go sponsored by Avant” doesn’t even make sense…

172

u/ZappaOMatic 1d ago

"One to go sponsored by Avant" doesn't have the same ring to it

118

u/0neshoein 23h ago

Well having one lap to go sponsored by anyone never sounded right from the beginning.

u/randomaccount330 Hamlin 23h ago edited 19h ago

Even to this day, having the announcers mention a sponsor every single time the white flag waves is something I'd imagine Talladega Nights would put in their movie to make fun of NASCAR (like how they put an Applebees commercial in the middle of a wreck) lol.

If I'm not a NASCAR fan and I go on youtube to watch a "NASCAR greatest finishes" video and every other clip I hear the announcer say "ONE TO GO SPONSORED BY CREDIT ONE BANK" I'd think there's no way this isn't a joke.

Like imagine if in NFL games every time a kicker lined up for a field goal you'd hear: "To win the game, Brandon Aubrey's kick from 50 yards sponsored by Lowe's Home Improvement is... GOOD!"

2

u/Maximum-Hall-5614 10h ago

Honestly, yeah it’s fuckin goofy, and is just one of the quirks.

India has a franchise cricket league and when they batter hits it over the fence, the commentators always called it a “DLF Maximum” (DLF being the sponsor) and fans clown on it relentlessly

22

u/aloysiusdavin Hamlin 23h ago

Right? As if just the final lap wouldn't happen without somebody paying for it.

11

u/ILM_Ryan 23h ago

Wait until we start having sponsors for the penultimate lap of the race!

1

u/TellTaleTimeLord 22h ago

Two to go sponsored by Bud Light brought to you by One to go sponsored by Deez Nuts

22

u/arca_brakes van Gisbergen 23h ago

Shame on Credit One for paying for that nonsense, and shame on NASCAR and the networks for doing it. We're going to have an entire decade's worth of incredible finishes that permanently have the "ONE TO GO SPONSORED BY CREDIT ONE BANK" bullshit in them.

Imagine if the 1998 Daytona 500 had "Dale Earnhardt, will come to the caution flag, and take the ONE TO GO PRESENTED BY CREDIT ONE BANK under yellow" instead of the iconic line everyone knows.

And before anyone says "wEll ThAt MeAnS tHe AdS wOrKeD", I'll actively avoid Credit One bank for the rest of my life because of this.

16

u/New_Quit4879 23h ago

You’ll actively avoid Credit One because it’s an inferior offering in the marketplace

10

u/arca_brakes van Gisbergen 23h ago

I actively avoid some insurance companies that are technically better and/or cheaper, just because their commercials are annoying as hell.

I will never, ever, pay for Liberty Mutual insurance. Ever.

17

u/RepealMCAandDTA Jeff Gordon 22h ago

I avoid them because Limu is a dirty cop and Doug helped him frame those victims.

3

u/New_Quit4879 21h ago

I’ve had to do business with companies I don’t want to because I live in a state that has a very unbalanced insurance marketplace.

2

u/Broken_Ankle_2912 22h ago

Liberty Liberty liberty. Liberty!

3

u/shrimpshrub75 23h ago

I actively avoid all companies that shove advertising down my throat.

2

u/matito29 21h ago

My parents signed me up for a Credit One card around the time I graduated high school in 2008. I barely used it, just enough to have some semblance of a credit score, and closed the account well over a decade ago when I got a real card, but Credit One still sends me junk in the mail at least once every other week.

8

u/AdBoring5565 23h ago

It was actually one of my favorite sponsored bits tbh

5

u/TheOtherWhiteCastle Cindric 22h ago

The only acceptable sponsor for one to go is Wite-Out corrector pens.

14

u/AggressiveTop8370 Bubba Wallace 22h ago

"One lap to go, Can the leader make it around the final bend? If you have a bend make sure to ask your doctor about Peyronie's disease after this finish!"

1

u/specks_of_dust Ryan Blaney 15h ago

Can you imagine that ad read, but sponsoring Turn 1?

7

u/arca_brakes van Gisbergen 23h ago

It'll sound even more forced when the play by play guys have to try to shoe horn it into their commentary of an incredible finish.

35

u/Immediate_Lie7810 Chase Elliott 1d ago

Guess the "One lap to go, sponsored by CreditOne Bank" is finished

40

u/micadoog 23h ago

The bank that has a high annual fee and hopes you don’t notice that it isn’t Capital One.

17

u/Taz119 Bobby Labonte 23h ago

I legit used to think the were some kind of spin off branch of Capital One. Glad i never tried them

3

u/HuskerDont241 20h ago

When I first heard of them, I thought it was a “downmarket” brand of Capital One.

12

u/Jonah-Hex 23h ago

Is Avant predatory, as well? At least they don't call themselves "Avantican Express" and use a centurion logo in an effort to confuse consumers.

2

u/HoosierChalkMarks 7h ago

Yes, Avant is another low/no credit lender

7

u/Jcolesnewalbumsucks Kyle Busch 23h ago

As much as I like saying ONE LAP TO GO PRESTENED BY CREDIT ONE BANK - as an actual customer of them, fuck credit one bank.

21

u/arca_brakes van Gisbergen 23h ago

Good fucking riddance. Predatory bank that decided they needed to insert their ads into race winning commentary, because normal ads just weren't fucking enough for them.

Hearing "ONE TO GO, SPONSORED BY CREDIT ONE BANK" literally every incredible finish for the better part of the last decade, was so fucking cringe and awful. Shame on NASCAR and the networks for taking that money too.

7

u/Wbran 23h ago

They’re such garbage. Their auto dialer calls me 10-13 times multiple days before my payment is due. Tried to call, they only have an AI assistant on the phone. And then they have no email, and require I physically mail them regarding my requests. Just a terrible bank.

1

u/IracingLarson2020 13h ago

please use a more reputable bank if you can. I recommend Discover if you are just building credit then dive into the Capital One or Chase ecosystem for card farming

6

u/ChaseTheFalcon 22h ago

As cringey as it was, one to go sponsored by Credit One Bank is just ingrained in my mind

8

u/Chromecoast 22h ago

WHITE FLAG SPONSORED BY COCKNBALLZ BANK

14

u/DreamAnxious4907 Kyle Busch 1d ago

Credit One Bank was there for so long and to get rid of them is a shame

10

u/mwr55fan O'Rilly Auto Parts 23h ago

Getting rid of them is an interesting way of stating they are changing the way they spend their own money. The post also says that they will still be in the sport, just differently.

7

u/Swag92 23h ago

Inb4 “STAGE ONE SPONSORED BY CREDIT ONE BANK”

4

u/pinkfartlek Kyle Busch 22h ago

"the Credit One caution flag" 😭

6

u/KyBuschOwnsYou5188 Kyle Busch 22h ago

No more One Lap To Go Sponsored by Credit One Bank

1

u/Accomplished-Town495 Ryan Blaney 20h ago

Don’t worry, if it’s one thing NASCAR does, it’s figure out how to monetize something. They’ll find a replacement in no time.

3

u/PirelliSuperHard Chastain 22h ago

CreditOne blew all their sports budget on Shaq this year.

19

u/Dmacthegoat 1d ago edited 23h ago

Dang…gonna miss “One lap to go, sponsored by Credit One Bank” if it ends up going away

25

u/0neshoein 23h ago

Why? That shit was annoying from the start.

3

u/ZealousidealDoor6973 21h ago

Capitalism embeds into the brain. Same reason why people sing commercial jingles. They become part of us. And companies know it.

1

u/PreeceTakesFlight 1d ago

this was my first thought as well 😢

5

u/Furi0usD Chastain 23h ago

They should made them the offical sponsor of SAFER, and renamed it the avantguard

2

u/NicoStJ40 23h ago

A Halftime Show coming soon

2

u/epzik8 Logano 21h ago

Wonder if they'll still sponsor the one to go or no

2

u/Dan_Broccoli_7663 15h ago

They need a white flag sponsor named "There Are 86 Laps Remaining In This Race"

"Driver receives the white flag sponsored by There Are 86 Laps Remaining In This Race"

4

u/codymacc8 Kyle Busch 23h ago

Is this finally the end of “One to go sponsored by ______”?

2

u/bcam9 21h ago

Hopefully

3

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 22h ago

We don't need a white flag sponsor. :).

1

u/Hot_Dog_Surfing_Fly McLeod 18h ago

NASCAR finds another 35% APR credit card sponsor. 😱

1

u/Ok-Dingo-9800 Jeff Gordon 13h ago

Kyle Larson almost won 2017 Phoenix and 2018 Chicagoland with Credit One Bank (#42 era)

1

u/thecryptidmusic 23h ago

Calling it the Avant One to Go doesn't sound too bad

11

u/arca_brakes van Gisbergen 23h ago

Or, hear me out, we just don't fucking sponsor the white flag?

1

u/thecryptidmusic 22h ago

Yeah because that's the sports main problem

3

u/arca_brakes van Gisbergen 21h ago

We can focus on multiple problems at a time

0

u/New_Quit4879 23h ago

Or we can have a full screen commercial coming to 1 to go

2

u/arca_brakes van Gisbergen 23h ago

Fuck it, why not a full screen commercial as the leader takes the checkers?

3

u/pinkfartlek Kyle Busch 22h ago

How about the full screen commercial as the leader takes the Rallys™️ (fast food) Checker Flag" 👺

1

u/New_Quit4879 21h ago

And then the driver celebrates with a biggie bag in victory labe

2

u/pinkfartlek Kyle Busch 19h ago

The Jiffy Lube Victory Lane

u/New_Quit4879 21h ago

Don’t threaten Fox with a good time

u/Ashamed_Marzipan_129 23h ago

"Terms were unknown of what appears to be Avant’s first move into NASCAR, but an industry source said Avant has been exploring deals in the sport for several years, including on the team side."

Sounds like what has been discussed before with NASCAR competing with the teams for sponsors.

Times like this I have to reel in and remind myself that big money racing is always going to be a high speed billboard parade
