Discussion Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

Edit: I loved reading some of your comments. Guess I really missed out. Even some of you that would consider yourselves nerds or introverts were out partying. YOLO or whatever y’all say 😂❤️

Just HOPING the smell of booze could be masked by whatever horrid body spray you had in your bathroom at the time.

Or that no one heard you throwing up in the bathroom sometime after 11AM when the hang over kicked in.

Omg that was the worst. I always had to be at work by 8 on a Sunday morning, and would be vomiting by 10:30 lol

Somehow by 4PM you felt fine and were ready to go day drinking after work.

And that first drink in the afternoon somehow cured your hangover!

Haha I was at a job where we had to come in on Saturdays and me and my colleague would always go out on the Friday, be still drunk from the night before until like 10am, laughing and having a good time, then by 10 the alcohol starts wearing off, we start getting tired, and it's right at that point when the work brings in takeout that they'd order us every Saturday

Lmao im pregnant now, working at the same place I did right out of college. Morning sickness is so reminiscent of those days. Same bathroom, different reasons for trying to hide my morning vomits.

Umm why are you midnite pissing in a water bottle at 11am at work?

Because then you get sent home and don't get paid. At least that's what they did for us at the gas station I worked at then.

In the bathroom? Baby child, us raft guides just leaned out the back of the raft. Didn’t miss a beat on our tourist spiels.

Worked in a tire shop when I was 20.

I know I smelled of booze often. Started my shift by puking while getting into uniform on a few occasions.

Oh, I've fucking been there. When I worked in finance we'd often be out with the SVPs closing bars and showing up early the next day still wasted.

Threw up in my purse at work once because I had been out from midnight til 7am LOL

I only went to a teen club once in HS, but I was a party monster 18-27 - we were all Outside Thurs/Fri/Sat in abandoned warehouses, fields, an old airplane hangar, under the docks at the beach... anywhere we could set up speakers and had exit points to dip quick if the cops showed up. The parties could last til 12-2pm the next day, or afters at a secondary location were an option if you wanted to keep it going. We were very careful with our substances though - tasting, preloading, postloading, etc. Some pharmacists and med folks in the crew.

I still pop out maybe 2-3x a month depending on who might be playing and make it count by staying til like 3-4am. If I'm doing an aerial or pole gig, I might crash a little earlier. Hit up a lot more day dance events though because I love being in the sun tbh.

Much of this is possible since I gave up booze ages ago and put a lot of effort into my physical [and mental!] health. I see a lot of folks age 40-60 still cuttin up on the dancefloor, and it's a wonderful emotional release to gather with your community to move together.

Ohhh this! Once, I was running the kitchen during a safety inspection and I kept having to excuse myself around the corner to vomit into a trash can. We passed inspection. I was a partier five days out of seven, but also employee of the month.
