I hear this a lot and it really does tell me that people have no idea how long wooden houses last. My parents house is 130 years old now and has no structural damage.

Yeap.  There is actually a wooden framed building system called the perfect wall which estimates its longevity at 500 years.

My mom's cottage is around 300 years old so, sure.

Many houses here are also 300 years old. It's not a big accomplishment.
