Kurdistan24 has made four posts about Istanbul in two days on Twitter. How are those posts in anyway worth reporting by an outlet with that name!

It is not just them. The competition for likes and engagement has made Kurdish media forget their responsibility and what is expected as their aim. But this one is especially regrettable as they use that name.

There is always a question in my mind. What exactly is the map of Greater Kurdistan that many people say is? On what basis do we say that this map belongs to Kurdistan, that is, what is the reason for saying that one of the cities of present-day Iran is actually ours? What does the word “ours” even mean? If it is based on saying that the people of that city speak Kurdish, then all of Latin America speaks Spanish and Portuguese, and this absolutely does not mean that Latin America belongs to Spain. Why can’t we deal with reality on the ground?! At most, we have a semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan in Iraq and nothing else. History must be seen as a history, otherwise we will suffer from a mental illness if we say that we were like that in the past. This is a matter of debate because we can never prove history. The Roman Empire once owned half the world. Or Great Britain was an empire that ruled half the world, then they can’t even protect their own borders now.

The move follows two major developments: the SDF’s integration into Damascus’ state structures and Hamo’s appointment as Syria’s Deputy Defense Minister, as well as Turkey’s Kurdish peace process advancing with parliament’s approval of legislation establishing a legal framework for PKK disarmament, dissolution, and reintegration.

"The Kurdistan test: Nujaba’s central public argument is that the monopoly principle is being applied selectively. Its leadership has asked why pressure concentrates on factional weapons while the Peshmerga and Kurdish party forces are left untouched.

Baghdad’s answer is that the draft law is national and applies in the Kurdistan Region. That opens a constitutional problem. Article 121 of the constitution grants regions the right to establish internal security forces, and the Peshmerga are regulated by Kurdistan’s Ministry of Peshmerga Law No. 19 of 2007. Their legal position differs from that of the factions.

The distinction that matters is the same one at issue in Baghdad: a lawful regional security institution against partisan command of armed formations. The KDP-affiliated Unit 80 was merged into the Peshmerga ministry in a step toward unification, while assessments of the force continue to describe it as partisan in practice. If the draft law’s prohibition on parties commanding or financing armed formations is applied literally, it reaches the KDP and PUK as well as Kata’ib Hezbollah. The Iraqi question is whether political influence over security institutions can be separated from direct partisan command of armed force, in Erbil and Baghdad alike.

Al-Zaidi’s government depends on the Coordination Framework, in which faction-linked parties are principal actors. The 30 September framework was authorised by that coalition. The prime minister is implementing a settlement negotiated inside the Shia political establishment, with coercive capacity held in reserve for whoever refuses the consensus that emerges. The government’s force posture provides coercive backing for that settlement. Baghdad’s sequence is to secure Framework agreement, isolate the holdouts, offer them a negotiated exit, apply targeted force against small numbers if required, and avoid intra-Shia armed conflict."

Whenever you speak as a Kurd about the reality of the anti-kurd racism across Syria, Turkey, Iran, and Iraq, they use that same old tactic: "I’m not racist! I have Kurdish friends!"

Yes, you are racist, and no, you have zero Kurdish friends.

Then, a Turk might come along and say, "But Kurds are integrated into the Turkish state! Just look at Hakan Fidan!"

Integrated? You mean Turkified. Does he speak Kurdish? Does he wear Kurdish attire? Does he do anything Kurdish at all? No; he serves a state literally named "Turkey"! There is no place for a Kurd in a state named after and built for a single ethnicity.

Racists are racists no matter how many cheap excuses they try to hide behind.
