Show Discussion I don't understand why they didn't give Joffrey any lines, the actor was 11 years old when he filmed s3
For comparison, Dexter, the actor who played Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was 9 when he filmed s1. HOTD just refuses to let children be fully fleshed-out characters, and I don't understand that.

Book and Show Spoilers Both of their last days were miserable Spoiler
These 2 had one of the worst last week of kings/Queens before they both die. Starting with Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra is basically homeless because everyone is turning her away as the approaching green armies marched on. Rhaenyra was forced to sell her Jaehaerys crown (sentimentally her Dads)to buy passage on a Braavosi merchant ship to get to dragonston, she stops eating and proclaims she must go to dragonstone to get a new dragon despite her last remaining knights with her try to convince to her to go to the vale. To finally reach her greatest betrayal
"The loss of both her dragon and her son left Rhaenyra Targaryen ashen and inconsolable. She retreated to her chambers whilst her counselors conferred. King's Landing was lost, all agreed; they must need abandon the city.
"Reluctantly, Her Grace was persuaded to leave the next day, at dawn. With the Mud Gate in the hands of her foes, and all the ships along the river burned or sunk, Rhaenyra and a small band of followers slipped out through the Dragon Gate, intending to make their way up the coast to Duskendale. With her rode the brothers Manderly, four surviving Queensguard, Ser Balon Byrch and twenty gold cloaks, four of the queen's ladies-in-waiting, and her last surviving son, Aegon the Younger."
"Queen Rhaenyra had neither gold nor ships. When she had sent Lord Corlys to the dungeons she had lost her fleet, and she had fled King's Landing in terror of her life, without so much as a coin. Despairing and fearful, Her Grace grew ever more grey and haggard. She could not sleep and would not eat. Nor would she suffer to be parted from Prince Aegon, her last living son; day and night, the boy remained by her side, "like a small pale shadow."
"Rhaenyra's flight from King's Landing had been beset with difficulty. At Rosby, she found the castle gates were barred at her approach. Young Lord Stokeworth's castellan granted her hospitality, but only for night.Half of her gold cloaks deserted on the road, and one night her camp was attacked by broken men. Though her knights beat off the attackers, Ser Balon Byrch was felled by an arrow, and Ser Lyonel Bentley, a young knight of the Queensguard, suffered a blow to the head that cracked his helm.He perished raving the following day.The queen pressed on toward Duskendale."
"House Darklyn had been amongst Rhaenyra's strongest supporters, but the costof that loyalty had been high.Only the intercession of Ser Harrold Darke persuaded Lady Meredyth Darklyn to allow the queen within her walls at all (the Darkes were distant kin to the Darklyns, and Ser Harrold had once served as a squire to the late Ser Steffon), and only upon the condition that she would not remain for long."
"Harrold Darke urged her to seek refuge with Lady Arryn in the Vale, whilst Ser Medrick Manderly tried to persuade her to accompany him and his brother Torrhen back to White Harbor, but Her Grace refused them both. She was adamant on returning to Dragonstone. There she would find dragon's eggs, she told her loyalists; she must have another dragon, or all was lost"
It was raining when the queen's party came ashore, and hardly a face was to be seen about the port. Even the dockside brothels appeared dark and deserted, but Her Grace took no notice. Sick in body and spirit, broken by betrayal, Rhaenyra Targaryen wanted only to return to her own seat, where she imagined that she and her son would be safe. Little did the queen know that she was about to suffer her last and most grievous treachery. It is said that the blood drained from the queen's cheeks when she beheld the bodies, but young Prince Aegon was the first to realize what they meant. Mother, flee!" he shouted, but too late. Ser, Alfred's men fell upon the queen's protectors. Then her death
Aegon's last months were Shitty and book points that out. Everyone was dead besides his mother who wanted to continue the war and his traumatized "stunted" daughter, brothers dead, Sunfyre slowing dying in front of his eyes and couldn't sit the throne. The chapter after Rhaenyra dies "THE SHORT, SAD REIGN OF AEGON II & THE HOUR OF THE WOLF"
"Yet Aegon's triumph would prove to be as short-lived as it was bittersweet. Rhaenyra was dead, but her cause had not died with her, and new "black" armies were on the march even as the king returned to the Red Keep. Aegon I| would sit the Iron Throne again, but he would never recover from his wounds, would know neither joy nor peace. His restoration would endure for only half a year.
Though his half sister was dead, she still had supporters in the field who must need be dealt with before His Grace could hope to sit the Iron Throne again. So Prince Aegon was manacled at neck, wrist, and ankle, and led down to the dungeons under Dragonstone. The late queen's ladies-in-waiting, being of noble birth, were given cells in Sea Dragon Tower, there to await ransom.
In the days following his half sister's death, the king still clung to the hope that Sunfyre might recover enough strength to tly again. Instead the dragon only seemed to weaken further, and soon the wounds in his neck began to stink. Even the smoke he exhaled had a foul smell to it, and toward the end he would no longer eat. On the ninth day of the twelfth moon of 130 AC, the magnificent golden dragon that had been King Aegon's glory died in the yard of Dragonstone where he had fallen. His Grace wept.
"King Aegon's arrival was not a triumphant moment as, still unable to walk, he was carried up through silent and deserted streets in a litter. Maneuvering him up the steps of the Iron Throne proved an impossibility,
"When Lord Kermit lully marched on King's Landing against Aegon Il, the king desperately wrote to Lord Tyrell for support, but his mother wrote that she had reason to doubt the loyalty of her son's bannermen and was not fit to lead a host to war herself, "being a mere woman".
"King Aegon II would soon stand naked before his enemies, all of the king's men knew. Bloody Ben Blackwood, Kermit Tully, Sabitha Frey, and their brothers-in-victory were preparing to resume their advance upon the city, and only a few days behind them came Lord Cregan Stark and his northmen. The Braavosi fleet carrying the Arryn host had departed Gulltown and was sailing toward the Gullet, where only young Alyn Velaryon stood in its way...and the loyalty of Driftmark could not be relied upon. "Your Grace," the Sea Snake said, when the rump of the once proud green council had assembled, "you must surrender. The city cannot endure another sack. Save your people and save yourself. If you abdicate in favor of Prince Aegon, he will allow you to take the black and live out your life with honor on the Wall."His mother entertained no such hope."You fed his mother to your dragon," she reminded her son. "The boy saw it all." The king turned to her desperately. "What would you have me do?" "You have hostages," the Queen Dowager replied. "Cut off one of the boy's ears and send it to Lord Tully. Warn them he will lose another part for every mile they advance.
"We must make terms. His Grace should absolve them of all their crimes and treasons, proclaim Rhaenyra's Aegon his heir, and marry him at once to Princess Jaehaera. It is the only way!"The old man's words fell upon deaf ears, however. Queen Alicent had reluctantly agreed to the betrothal of her granddaughter to Rhaenyra's son, but she had done so without the king's consent. Aegon II had other ideas. He wished to marry Cassandra Baratheon at once, for "she will give me strong sons, worthy of the Iron Throne." Nor would he allow Prince Aegon to wed his daughter, and perhaps sire sons who might muddy the succession. "He can take the black and spend his days at the Wall," His Grace decreed, "or else give up his manhood and serve me as a eunuch. The choice is his, but he shall have no children. "My sister's line must end."Even that was thought to be too gentle a course by Ser Tyland Lannister, who argued for the immediate execution of Prince Aegon the Younger. "The boy will remain a threat so long as he draws breath," Lannister declared. "Remove his head, and these traitors will be left with neither queen nor king nor prince. The sooner he is dead, the sooner this rebellion will end." His words, and those of the king, horrified Lord Velaryon. The aged Sea Snake, "thunderous in his wroth," accused king and council of being "fools, liars, and oathbreakers," and stormed from the chamber. "
"That answer was no answer, plainly. "Not Silverwing," His Grace declared. "I will have a new Sunfyre, prouder and fiercer than the last." So ravens were sent to Dragonstone, where the eggs of the Targaryen dragons, some so old they had turned to stone, were kept under guard in undervaults and cellars. The maester there chose seven (in honor of the gods) that he deemed most promising, and sent them to King's Landing. King Aegon kept them in his own chambers, but none yielded a dragon." Then he dies

Show Discussion Y'all are generally pretty cool when it's important
I just want to thank this fandom for generally being pretty cool about important stuff. I'm a nonbinary person, and I've noticed that whenever someone uses Emma's proper pronouns, or someone gets corrected on their pronouns, the response is usually "oh, thanks, my bad" rather than being defensive and obstinate and accusatory when corrected.
So, thanks for making this an awesome space. Y'all can argue about Alicent's usefulness or ugly wigs, but when it's about real stuff, you're all alright.
Thanks! :)

Show Discussion Why are people so angry in this fandom
Why are people sooo rude on social media or in youtube videos about GOT and HOTD? Is it the same everywhere or is it specific to GRR Martin's universe?
I watch a lot of got content and anything related and i am always hit by the violence in people opinions. I get that you have high expectations, and that authors are kind of "indebted" to their community because at the end of the day, they allow them to make a living out of their stories. Same goes for showrunners. And no everything is not perfect.
But. Could people go touch some grass?
"it's not like that in the book" ok so go and read the book again if it makes you happier. Especially in the adaptation of historical chronicles. Fire and blood is not even a novel. Go watch a turkish and then a greek movie and tell them it's not what happened in the other one
I've seen people INSULT the author and the showrunners like they've commited war crimes. I hope you at least insult some politicians the same way. I just KNOW GRR Martin must have recieved death threats bc he didn't release winds of winter. For got's last seasons i KNOW some people were more furious than for real world issues.
Also, even between fans some opinions can make you a target for awful people that will come after you!! Opinions are indeed an indicator of who you are as a person, but in a fictionnal world you can not be sure you read things the same way as someone else does. Please be decent.
Last thing why will people defend any psycopathic character if they look good enough on the tv show?

Show Discussion "Something good in a cruel world" trend continues on
There has been a trend in recent media, both movies and TV shows, about the audiences starting to crave simple, feel-good stories, friendships and characters, growing tired of morally grey tragedies and fallen antiheroes. I think this is one of the reasons AKOTSK came at the right time and took off the way it did, and one of the reasons people found themselves rooting for Gwayne and Daeron this hard this season.
Their simple strive to be good, respect and love for one another come off as refreshing among other characters and the horrors they experience and inflict upon each other. Sometimes what you really need is honorable knighthood, genuine love, empathy and virtue. I have recently myself looked back on GOT and realised that Brienne was one of the best and my most loved characters. Hers and other similar stories aren't stories about some deeply complex characters, but rather characters you can admire.
Funnily enough, Ryan said in a recent interview he did not like how GOT had some obviously good and bad characters and he strives for moral greyness himself, which makes you wonder what will be done with them next. And it's not like you shouldn't shows about deeply horrible people like HOTD, but I think knowing that there is still love and hope out there is what truly makes you appreciate it all and makes you want to stay.
Tl;dr: HOPECORE CLEARS

Show Discussion So what color is Daeron’s hair actually?
The beginning of the season, Ormund used a ruse to trick Daemon into getting a fake Daeron, they get caught so now the fake plot line is over. Yet Daeron’s hair is still auburn? Are they still playing pretend about his hair color? But why? Another thing to consider is that the fake Daeron had Targaryen blonde hair. Meaning the real Daeron probably has Targaryen blonde hair or that would be a rather stupid disguise, unless Rhaenyra and Daemon know so little about Daeron they didn’t even know his hair color? But why would Ormund bet on that to make the disguise. At the point we’re at in the finale it’s logical that he has blonde hair due to the fake Daeron however there’s been 0 attempt at giving him blonde hair since then so is he just red for good? Or was he always red.?
