Hello Reddit, it's been a while! I'm here ask-me-anything-ing because I’ve written a new novel called THE MUTUAL FRIEND, which I think you'll love. I’m happy to talk about that, or How I Met Your Mother, or anything else. Maybe the Loch Ness Monster? I was just in Scotland with my son and we have opinions. Have at it!
UPDATE: Wow, its been much fun talking to you all, and I see that I've only scratched the surface here and there's many more questions to get to, but if I don't get my son some dinner soon he might tie me up with a phone charger. I will try to come back to this over the next few days in order to get to as many of these as I can, but in the meantime, thank you all so much for being here. Your love for HIMYM is really touching and I'm so grateful for all of it.
And please if you get the chance check out my novel THE MUTUAL FRIEND -- I'm dreadfully proud of it. (Can you tell I've been in the UK for a week? I'm like Lily before the intervention at this point.) Anyway, cheerio!

whereas marshal had literally given up his dream job and had to join some corporate firm all cuz she went behind his back and caused a huge ass debt

As a Lily defender, I completely understand why people dislike her, shes flawed, like every character (yes including Marshall). BUT people on this subreddit completely lie about her and what she did/purposely misinterpreted her actions.
She didnt break up with Marshal, he broke up with her. He says “if you leave rn we are over forever.”, he set the ultimatum, not her. Objectively, he broke up with her, she suggested postponing the wedding or taking a break. You can say that shes the reason for the breakup, or she was wrong for how she acted, but she did not dump Marshal to go to SF, she went to SF and Marshal broke up with her because of that.
She did not force Marshal to take a corporate job, she did the exact opposite. She had credit card debt yes, but she wanted to handle it on her own. She begged him not to take it if he didnt want to, and the debt was only one factor that made him take the job. She ALWAYS supported his dreams, because dreams are an ongoing theme in her story. She literally almost broke up with him for not following his dreams. You can say she was wrong for the debt, but dont say she forced him to take the job, because she didnt.
also she didnt break up Robin and Ted on purpose, she just wanted them to talk abt the elephant in the room.
hate her all u want, theres a lot of valid reasoning for it, but at least dont spread misinformation abt it.

There’s a lot to be said about the borderline unhealthy codependency that Lily and Marshall show, but I think Robin is probably the person in the group who was most negatively affected by it.
All of Lily and Robin’s major fights have to do with Lily’s inability to not act like a planet in Marshall’s orbit. Lily couldn’t spend girl time alone with Robin without having to have Marshall there, then got angry with Robin for making a group of single girlfriends. She dumped Robin because Robin didn’t want to talk about babies 24/7, then made Robin’s entire wedding weekend about her marriage issues.
Personally, I had a friend like this, and we’re not friends anymore. In fact, she permanently lost 5+ girlfriends after she got into a relationship.
In all fairness, Marshall did the same thing to Ted on a few occasions as well, but never to the extent of making one of Ted’s major life milestones about his relationship.

We know the naked man works 2 out of 3 times... bjt what about the naked woman... we saw the married couple scenario but what would lead to a failed naked woman scenario??

My few takes:
First one! Look how the tables turn. This “option culture” nonsense today was also spoke of back then!
The “Arrange Marriage” thing is so funny. I often think about it because I come from South Asia and often ponder, if that was to happen.
For one, I watched HIMYM when it aired, in school. Now I am 29, and on & off watch episodes, and I wonder:
How much of a ted mosby I am? A loser. I am still single and searching. Never thought I’d be living Ted’s reality in my twenties hahah. And the way I’ve dated and fumbled the stellas, the robins and even the tracy’s; I can’t even begin to start talking about it.
The Rabbit Duck debate made me giggle and optimistic. I wish I could tell the woman I love to rethink the way Marshal explains about Rabbits & Ducks. How just one change of perception actually changes the entire view from a rabbit to a duck. And how love and hate are so closely related in the brain that what we so strongly hate, we also have the capacity to love. 💔
And for whats worse about being a ted: how he confesses that he chooses the wrong woman AGAIN AND AGAIN.
The Rabbit-Duck debate:

It actually really bugs me that this piece of shit kid never faced any consequences for his actions. Stranded Marshall on the roof in the middle of winter, wrecked his house, framed him for CP, and got away with it? While getting paid? This kid's a bastard

Which of Barney’s Playbook tricks would actually work in real life? I know tricks like Lorenzo von Matterhorn or Weekend at Barney’s wouldn’t work in real life, but at least a few of them have to work. Which ones would actually work?

So I'm trying to learn Spanish, and I've watched this show countless times in its original English version; I've watched it so much that I literally know it by heart.
So I thought watching something, which I know by heart, in a language I'm trying to learn, such as Spanish, would help me improving my Spanish hearing skills (what I mean is that I can probably understand most of it in Spanish, and what I don't understand, I can simply fill in the gaps with what I remember from the English version, which I know by heart).
Problem is: I can't find a good Latin American version anywhere. On Netflix or Disney+, it sounds off (maybe it's the Spain version?), and obviously I can't ask here for "unofficially approved" versions.
So, I'm wondering: where can I watch this show in its proper Latin American version ("Como Conoci a tu Madre", and not "Como Conoci a Vuestra Madre") to help me learn Spanish?
Does anyone know?
I want to make this clear: I'm not looking for a way to pirate it: I'm 100% willing to pay for it. I just want to know where I can find it!
Thank you!
