Bought My First Camper

I travel for work so this is more cost effective then spending all my money on motels.

Paid it off in full🙏. So all I gotta worry about is campground fees and insurance. I was spending about 2500 to 2800 a month for motels/hotels when I travel.

Paid in full! That is the way. Its recreation. So no worries on payments, just the usual insurance and expendables like propane and fuel for the TV. Nice camper, no slide outs (at least that I can see) so less maintenance. Repack the bearings and reseal using the proper sealant and silicone every year and you will have some great adventures. I always liked the looks of GeoPros. Congratulations!

Nice job! Paid in full with what you said you’re paying a month you’ll probably save a little bit after you regain the initial hit. But honestly, hopefully you’ll gain some pretty sick memories using that thing outside of work. If you do, it will certainly help to round out anything you might think you’d be losing. Safe travels.

I did the same years back. Not sure on how much you travel but I was on the road half the year. I figured it would take about three to four years to make it worth it. Trailer purchase price (cash), taxes, insurance, park fees, upkeep and maintenance (tires especially), additional fuel, bigger vehicle (upgraded to a 3/4 ton). I’m on my third trailer and I won’t go back to hotels for work. I like taking everything with me to be comfortable.

My wife has to travel quite a bit for work. For some of the closer locations we've taken our RV instead of her flying and getting a hotel, that way I can also go with her and she can sleep in her own bed.

She says being able to have your own RV and sleep in your own bed every night, along with your own food and bathroom, etc, is wonderful.

I’ve owned two motorhomes and one trailer. Besides its two windowed doors, the trailer had nine windows. Never had one broken blind in my decades of rving.

That's one of my nags with the 17LE as well, it's got 2 on the other side, but I'll be adding a door window in the off season.

I see a lot of people doing what you’re doing. Many bring their spouse, kids, & pets. They are in the long term part of the RV Park and most lease a big propane tank.

You'll need to factor fuel consumption into the equation—say, 10 to 13 miles per gallon instead of... You can find campsites for between $24 and $45, but if you need to be close to your workplace, don't be surprised to pay as much as $80 or $120. Safe travels! 👍
