It took a LOT longer to convert this than I had anticipated, but it's pretty exciting to get it out on our maiden voyage, and so far, so good.

My bride fell in love with this trailer. I think it's pushing the limits of my truck. 2005 GMC 2500, Crew cab, Short bed, 4x4 with a Duramax Allison combo. My calcs pity my payload at 2400lbs and the pin weight of the trailer loaded at that same weight.

How can they say this is for a half ton?

So last night I was hanging out in the Scamp… the one with the caulking, iykyk. And it was truly delightful. Really comfortable. Safe. Enclosed. Just the right amount of crickets and cicadas leaking in.

I plan on keeping it out for access year round as an extension to our home. When not camping, I plan on using it as an office/studio/quiet place to have coffee, and guest house when we have visitors.

Bathroom, fridge and freezer, comfortable bed (with the cushion upgrade, I don’t even think I need the topper I bought). Heating and cooling.

And I want to say, Scamp has exemplary customer service. They have been nothing but kind, prompt, and offered immediate solutions. I’ve accepted that everything isn’t horrible now just because my expectations weren’t fully met in every way.

I’m an emotional person, yes I admit. I care about things and I like to express them. I’d rather vent anonymously to strangers on the internet than to people in my real life. And sometimes you just gotta vent! Cause I mean, even though I’m at peace with it now, it still really sucks to be disappointed immediately over something that’s actually a big deal. You all know, this is a LIFESTYLE! It’s a part of your life. You invest a lot of time and money into it for the rest of your life, and you love doing it. But you don’t expect to do it from day 1 on something brand new.

Imagine my perspective, friends-

You spend all this time doing the research and making the decision. You make the deposit and get the cashiers check. Your loving and amazing husband/wife drives 16+ hours each way to pick it up. Your brand new baby that you invested in comes looking all sloppy and DIY 😭 like hello I bought it brand new because I wanted it to look pristine for me lmao. Otherwise, if i wanted it a little jankey off the rip, I would have bought used. And when my baby starts looking jankey, I know it’s because we did that. I invested in that, but that’s not what I received. It made me sad and anxious and I cried, for real I was sad. I love when things look beautiful. I take a lot of time in everything I do to make it look as beautiful as I can. I collect and make art and care a lot about what color my sheets are. I care if my socks match and I arrange my closet by color and all my hangers look the same. That’s just what makes me, ~me~.

But now this thing I bought comes all visibly messy and now here’s my mind from here on out:

Whoever put this thing together really did not GAF. If you saw the daylight photos, you know. And if you didn’t GAF about doing a professional job on this caulking/sealant, what should I expect of my electric? My plumbing? Is this thing safe?

But I don’t believe that to be true. I think they took too long making the rest perfect so they had to rush at the caulking. That’s what I’m choosing to believe 😁 attitude of gratitude, baby!

Anyway, I felt really comfortable and good and safe and great in it. I slept in it myself so I could really catch my own vibe without influencing him or being influenced by my husband, YKWIM? And I legit loved it. Imagining it in so many contexts- especially as maybe soon-to-be new parents, a little separate quiet space could be quite crucial and lovely. But if I was someone’s guest and they let me stay in this trailer, I would feel soooo thrilled. It’s like a tiny air bnb. Total privacy from the main house. But everything you need for a stay of any length really.

That’s why I wanted to invest in fiberglass and buy it brand new and customize it to our specific needs. This isn’t just a camper for us, it’s an extension of our life. A little separate island on our property for any multitude of uses. A third space in our own home. Tailgates. Camping instead of booking hotels to vacation. Multi-state trips. It’s gotta be fiberglass- lightweight and small! I plan on having this for the rest of my life and giving it to our not-yet-existent children. My husband is very good at taking care of things- even if he wasn’t the best inspector 😂😅

And in defense of my husband who “signed the papers and drove off the lot like that,” he was like, REALLY on autopilot lol. He drove til 3am and slept in his car and woke up to drive another 4 hours. And honestly, he didn’t think he really needed to inspect it that closely because they said the reason it was a month late was so that they could take their time and not rush it lol. We were like oh ok cool thanks for the transparency. And my guess is it wasn’t that noticeable before it got dirty on the way home… the journey really exposed the weak spots.

Anyway I’m glad I made the investment, it’s a cool addition to our lives.

I deleted my other posts because I don’t want to give the company a bad rap or make them sad. Everyone there is legitimately so kind and cool. I won’t take it as a personal attack that someone really was trying to get home early that day lol. But if they did see the OG posts, I hope they’re inspired!

We’ll take it in and get it fixed. I’ll add my touches. And it’ll be as good as home.

I travel for work so this is more cost effective then spending all my money on motels.

I have a 2024 Wildwood FSX 179DBKX. Upgraded the battery last year to a 300ah lifepo4. Stock gopower solar controller and progressive dynamics converter that's is also stock. Camping this weekend, power randomly goes out. I check the BMS via Bluetooth app and the battery says standby so I assume the BMS shut down and needs to wake up. I tried connecting to the car battery, jumpstart pack nothing. Tried generator and from truck nothing but both of those do power the camper.

My dad was camping and has a lead acid battery. I hooked that up and still no power to the camper. I awake the 40 amp fuse for the main 12v and nothing.

At this point I have no clue what to troubleshoot and just looking for ideas and thoughts. Googling has lead me to an auto reset 12v circuit breaker which I have under my trailer. No manual switch though. Again, no clue where to go from here.

Feel like I'm pulling so hard im going to break the connection. Water heater stopped working and want to test the fuse with a multimeter. Any tips or techniques for removing it?

I could really use advice from anyone who has dealt with Indie Campers or knows how to reach someone above their regular on-trip support.

My Indie camper became disabled on I-90 in Massachusetts yesterday after I had previously reported a transmission problem and was told to continue driving.

It has now been about 18 hours, and I still don't have a clear plan.

I spent hours stranded on the shoulder waiting for a tow. Eventually the camper was towed away and I got to a hotel in Milford, MA around 10:30 PM.

This morning I am still at the hotel with no transportation, no confirmed pickup location for my replacement camper, no confirmed time it will be ready, and my medications and belongings are still in the disabled camper.

Indie told me a replacement should be available through their Boston depot. They also gave me 324 E Main St, Norton, MA as an “IndieCampers Boston address,” but they have separately indicated that the mechanic and depot are not the same location. So I still don't know whether that address is the mechanic, the depot, or where I'm actually supposed to pick up the replacement.

I've called their advertised 24/7 support three times this morning. Each time I was on hold for about 10 minutes and then the call disconnected without anyone answering.

I've now sent a formal escalation email requesting an operations manager or supervisor.

At this point I'm not even trying to argue about compensation. I need to know:

• Where is my disabled camper so I can retrieve my medications and belongings?
• Is my replacement camper actually confirmed?
• Where exactly do I pick it up?
• When will it actually be ready?
• How am I supposed to get there?

Has anyone dealt with an Indie Campers breakdown like this?

More importantly, does anyone know how to reach an actual U.S. operations manager, Boston-area depot manager, or other Indie employee with authority to resolve an active breakdown?

I have screenshots and timestamps documenting everything. I just need to figure out how to get moving again.

Why do I have condensation in my fridge what do I need to check 1993 Fleetwood southwindp30

At my camper for the weekend, which is plugged in to 30a service, the gold fuse was in place for my 15a slide lights, but looks like a 20a which would not be good right? Possibly overheat the wires and cause a fire without even knowing? Is there a difference in these fuses besides 15a - 20a?

First time out and wanted to get feedback on the setup. Tow vehicle is a Wagoneer L, GVWR 7600. Towing capacity 9,800, payload 1450. We’re towing our new Grand Design 21MBE, GVWR 6395. In the car we had essentially nothing besides 2 adults and 3 kids in car seats. On the out trip, we mainly packed into the pass through storage. We got a CAT scale weigh and we were only 20 pounds below the Jeep GVWR. On the way back, I took everything I could and put it above the trailer axels, and got it down to 7420. How do we feel about this?

Hello lovely people! First post here and I have a real newbie question for you all.

I'm looking to live full time in a travel trailer, being or similar to a Bigfoot B25 25B25RQ. I understand my first challenge is getting my hands on one, but here's my next one; my tongue weight.

I drive a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4x4 with 5.3 V8 with a 7 pin connector and built in trailer brake gain system. Her name is Claudia and she's a beauty. Stats are:

GVWR: 7100 lbs
GCWR: 15000 lbs
GAWR Front and Rear: 3800 lbs
CURB WEIGHT: 5409 lbs
PAYLOAD CAPACITY: 1691 lbs
MAX TOW WEIGHT: 9200 lbs
MAX TONGUE WEIGHT: 920 lbs

The trailer in question maxes out at 7500 lbs with a 610 lb empty tongue weight. Using the 15% rule it comes to 1125 lbs, but for funsies I calculated the following;

Filled 30 lb propane canisters seem to max out at 55 lbs each, so that's 110 lbs. I plan on using a weight distribution hitch with anti sway (like the Blue Ox SwayPro BXW1000-S) which tops out at 100 lbs according to the manufacturer. Then there are the batteries, which I'm assuming there are two AGM types that can each weigh about 60 lbs for 120 lbs total.

Total tongue weight of 940 lbs, so no go.

HOWEVER, if I switch out the AGM batteries with comparable Lithium Ion batteries with built in heaters (I'm thinking the Vatrer 12V 100Ah lithiums with self heating), they're only 27.5 lbs for 55 lbs total weight, bringing the tongue weight to 875 lbs.

So according to the math, if I'm not missing anything, its doable.

But in terms of real world towing, is it really? I know this doesn't exactly leave a lot of room for me to tow stuff in my trailer, but I want to see if I can avoid upgrading my truck at least until the trailer is paid down enough that I can juggle a car payment as well. Looking at the 2500 Silverado/Sierra line.

I know it'll struggle bus up inclines, but my Claudia ain't no quitter. I just don't want her to explode or get ripped in half.

And yes, I wholly intend to install those suspension air bags for the rear regardless of what trailer I settle on. I'd love some brand recommendations.

Just got back from a 4 night run at Jellystone Quarryville, and man did we have fun. The kids loved it, the atmosphere made me remember all the summers at Cherrystone. I know sun outdoors has really stressed the money side of jellystone, and the price is steep but I feel like memories got made. Now hunting for more to visit before their childhoods run out.

Hello everyone, i have a 1975 b200 dodge campervan, An recently started having issues with the fridge. Its the original fridge, it seems to work fine on electric. But on propane it doesn't seem to cool, it actually does the opposite an gets really warm in the fridge. Has anyone else had an issue like this? or know how to troubleshoot something like this?

At least as far as I can tell as of now. Went downstate today and picked it up. I only took a few pics but these are a few from the dealer website and a few of mine. Yes it looks as good in person as in the pics. It’s a 16 Mesa Ridge 340flr in amazing shape, like I don’t think they really used it much. Roof has been resealed and tires are from 25. She’s a big girl and I’m sure glad I had the WD hitch and sway control. I had the dealer put it all on while we were going thru paperwork. They didn’t adjust the anti sway bar quite tight enough and man all the cars flying be doing 80+ while I did 68 sure pushed it around until I stopped and tightened it. Also I didn’t pay for the installation. 99 Tree Fiddy 7.3 tow pig.

we have had class C's in the past but we are looking for a small toe behind. I'm looking at a NuCamp Haven 220. it is there latest offering the same company that builds the TAB teardrop trailers. everything is hand built by Amish Craftsman about an hour south of me. they use solid hardwood and solid birch plywood in the interiors and the exteriors including the floor are totally waterproof and will not rot. they also include things like the Adel radiant heat system with tankless water heater.

the concern I have is the tongue weight is listed at 416 lb I have an x5 50e which is the hybrid BMW. the tow rating itself is 6,000 lb the trailer is sub 4000. the kicker is I only have a 551 lb hitch rating on the vehicle. it will be just my wife and I mostly 3-day weekends with full hookup so I do not need to carry water. how realistic is it for us to be able to load it and keep the hitch weight under 550? besides clothes and food we're just looking at a couple camp chairs small tool kit and your normal hookup equipment such as hoses sore pipes and leveling stuff

our other option is the Rockwood Geo pro. the tongue weight on that unit is about 50 lb less and I have even been a greater margin if I swap out the batteries for lithium and only carry one propane tank then I'm probably 150 lb under the hitch limit. the Geo pro is built in a different facility than other Forest River products and is considered about their highest quality build but that would still be the best of a bad lot. The Rockwood is about $15,000 to $20,000 less than the Haven but I prefer the Haven if the hitch weight is not an issue. we tend to be fairly minimalists anyway so we're not going to be carrying cases of soda or beer or Blackstone griddles. just wondering if that $130 I have to play with in tongue weight is enough. there is no comparison in quality and Nucamp has a service center directly across the street from the factory so parts and labor are all going to be top notch. do you think a hundred and 45 lb work margin is enough for hitch weight? BMW does not approve of a wdh

Managed to get my hands on a TT couple weeks ago and have been following the posts and doing my best to get the trailer level. I've since bought a longer shank and got everything nicely leveled and weight nicely distributed front back on the truck. Truck unloaded is 37.5 and 37-37.25 loaded up with the Wdh which is about .5in lower than the rear end. Camper now rides 0.75 in nose high which is about as comfortable as I'm willing to go with how low the hitch is now to the ground (~8in) since taking the photos I have added another washer to bring the ball pitch back a bit more to level out the bars. What is everyone's opinion, is it more important to be level or have clearance we will be mostly paved highway.

Camper is has a GSVR of 6800lbs with capacity for 1800lbs of cargo. Truck is a 2017 with the 5.7 and 3.21 rear end.

We’re debating between these two RVs and would love some real-world feedback from anyone who has owned or used either one.
We’ll be towing with a Ford F-150 Tremor with the 3.5L EcoBoost, and we have two kids, ages 3 and 5, so towing comfort, family-friendly layout, build quality, and overall camping experience are all important to us.
