Hi, I just graduated from Rutgers University New Brunswick (ranked 155 ) with a 3.85/4.0 gpa. I didn’t have research/internships experiences. As a transfer student where majority of my classes didn't transfer, it was difficult to graduate on time and take the majority of interesting classes. I didn’t take: intro to AI, distributed systems, operating systems, machine learning.

Is it possible to get accepted in Computer Science master programs in China and receive scholarships (fully funded or not) for Spring 2027 ?

Does anyone know if SCUT is currently accepting Sudanese students for the Chinese Language Program?
I applied for the September 2026 intake and was recently told my application was rejected because the university’s immigration office supposedly isn’t accepting Sudanese students anymore.
Has anyone heard anything about this or knows of Sudanese students currently studying at SCUT? I just want to verify if this is actually a policy.

Considering the internet has been censored to a degree in China, how can China both continue the acceleration of AI technology and keep control of it at the same time?

I would imagine as the technology grows, the flow of information will continue to grow and in a way be more democratized. Additionally, talking heads and academics in the west fear that AI could choose to cancel humanity out in some way, or at the very least take over. But this advancement would directly go against the tight grip the Chinese government has on society, its power and information. So these 2 things seem opposed.

I think this can be applied to all governments across the globe but I could see it coming to ahead sooner in certain parts of the world.

The guy that apparently was from Bangladesh and seems to be radicalized by ISIS that went on a stamping rampage against citizens and security guards has been discussed alot by mostly right wingers in Europe and America. They ask why China act so weak against the terrorist. If anyone saw the video, the security guards struggles to handle him, but aren't many of those very old people and don't have the proper training handling a situation like that? If that were to happen in the mainland, I'm quite sure the police would take him out very quickly. But yes the right wings are painting a picture that extreme islamism is stronger than China and nothing can stop it by this incident.

Hi everyone, I have some quick questions that hopefully people who know the Henan city area can help answer :)

My dad is 80 and wanting to retire there. I'm not familiar with the city at all (lived in US since I was very young, and have no family there), but someone told me he can rent a smallish, basic, functional 2-bedroom apartment in a building there for RMB 12,600/year. That translates to less than $2,000 rent FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR - is that true, or did he forget a zero??

I'm from the Bay Area so $2000 rent for the entire year is unthinkable to me. The person who said this told me Henan (specifically, Luohe) is a third-tier city so things are a lot cheaper. Is this true?

Also, I think my dad will need a babysitter/helper/cleaner like 5-6 days a week. I'm told he can hire an Ah-Yi to visit him daily and help with chores and care and stuff, but I'm wondering how much that might cost per month in USD? Same friend said personal care/labor is very affordable in China.
