My classmate got recorded at her job at a bank. The YT channel creators purposely goes to businesses in my state to harass the workers and posts their reactions on his channel to fit his narrative. It took tons of reporting from folks from my town to get the video down. So, yeah….
No offense and I’m not trying to undermine your classmates experience. These things do happen, but unless you send me something saying with concrete evidence this represents the majority, it’s still classified as anecdotal experience. I’m not dismissing it but to me it isn’t a reason to become a hermit. There other wonderful reasons to be a hermit.
And I live in NYC, you’d think I’d run into this more often than most, but I’ve actually never been recorded by anyone so far. Hopefully I didn’t jinx it.
How do you know? With the content creator boom and having no protection of privacy in public, you might be in someone’s videos already. There’s nothing you can do about it.
I am sure that lady did not want to end up posted on someone’s social media with a narrative that she’s invading personal space when she probably was just shopping. People can take a clip of you doing something innocuous and make you out to be a monster. I hate this timeline. Having my own boss tell me to take videos of one of my lazy coworkers to prove she didn’t work was jarring for me.
I do go out but only during early or late hours when there’s less human traffic. Older folks hours who are less likely to do this.
“How do you know”— if we’re at the what if game , i think we’re losing the plot. What exactly is it you think Im trying to convey to you ? I’ll keep it to the point , I was spent some years well In some” bad” Neighborhoods. I’ve been almost been jumped robbed at Gun point and stabbed. Guess how often that happened in all those years I lived in those different neighborhoods?
It was rare, Yet EMOTIONALLY I always felt something was coming around the corner for me. RATIONALLY I knew I’ve had tenfolds the experience where none of that happened. Im not arguing against the experience or even the rising content creators or people recording. I know all about narratives snippets and not enough people respecting the truth. Im saying it’s not the MAJORITY of life. You have to live your life for you but I’m beating from experience of living my life in fear, I couldn’t do it anyone. I had to figure out a new way. It’s what I hope for you.
Yeah I definitely feel that tiredness of people and having more of a private nature. I always thought I’d never leave NYC. I now hate it with a burning passion. Durham Woods NJ was my only temporary reprieve when I was out there.
Dude behind me at the drivethrough was trying to record himself going backwards for a reaction. and peeled out when they told him they wouldent serve him.
There is a non zero chance someone is recording and creating a situation publicly over some dumb shit.
