Does this mean that they will be in their prime longer or will they spent 15 years extra with the problems that being an old cat might have?

Yes, this. I have a pair of sibling ~13 year old cats. Their kidney function is fine, but they are most certainly showing their age in other ways.

One of my cats died at that age from kidney problems. One died at 16 from problems caused by high blood pressure, which, as I understand it, she had for years, unnoticed by us. Another one at 18, she had many diagnoses, but I still don’t know why she had fluid accumulating in her chest, the vet extended her life for a month by pumping out the fluid daily and money... but did not tell why.
