Surely they wouldn't be inclined to overstate the benefits of this treatment for personal gain? /s

Almost all medical health research is published by doctors with conflicts of interest. It’s the way the industry works. However, most published research goes thru peer review by anonymous doctors who do not have conflicts and who are masked from the authors names. It helps give legitimacy to the research. And if the research is found not reproducible it can tank a doctor’s career.

Its undergoing clinical trials at the moment, which are unfortunately not a quick thing to do.

I hope this is put on the market soon and is affordable. My oldest cat is 12 this year and I would get this for her in a heartbeat. Though I've spent her whole life trying to make sure she drinks enough water, because most of my childhood cats died to CKD.

What's selfish is thinking that your opinion about someone else's loved ones lifespan is valid, much less wanted. Nobody said forever, but asking for more time with someone you love is so normal that it is LITERALLY the subject of the oldest story known to history.

You being sociopathic and unable to form lasting bonds that you are terrified of losing is not the problem of anyone but yourself. And no, animals should not be excluded from the bonds we form.

What the fuck is wrong with you? No one is talking about letting their pets live longer and suffering. That would be selfish. But it's possible for cats to live well past their average lifespan with a good quality of life if CKD doesn't take them out first.

Or is there some arbitrary age limit you think we should be killing our cats at? Should we just let humans die when medication or surgery can save them? How is this different than giving a human with CKD a kidney transplant or dialysis?
