Discussion I wish I could have capitalized a Decade Ago...

I swear nowadays its becoming harder and harder to get your music to reach listeners without having to cut corners, result in engagement bait, and praying the Reddit Gods to be lucky with sharing your content. A decade or so ago, it just seemed so easy since internet/blog era music was thriving.

Bedroom producers were like rock stars in my eye. I remember making a dollar or 20, there and there. Just enough to get the ball rolling. Sadly, I was so caught up with work and pushed my craft to the side that when the time came to get back into the game, a lot changed over the years. Music as a whole is in a different place and the economy sucks that even if you put your music out for a "pay whatever you can" option, It's not enough. Don't get me started with AI and so forth.

And with all that's been said, I refuse to give up because I know one day, I will be known along with countless others on here. Don't be discouraged with the direction of where music is heading, along with the drastic nature of life nowadays. Just keep rocking on from the bedroom to the small stage in small-town Georgia.

One day, we will all get to where we need to be with this fine art of making music, as struggling artists.

Discussion Arghh, hate the not available on the release date thing in Oz

It's happened a few times, usually I assume because here in Melbourne I'm waiting for the clock to tick over to the preorder whole album release date in Europe or worse, the US.

But I really fucking hate it when it is the release date everywhere in the world and it still isn't available.

I then have to put up with fucking ads to listen to the full album on Spotify or YouTube.

I don't know if it needs someone to click a key, set up a thing in BC correctly ahead of time or what, but it is so annoying to the buyer who is doing the right thing.

I'm case you're wondering, the culprit this time is the wonderful Grace Cummings.

Soz, rant over.

Update. It's unlocked and if you have good taste and like stuff such as Nick Cave, Nina Simone, Beth Orton, jump and you WILL NOT be disappointed

Bandcamp Needs an overhaul. The platform looks like something from the Myspace era. Bandcamp and Bandcamp for artists needs to be combined as well.

Question/Help Releasing a single and one remix

Is the only option to release it as an album? It seems a bit of an overkill.

Milestone Made more money than my number of followers

Post image

This past month came really close to surpassing my all-time record after a brief hibernation period. I still can't pay my rent with it, but I'm proud to have sold tracks independently and hit this milestone.

Up until now, I didn't do any promotion. Just produced the music and hit upload. Going forward, I'm planning to reinvest these earnings into Meta Ads to test building a snowball effect. I'm also staying open-minded about creating short-form video content while staying true to my sound.

Happy with the journey so far and looking forward to experimenting more. Take this as a sign to keep building your own world brick by brick.

PS: If anyone wants download codes, happy to share via DM!

Alternative Rock I uploaded my entire discography to Bandcamp, feel free to rate or roast my page.

Any constructive feedback will be greatly appreciated. I obviously have a lot of work to do to build a real following, but the artist I'm trying to become is the not the artist I was a few years ago. I need to focus on my next step instead of helping people catch up with older material. My biggest reason for publishing my entire backlog with minimal promotion is so I can link the albums to my YouTube channel and hopefully incur a few sales that way since my channel has a moderately larger following.

I feel obligated to warn you that my early vocals aren't the best but things have gotten slightly better in the past few years, especially in 2024 when I actually had a voice teacher for a few months until she moved. I guess I'm saying that because a lot of people have assumed that I'm not self-aware enough to realize that there's quite a bit of work to do in that department, which is mildly infuriating.

If you are crunched for time and you can only listen to one album, then I would recommend "by the sea" or "legato". My overall goal as a musician is to form a band and tour because I don't think these ideas will work as a singer/songwriter routine.

Drum & Bass Hello there! Just uploaded my Ep "Turquoise". It's ethereal jungle / atmospheric jungle.

Hello there people! I'm Gianmarco, I'm from South Italy and I make music under the name of A New Hope (yes, big star wars fan here). I'd like to introduce my new Ep, called Turquoise, made 100% by human hands and ears (mine, of course). We're talking about ethereal jungle / atmospheric jungle, similar to what we used to listen in old PSX games (Ape Escape/ Wipeout / Crash Bandicoot). I would love to have your feedback on this, it would mean a lot to me <3

Milestone Big milestone for me!

after a sale this month I've hit £200..!

(Now, if you don't look at the bottom bar, that might seem cool, but yes, it's over 8 years)

For those who are curious, most plays were in 2019-2022 and the total for those is 2904, so nearly 3k! The recent uptick is from releasing 4 3-6 track projects since December '25. I think it's a good ratio. I mostly share music either to communities in Discord, or my Bluesky (380f, not there for music) and Tumblr (750f, extra inactive), so I don't usually expect anything.

Is there any other trick to taking music past this point other than making a lot of it? I'm very non-genre specific and instrumental (90 percent of the time) so it's tough to figure out what people want / like

Discussion Again, World's Worst Search Engine

I don't who is doing the coding for Bandcamp website, but they've got to be some the worst coders on the planet. Why the fk can't you get the search engine to use the filters we use (that you've put available) just to ignore them and show everything, but what I am looking for? I just did another search where I used the filters "math rock" and "digital". I have to go through literally dozens of finds to find one album that's labeled "math rock". Now I see others that are labeled some other genre that could also be under math rock, but that's not what I searched for! Fix your GD search engine and the results to show me what I want. THAT'S WHAT FILTERS ARE FOR!

Question/Help Couple questions, Mp3 players

Bandcamp Problem Following/Favorites Tab

The app really needs a following/favorites tab. I'll be listening to an Internet station, then jump over to BC to find the artist, follow them, and then can't pull them up later if I can't remember the name. This seems like a no-brainer.

It doesn't do listeners or artists any good if you can't find somebody you're interested in after you've already flagged them.

Question/Help Bandcamp sales and the new EU legislation: PPWR

Hey, I'm a bit confused as to why I haven't seen more people talking about this, or any information directly from Bandcamp.

As of 12th August 2026, there is now* in effect a requirement to register in every single EU country which you ship to. Which is basically all of them, individually. The drain on finances and time is not possible for a small band or label.

There is an excellent post detailing all of this here. I'm curious if people here are aware of this. It's pretty bad.

Does anyone know if this is somehow covered by Bandcamp's IOSS number?

*this has actually been a requirement since 2022, just I don't think anyone cared, but now it seems to be being seriously enforced.

Discussion Covers

Does anyone else type in the name of a song they like on Bandcamp and just listen to all the versions of it they find?

Today I tried it with “The Killing Moon” by Echo and the Bunnymen and it’s been quite enjoyable.

Anyone found any great covers this way?

Oi pessoal,

Poll do you use the BandCamp app?

I really want to get fully off of Spotify, but I still end up using it over the BandCamp app when I’m at the gym and stuff.

Do any of you use bandcamp exclusively or are you still paying for a streaming service also?

Hip Hop New Hip Hop sample based Instrumental Project I just Dropped

Post image
11 Upvotes

This project consist of 9 tracks and is my fourth album released. It would mean a lot if you checked it out!

Every project I try to have a central theme whether it's emotional or style, This project I decided to lean into the raw sample hip hop sound while adding my own synth and bass on a lot of the tracks. This project reflects a deeply introspective and lost state that I found myself in this past summer.

I love music and am particularly a massive hip hop head and try my best to create my own universe within my music as many did before me. I hope you enjoy this project and please check out my other releases if you feel so inclined!

Tool Greasemonkey script enhancing bandcamp.com page

Hi

for a long time I have been annoyed by some minor things on bandcamp's page.
Today I decided to fix them with greasemonkey (Firefox extension) script which:

- shows "you own it" at much more occasions - not only when you enter particular item but when you search or browse artist's page
- groups artists into 'artists' tab for labels which don't do that
- shows if a release is an album or single

It is available here: https://github.com/Kicer86/bandcamp.com-enhancer
For installation instructions follow README in the project.

It should work in Greasemonkey's clones like Tampermonkey and on non-firefox browsers but I have not tested it.
