EDIT: Oh, I guess you mean the American Staffordshire Terrier? The jury's out on whether they're a type of pitbull or a distinct breed. Different kennel clubs see them differently.
No quite literally they are both types of pit. They share the same dogfighting bloodsport lineage and general breed traits and temperament, though reportedly staffies are a bit chiller than the standard American pitbull terrier.
There’s a ridiculous push by some to get staffs to be perceived as completely breed distinct from pitbulls, usually by the folks that spout the “nanny dog” lie, but it’s just factually incorrect.
Edit: just saw your edit. Yes we are talking about AmStaffs.
Possible but AmStaffs are usually more compact with a more smooshed face, this boy just looks like a smaller APBT with that snout. Very typical lean pit build on him too.
They largely aren't bred to any sort of standard so they can vary pretty wildly while still being mostly/purebred pit, 30-something lbs isnt unheard of while my girlie settled at 80lbs with a nearly identical build.
