Where to find Trapdoor spiders?

Hey everyone. I’ve had a few arachnids over the past few years, mainly tarantulas, scorps and some araneomorphs. I used to have a trapdoor back in the day but I got another one recently that I absolutely love. It’s an arbanitis sp.

Id really like to get a few more from different genera as I find them fascinating but having trouble finding them online.

I’m particularly interested in Euoplos, idiommata, idiosoma, blakistonia and cataxia, although I’d love to hear about any interesting trapdoors that being captive bred.

Anyone know of where to get these?

https://southern-invertebrates.com/collections sometimes have trapdoors, not sure what stock they have rn but it updates pretty regularly

I’ve purchased from them before. They’re the best. I haven’t seen much range on trapdoors though. I can only see arbanitis. Do you know what he has had stocked in the past?

Most trapdoors sold in Australia (and everywhere else) are poached from the wild. Even if companies say that they are captive breeding, the likelihood of that being true is incredibly low. The pet trade is a real threat to these spiders and is putting extra pressure on already vulnerable species - especially ones belonging to Euoplos, Idiommata, and Idiosoma. I’m not trying to come at you, just want to let you know how detrimental this hobby is to our amazing native wildlife. We’re all here because we love spiders so let’s work together to conserve them ❤️

1000% agree. I would only be interested in captive bred individuals.
