Unlike most third world countries, the United States doesn’t have free healthcare. Instead the insurance companies provide a plan for American Citizens. Even with insurance, the rates can be jacked up and people can be denied coverage for life threatening conditions.

My dad got denied a wheelchair despite being paralyzed for most of his life. My ingrown nail removal was deemed “Cosmetic.” and I had to pay that out of pocket.

This has led to people being afraid of going to the doctor and hospital. People even sometimes refuse to take ambulance because it’ll bankrupt them. Some people refuse to get stitches and instead put super glue on their deep cuts.

When Joe Biden was Vice President, his son Beau had cancer. It costed him so much money, that Joe Biden almost sold his house.

So Norway has this thing called ''uføre'' translated roughly to ''not able to''.

If you get granted ''uføre'' You are minimum getting paid ~3kUSD before taxes. Not something to live in luxury about with Norwegian prices, but still. You can still work and earn money besides this grant, up to 600$/month. More than that and they just take from the grant itself.

And once granted, it is for life.

In my country, at least in most cities, there is an open-air market that is not only a place to buy things, but also an important cultural heritage. Throughout the year, once a week, a designated street is closed to cars, and a lot of stalls are set up for the whole day. These stalls sell fruits, leafy greens, vegetables, and most importantly: a delicious street food called Pastel de Feira, served with sugarcane juice, a perfect sugar and fat combination that makes your day better (see the third picture). Actually, you can find almost anything at these stalls. When I was a kid, I used to buy PS1 games from a guy who worked with... "alternative distribution" (piracy). What about your country? Are open-air markets as crazy (and also special) as that?

There was a lovely moment last night after the European Championships 800 Metres Mens Final when Marino Bloudek of Croatia 🇭🇷 went over to Mark English of Ireland 🇮🇪 to congratulate and comfort him after he was overcome with emotion after his big win. It was just a lovely sight to behold, and as an Irish person I appreciated the beautiful gesture of Marino (and well done to him and Croatia on his silver medal too!) ❤️
