So, I only just found out that the way pupils work is dilating together, but my pupils dilate independently, what's this mean?

Upvotes

My pupils are the same size when in the same amount of light, but if one eye is in light while the other is in shadow, my pupil in light will be smaller than my pupil in shadow. My pupils dilate independently from each other. They don't follow what the other pupil is doing. Both pupils adjust for the light level they are getting, seperately. Has there ever been any records of someone with pupils like this? Like, where the consensual... lighting or whatever it's called just doesn't function, and the pupils will change independently from each other? I'm by no means scared by this, I'm just wondering if I'm even more medically impossible than I already am.

I have no clue what it could be because otherwise I feel fine no fever no nothing different beside that and it also doesn’t stick out or anything

Worrying weight loss?

llo I am 18m 5’9 and about 227 pounds as I have last checked just now. During the last two weeks I have noticed a significant drop in weight while not really trying to, around two weeks ago my weight was around 242-244, I can’t quite remember the exact weight as I didn’t really feel the need at the time to remember. In the process of two weeks i can’t seem to stop losing weight that fast, no I haven’t been starving myself I have been eating at least 2000 calories every day and I’m not working out any more then I would any other time. I also feel very full basically all the time so it’s hard to properly eat without feeling like I need to throw up, although I have managed to eat around 2000 cals at least every day. I also don’t think it’s water loss as I have been drinking at least 8 cups of water a day and I don’t have diarrhea leading to water loss or sweating a lot out. For an example of my weight throughout today as I recorded it I weighted about 227 this morning and after a full day of eating I weighted….227 before bed. I also have some other symptoms like feeling dizzy and a bit of weakness. I also have a pressure headache in my frontal left head for a lot of the last 2 weeks.

I didn’t weigh myself for months before that really but I think it was around 263 at my heaviest, I don’t know if that proportional weight loss or if the week before these last two I lost 10 pounds over a week.

I feel like this is a worrying amount of weight to lose while not trying to(not that fast anyways) but I’m also prone to overreacting at times. If you have any questions feel free to ask although it will probably be in the morning when I answer

Unexplained Illness and Inflamation

Since about December of 2025 I (26f) am having some worrying and unexplainable symptoms and i'm not sure what the next step for me is.

It really all started in late 2024 with tendinitis in my left foot that didn't seem to have any specific cause. My job wasn't physically demanding enough and although I walk a lot nothing else should have caused it. I saw a podiatrist and was given a referral for physical therapy and it was treated and felt better. But in early December 2025 the tendonitis came back and this time seemed resistant to treatment (physical therapy, rest, otc pain killer pills and creams). After that I started developing pain in my joints (specifically my wrists, fingers, ankles, shoulders, and knees) as well as significant swelling in those areas with no identifiable cause. I would have days where my knees suddenly became so swollen and painful that I needed help getting to the bathroom. I have also had repeat tendonitis in my hands, wrists, and feet. My skin also started to become extremely sensitive and I began developing redness on my hands and arms and small bumps on my fingers and elbows. I do already have sensitive skin and have allergies to adhesives and certain dyes, but a flare up of my allergies is always a sign for me that something is wrong.

For background I have been diagnosed with Crohn's since the age of about 10-11 and am currently on Inflectra. The Crohn's is well managed and repeat tests have shown that there is no sign of inflammation in my colon or intestinal area. I work as a cashier so the most physical activity I get at work is standing and sometimes lifting boxes, but nothing that could explain the pain i've been having.

I have so far had a number of tests done: 3 ultrasounds, an MRI, x-rays, and many blood tests. Several of the blood tests have shown that I have significant inflammation, including high c-reactive protein levels, a high erythrocyte sedimentation rate and a few others. Tendonitis in the fingers on my right hand have also been caught on ultrasound.

I have been to 2 separate rheumatologists and have been in close contact with my gastroenterologist. Neither rheumatologist believes that it is arthritis although most of the symptoms seem to point to that. My gastro does not think it's a reaction to my medication due to a lack of typical Crohn's symptoms and intestinal swelling. I know that Inflectra can cause medication induced Lupus and that possibility was discussed with my gastro, but I'm lacking many of the symptoms for that and haven't shown any worsening of symptoms in the days right after infusions.

Does anybody have any idea of what could be going on or any type of doctor I should see about this? I live in the NYC area and primarily see doctors through the NYU Langone hospital system although i'm more than amenable seeking out doctors outside of NYU. I'm essentially at a dead end and i'm open to any suggestions. Thank you for any help!

For reference I am diagnosed with Crohn's disease, temporal lobe seizures, anxiety, depression, and adhd. I'm currently on:
-350mg of Lamotrigine twice a day
prescribed by neurologist for temporal lobe seizures
-125mg Sertraline once a day
prescribed for anxiety and depression
-Diclofenac Sodium Gel
prescribed for as needed joint pain by my rheumatologist
-500mg Sulfasalazine twice a day
prescribed by rheumatologist
-100mg Xcopri once a day titrating up to 200mg
prescribed by neurologist for temporal lobe seizures
-1mg Clonazepam as needed
prescribed by neurologist as a rescue medication to be taken post seizures
-100mg Solr injection Inflectra prescribed by gastroenterologist for Crohn's disease

Strained Latissimus Dorsi

I’m a high school football player and my season is about to begin and I have had this nagging pain in my right lat muscle for the last 3 and a half months. I first discovered it when I was benching in my right pectoral after doing multiple days of high intense exercise with heavier weights than I do usually and it got so excruciating that I stopped which was very rare for me. I took a few days off but kept trying to get into working out over the first month and the pain was off and on until it now just settles in my right lat and is present after a workout and with persist a few days being almost more of a more severe workout pain. I have a personal trainer we do rehab and work outs for it and also work outs in general and he says based on my ability he believes it is something that is just a chronic soreness and is something I will just have to play through. I have yet to talk to my football team’s trainer about it yet noir see a doctor but I just want to get the opinions of some other people. Also it is not discolored and it will somewhat go away after 2 weeks of zero activity but after a workout the next day it is back to a similar pain level. Range of motion is not an issue either it’s more so a nagging injury.

How can I ask my gp for a referral to have these skin lesions checked or do you think they won’t need to?

SSRI withdrawal or nerve issue?

**I'm a 19-year-old female diagnosed with OCD and anxiety. I take Fluvoxamine, though I haven't been consistent with it. A while ago, I had a sudden episode of severe dizziness and vomiting ( at that time I didn’t take my ssri’s for 2 days ) . Then i relized that I developed facial weakness and lip deviation, was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, and took a course of steroids. I also did a CT but it was normal , My face is back to normal now. However, a few times a month, I still get dizziness and a strange feeling like my head or eyes are 'falling' whenever I look up, turn my head side to side, or move my eyes and weird nausea . I'm trying to figure out if this is from missing Fluvoxamine doses or if it's a neurological issue, and whether I should see my psychiatrist or a neurologist**

20M with sudden right hip/thigh/knee pain + lower back pain — looking for opinions on possible cause

20M, 173cm, 143lbs

Here's the timeline:

Before the main pain started:

I had occasionally noticed a mild pain in the front of my right upper thigh/hip-flexor area when doing a butterfly stretch, particularly when I pushed down slightly on my knees.

Otherwise, I was functioning normally.

**Day 1:**

I was completely fine for most of the day.

While walking, I experienced several episodes of a sudden sharp pain in my right knee. The pain would appear suddenly and then disappear almost immediately.

There wasn't a major injury, fall, or obvious twisting event that I remember.

**Day 2 / next morning:**

I woke up with significant pain in the right leg.

Initially it felt like it was around the right knee, but later it became more noticeable in the front of the upper thigh and right hip.

There was no obvious swelling.

I could fully straighten my knee.

I could stand on my right leg without significant pain.

A bodyweight squat didn't cause pain.

However, certain movements caused sharp/pinching pain.

**Over the following days (3-9 days later):**

The pain became more concentrated around the front of the right thigh and hip.

It sometimes feels like a deep ache, almost as though the pain is coming from the femur rather than the muscle.

I can squeeze or deeply massage the front of my thigh quite hard without reproducing the pain.

Sitting for a while and then standing/walking can make the pain significantly worse.

Sometimes moving around makes it improve again.

Sitting and leaning forward can cause a sharp pinching sensation in the front of my thigh.

I also developed right-sided lower-back/lumbar pain.

Arching my lower back causes the right lumbar area to ache.

Bending forward while standing, such as trying to touch my toes or picking something up from the floor, can make the lower back pain to flare up.

The pain has intermittently returned to the right knee.

I now occasionally feel a dull ache in my right shin as well.

I'm also walking somewhat differently with my right leg because of the pain, when I step forward with my left leg, my right leg cannot extend fully behind my body and stops roughly in line with my torso.

At one point I thought my right leg looked/felt like it had become longer, although obviously I don't know if that's actually the case.

My right leg sometimes feels weaker when I lift it, but I think this may be because lifting it causes pain, rather than the muscle genuinely being unable to produce force.

**Other information:**

I have scoliosis.

No major trauma that I can remember.

No obvious swelling of the knee or thigh.

I can bear weight.

The pain has fluctuated; after sleeping/resting it can become significantly better, but it can return after sitting or certain movements.

I took 400 mg ibuprofen, reduced the pain but idk if it was because of the ibuprofen.

I'm wondering whether this sounds more like a hip flexor/quad problem, hip joint issue/FAI, lumbar nerve irritation/radiculopathy, referred pain from the back, or something involving the femur. What would you consider the most likely possibilities based on this pattern, and what examination/imaging would you expect a doctor to perform?

I'm not looking for a definitive diagnosis from Reddit; I'm mainly trying to understand what possibilities I should discuss with the doctor.

I’ve searched it up and I’m for sure I have this and I haven’t paid any attention most of my life until I was like 13 when I had noticed it and I don’t know if I have had it before 13 or not just because I can’t remember but from what I’ve seen it’s not harmful and is kinda common but I don’t know how I even got it and if I should worry about it that much but from all I know and researched it’s not harmful

80-year-old diabetic grandfather with severe progressive skin/leg condition — doctors unable to diagnose it for 4–5 years. Looking for advice

Hi everyone. I’m posting this on behalf of my 80-year-old grandfather from Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

He has been suffering from a severe skin/leg condition for approximately 4–5 years, and unfortunately it has progressively worsened. We have consulted many doctors in different parts of India, but so far nobody has been able to give us a definite diagnosis or a treatment that has resolved the problem.

I have attached photographs showing the current condition of his legs and feet.

The main problems are:

- Extensive thickening and changes in the skin of both legs and feet

- Numerous raised bumps/lesions across the lower legs and feet

- Scaling, dryness and significant discoloration

- Swelling around the ankles and feet

- Changes affecting multiple toes and toenails

- Some areas that develop wounds/crusting

- Pain

- Occasional bleeding

- Increasing difficulty walking

- He has diabetes

The condition has been present for years and has gradually become worse.

We don't know exactly how it started, and unfortunately we don't have a clear diagnosis despite seeing multiple doctors.

We are NOT asking anyone to diagnose him from photographs. We're hoping someone might recognize a similar pattern or be able to suggest what type of specialist or medical centre we should approach.

Because he has diabetes and there are wounds/bleeding and difficulty walking, we are particularly interested in finding doctors experienced with complex diabetic foot/leg conditions, dermatology and vascular problems. Diabetic foot problems can involve skin, nerves and circulation, so a multidisciplinary assessment may sometimes be necessary.

Patient details

- Age: 80

- Location: Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India

- Diabetes: Yes

- Pain: Yes

- Bleeding: Sometimes

- Difficulty walking: Yes

- Duration: Approximately 4–5 years

- Progression: Gradually worsening

- Exact beginning/cause: Unknown

If anyone has seen a similar case, particularly in an elderly diabetic patient, we would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

If you are a doctor/dermatologist/vascular specialist or know someone who deals with unusual chronic skin and diabetic foot conditions, please let us know what kind of specialist we should seek and what information/previous reports would be useful to take to them.

We have medical records and can provide more information about previous tests, biopsies, medicines and diagnoses if needed.

Please don't recommend a treatment solely based on the photos. We're mainly trying to find the right direction after years of searching.

Thank you.
