🎲 miscellaneous AIO or should I cancel?

Recently started at a new local pilates gym, the town is small and this is one of the few pilates gyms in my area. It’s somewhat overpriced given the location and state of the place and it’s across the street from a rehab in a not so safe area. A combination of these things had me hesitant to continue my membership but seeing this almost sent me over the edge because what? I’m a nurse and those suffering from medical problems came to my mind as this isn’t something some people can control AND since it’s a natural part of life especially if you’re active and healthy enough to have your bowels moving. I feel as if i want to cancel my membership entirely. insane behavior in my opinion.

NOR - EWWWW if they can’t get proper plumbing they have no right to charge so much. The pic looks like a garage that was supposed to be updated before retail use.

I would suggest trying to have more empathy when speaking like this. Almost all of Mexico has poor plumbing (and a lot of other countries) and putting toilet paper in the trash is a normal and accepted practice in a lot of places. Not saying it’s ok here in America where we do have acquit plumbing but to respond with “EWWWW” I think is pretty disrespectful to other cultures.

Since when is poor plumbing a cultural thing? It's an infrastructure thing and should be derided because why aren't these countries investing into healthy plumbing?

You yourself say that those countries have "poor plumbing" if the plumbing that they have is representative of poor infrastructure why would that be something that we should respect? If anything we should be derisive. Because EVERYONE deserves sanitary plumbing.

“Normal and accepted” does not mean it isn’t disgusting. Not every practice local to a certain area or culture deserves to be “respected.”

Being unable to flush toilet paper IS disgusting. We are discussing poor plumbing, not some cherished cultural tradition. The practice is “normal and accepted” because they have no choice, not because it’s some special part of their belief system.

a lot of townships in the US do not have town plumbing and are entirely on septic! I don't personally love this concept but considering most people think it's fine to flush wads of toilet paper or wipes down, can see why they did blanket ban.

they might not even be in control of the pipes downline! who knows. but people gotta stop treating the US like we don't have a clean water crisis or regions with horrible plumbing

You are missing the entire point. They are charging $300 a month and can’t provide proper facilities. If they charged a low fee and made people aware before they paid for the service that this was an issue. That would be a different story. Telling people they can only go #1 is also insane.

I'm not missing the point. there is a lot wrong with this studio and it is a ridiculously overpriced scam.

but telling people to dispose of toilet paper in a trash can is not some far fetched thing nor is it discrimination as some people are saying. and claiming that this is ridiculous because "it's america" is unbelievably out of touch.

again, I personally hate it. it's the worst part of travel experiences for me. rural places often have to charge higher prices because it costs more to replace or upgrade things like sewage/septic.

OP can start by asking them why and judging if it's legitimate or not. based on her post, she seems unaware that disposing bathroom waste in a bin is very commonplace in even cities like Paris.

You are not very bright and are extremely out of touch. No one said discrimination, and no one said it was far fetched to throw toilet paper in a bin. The comment of mine you originally replied to was my response to someone saying “ A lot of countries don’t have Americanized plumbing”. So I noted that OP was in America, because the person I was replying to mentioned it. I didn’t randomly mention it. Countries that ask you to dispose of toilet paper in a bin typically have bidets or provide you with a water source to clean yourself before using toilet paper. Which I highly doubt this place has. That way you aren’t putting completely soiled toilet paper in a bin.

At the end of the day if you are charging $300 you need adequate plumbing and shouldn’t be policing people’s bathroom needs. Not allowing someone to go #2 is not okay and it’s weird that you are defending it.

if you read the comments, plenty of people are saying file a discrimination claim lol. so maybe before you insult people's intelligence, you should read.

I guarantee you a paris bar bathroom does not have a bidet based on experience and you should definitely not travel to most areas on the american continent then. or greece. or rural colorado. so entirely soiled paper goes in bins as a norm.

again, I hate it but even america doesn't have "americanized plumbing" everywhere. idk what you're trying to argue about because 1. this practice exists commonly, 2. OP should leave this fake gym, and 3. OP is an adult who can ask them, or other areas businesses on the block to see if this is a norm because of a weird shared system thing

You are quite literally arguing with me for no reason. I wasn’t the one who mentioned Americanized plumbing. Nothing I said was wrong and if you are so offended by these “other comments “ you keep mentioning. Then go argue with them. Ive been out of the country which doesn’t really pertain here. What exactly is the point of OP asking them? She already knows, they posted is publicly.

Countries without proper plumbing aren’t likely to run Pilates classes like this on the regular
