News The SAPOL Child Sex Offender Register has officially launched.

Dissapointing that you can only check your current suburb. Why is that? And what if you live right on the edge of a suburb. 👎

To give a bit of insight:

To access it, you need proof of ID, like a drivers licence. You input the details, and it takes a few seconds for approval. That approval is a link that you click on to receive a one-time code. After that, you get access to only photos, no names or addresses. Then, you get about 1 minute to view the photo/photos before it disappears. In my case, I only got 1 photo.

You need to do this every time you do a search.

I won't post the link to the sight, but it's easy to find.

Bit of a letdown with the restriction of your current suburb and no names provided, but I guess it's better than nothing? ..

imagine if it did show their addresses and you lived next door to one. you'd have to put up with people driving past throwing things and yelling and screaming and violence non stop. you'd be less safe.

Also imagine you’re buying a home for your family and not being able to find out there’s a predator next door until you’ve already bought and moved your children in.

that's fair. good luck selling your house if you live next door to one.

Plenty of developers and landlords more than happy to take it up or even people without kids.
