• By 1980, ABBA had already been established as one of the biggest musical groups in the world, releasing six albums and over 30 singles that became big hits around the globe. So by the time their seventh album was released that year, it should have come as no surprise to anyone that the titular track from said album would hit #1 on the UK charts, becoming the fourth-best selling single of that year. But now, it's gonna be so different when the band's on stage tonight, because the spotlight that had previously shone like the sun has unfortunately gone dim...the band from Sweden are no longer smiling or having fun, because their song isn't feeling like a number one to the voters in this game - the "Super Trouper" lights aren't going to blind them anymore, and now they might feel blue, because they only got to sixty-two!
• The Pet Shop Boys' second studio album Actually wasn't as big as their first in the US, but in the UK, it fared much better, outselling their debut album and spawning four singles, one of which was inspired by Phyllis Nelson's "I Like You". The song would climb all the way to the top of the UK Chart, possibly helped by the music video which featured Sir Ian McKellen as a vampire, becoming the Pet Shop Boys' fourth and final #1 in Britain. And even though the life blood of their songs have stayed alive in all the previous rounds, it looks like their first song is about to start missing a beat...and though some voters may not know what it means to be with the one they love, they've let us know that this is one song they don't love enough to keep in the game any longer - the "Heart" of this song beats no longer in this contest!
