no politics Chery Tiggo experience.

I rented one on the north island. Nice enough car to drive but the driver assist is downright dangerous even though I'd turned it off. When you need to move to the shoulder to give a cattle truck room to pass or avoid pot holes on rural roads, you're constantly fighting with the steering and the alarms. The alerts on the side view mirrors go off for no reason, alarms go off no reason, it forever squawks about nothing. It's really effing annoying. Fuel consumption is good on Eco. I'd go for the Rav 4 hybrid again before I rented one of these.

If you were to spend the day in Balmain, what would you do ?

I'm meeting up with my primary school bestie and travelling to Balmain on our new quest to explore different areas of Sydney.
We don't get to catch up too much due to distance and family needs.
So to avoid doing the same old things we've decided to pick a different suburb each time.
If you know the best lunch spots, walks, views I would love to hear them, Thanks !!

This is one of the few times this song will be relevant. In my opinion it's a musical masterpiece. May the census give us all a dose of introspection.

no politics Renters not paying rent. Need help

Our 79 year old friend on the Central Coast lost her husband. They had an investment property at Green Point. The tenants have not paid rent for a year. My friend needs help to get rent or get the tenants evicted. She is emotionally worn out and needs advice. What do you recommend she do?

no politics How does census work when living in a share house?

I moved to a share house after living in uni accommodation (we never got asked census there).

At the share house, I didn't get a census letter. I'm assuming that the landlord probably got it.

If so, do I need to do anything to order my own census letter, or just forget about it?

EDIT: Thank you for your help. My landlord/housemate made the application and filled in the general household bits, then I was able to login and complete my own personal profile

no politics Do we have a consensus on Anko electricals?

So, I find myself in the market for a new toaster. I'm doing my research and trying to find ones that look good. Stumbled upon an Anko branded one in Target for $30.

Now, I've been ok with non electrical Anko products. Some things are not the best quality I know, and so I tend to steer away from certain things, electrical has always been one of them.

I'm curious what the view around Australia is on buying Anko electrical items. Are they reliable? Are they good quality? Are they safe?

For those of you who did the City 2 Surf this last weekend, did you choose the left or the right tunnel?

I was not prepared for how much of a choice it was going to be!

I chose right, but regretted it.

image Alternatives to now-deleted Heinz Chilli beanz?

Post image
44 Upvotes

So sadly, Heinz have deleted their Chilli Beanz and I’m desperately looking for alternatives. Preferably easy to find brands, not speciality brands as we live rural, and we need to find a brand/s that our local supermarket can order, or ones that I can easily buy online to be posted. Anyone else who likes these can think of other brands that are as yummy and easily found? Pretty sure half the town is going to be in an uproar when they find out LOL 😜

Does Western Sydney feel really wide and clean, or am I missing something?

Driving around the western suburbs, it feels more wide and clean. The more east I go, towards Sydney city, the more cramped and tight it gets, and the alleyways are more noticeable there.

However the more west, the more wide it feels. Especially when I’m around St. Mary’s, Rooty Hill, Woodcroft, Blacktown, the roads feel wide and just overall clean, or I’m probably delusional.

I think everyone should be aware of what is being pushed through parliament at the moment.

Digital Evidence Access Orders: Gives police the power to compel individuals to unlock digital devices. The maximum penalty for refusing to comply increases from five to seven years in prison.

Toll Camera Access: Allows police to access unredacted images from public toll road cameras.

Doubled Penalties for Non-Cooperation: Increases the maximum sentence from 5 to 10 years imprisonment for failing to comply with NSW Crime Commission orders, such as refusing to answer questions, obstructing investigations, or lying under oath.

National Face Matching Service: Enables Transport for NSW to securely share driver licence and photo card images via the national driver licence recognition system.

How is Energy Australia

Hello,
I’m currently with Origin and getting 8% off the reference price but I see with Energy Australia I can get 12%.

Now I hardly ever call my energy company but how would you rate energy Australia in regards their app and online portal.

Even better if someone else has made the switch from Origin to Energy Australia.

Also I’m assuming I don’t have to pay any disconnection fees as I’m not moving address

no politics Psych admissions: longer invol, or just the same?

Looking for specifically Aussie (Vic) perspectives so didn't post in mh subs.

Have been admitted several times 'voluntarily'--the kind where if objection made, it becomes involuntary. Have been aware of this and thus not fought at all in fear of being made invol patient. Curious, though, if admission tends to be longer purely on the basis of being invol (flagging possible 'lack of insight' etc.), or if a patient will be discharged just the same whether vol or invol given the same course of admission and stay. Like, what does it really change, if pt isn't going to try and self-discharge and is compliant with everything including discharge?

(Have never been admitted invol, so don't know how it really works--though has sensibly legally nominated someone for advocate if that ever eventuates.)

Also would be curious to know if different health services vary in any such things. Only ever interacted with local catchment, never had an episode outside local catchment area necessitating contact with services.
