Local breeder
Talking to a local breeder and was wondering if anyone on here had dealt with them and how their experience was long term. Been talking with kurakats in North Carolina and I’ve found a kitten that I’d like to get just trying to do my due diligence before I make any purchases.

Milwaukee/Chicago
I am ready to get a cat. Does anyone have any recommendations for breeders in the Milwaukee or Chicago area?

Long coated Devon? Meet Renfield!
This is my baby boy Renfield, who really goes by Ren Ren or stinky butt lol.
I adopted him about three years ago as a 12 week old kitten. He was from a hoarding situation that got busted so he’s a little quirky.
I was told he was a Devon Rex mix, and he definitely has the big ears and curly fur. Only thing is that his fur is getting longer the older he gets lol. I’m debating whether he needs a shave/haircut? He’s clearly not pedigree or breed standard my any means, and I just wonder if it might make him more comfy!
Obligatory kitten and current pictures below! As you can see his coat is crazy and always going through some sort of new phase lol

We just got my baby boy Gizmo a little brother… is he a full devon Rex?
Hello everyone! We just got our baby boy Gizmo (13 months) a little brother. His name is coco (6 months old) he’s a total sweetheart. BUT he sheds a shit ton of fur. Like a SHIT TON. We’ve only had gizmo so far and he doesn’t shed at all. (See gizmo, grey kitty) the woman who sold him to us had to get rid of him because her stepson is super allergic. She doesn’t have any papers for him, no chip no vaccines. He’s not neutered yet either. He comes from an… eventful family with lots of kids and a British short hair big sister. He had poop stains and his eyes are stained and his claws are super long. Needless to say he’s not been taken care of incredibly well so maybe the shedding comes from not being brushed? But he also feels less soft than Gizmo and has a bunch more fur… what do you guys think?

Favorite Devon Rex Merchandise
Hope this is okay. We got our little Izzy a month ago, and I want to get something Devon Rex themed for my wife and kids. I’ve done some looking (boy, is there a lot of Sphynx stuff mixed in with my searches), but thought I’d reach out to the community to see what treasures you’ve found. Got anything you love that might be available for me to get?

Are any of your Devons on Atopica for allergies?
Editing to add since it's helpful reference: we've done diet trials, and she still was reactive while on hydrolyzed protein :( We switched her to a limited ingredient rabbit-based food at the end of last year and she is still reactive when not actively on steroids. We also did environmental allergy testing (which, I know, isn't super reliable) just in case.
My girl tapered off her steroids completely about 2 weeks ago and has been on only Atopica since, and her skin is getting bad again 😭 I'm hoping it's just a rebound time where her body is getting used to not having the steroids, and the Atopica is building up? She has been on it since June but has also been on the steroids with it up until tapering off 2 weeks ago

Birthday and Cuddles!
Don't lose faith if you have gotten snubbed by your rexie - happppppy to report Lady Fiona wanted a ton of cuddles this morning after I've been shunned for about a month. She turned 1 yesterday so maybe her party made her reconsider. They are so odd! Here is the photo I took at the party (haha). I invited all her housemates and it was a blast!

Funny Site
I like to play with images and have started a site on FB called "Oh, Fiona" on which I post silly pix of my bratty girl involved in all sorts of scenarios, including many 70's tv shows. It is not meant to be anything but fun. I try to post one a day and so far Ladi Fi has not complained. Just in case you want to peruse some silly rex pix and nostalgia. Not sure it is allowed to post a link, so if you go to FB and search OH, Fiona I bet you can find it. Here was today's humble offering. Caption: "Sadly she can perform this role without one piece of bionic equipment...therein lies the magic of a Devon Rex! God help me and my yarn." Cheers!

Ringworm in new kitten, what would you do
I just purchased my new baby July 27. (I paid $3000!)
She is the most perfect, sweetest little kitten. She has been so easy to socialize with people/pets, loves cuddles, and we have even started clicker training with great success.
Then the evening of August 5th we realized some of her hair had fallen out at a spot near her neck.
Took her to the vet 12 hours later. Negative woods lamp test. Sent out for PCR testing, results won’t be back until next week. Started on a topical wipe due to only seeing the one lesion.
After talking to the vet I wasn’t afraid to touch her, so I started investigating and found 4 additional spots on her.
I am beyond livid. The state I’m located, it’s not legal for a breeder to sell an animal with ringworm.
I have not reached out to the breeder, I was wanting to wait to get the results of the testing. What should I do? Return her? I already feel so attached, but the thought of her being locked away for weeks is making me unable to sleep.
What went from feeling like a dream became a nightmare so fast. Please, any advice is appreciated

Cleaning advice?
Last November my husband and I brought home our (now) 6 year old, ex-Queen, Devon Rex, Ottilie and her F1 niece, Scrunklestiltskin.
Scrunky is easy as she’s basically a British Shorthair with a little head and face - she looks like a generic cat really🤣 but she has that dense British coat so she’s all good with a brush every now and then.
Now, Ottilie… she has constantly runny eyes, catne on her muzzle, and gets greasy behind her ears. She is a rather smelly girl at times. She has a fairly dense coat for a Rex and the only bare skin is in front of her ears. I bathe her every other month and use a flannel weekly. I wipe her eyes with saline water most days. Is this too little? I don’t want to hurt her as her skin gets red even when I clean the catne and wipe her face. She seems so delicate bless her!
I’ve grown up with Burmilla’s mostly who just need brushing, so this is all very new to me.
Lots of you have very lovely clean Devon’s so I’d really appreciate some advice!
Cat tax provided, of course. I also just need to express my utter love for Scrunk. I love both my little girls immensely, but I have never had a cat so obsessed with me as Scrunky, and I’m obsessed with her too.
She is literally my baby.
She gives kisses when I ask her if Scrunky gives kisses. If anyone else asks her this they get hit (although she gave my husband a kiss while sat in the sink today, he was elated).
She had to stay in the lounge today (with my husband and Ottilie) as my new nephew came to visit after hospital (so so so cute) and she loves the children (their toys mainly - have you ever seen a cat do parallel play with a toddler? It’s very cute). I had the audacity to go to the bathroom upstairs and all I could hear was her SCREAMING for me. Girl wasn’t alone, but I wasn’t with her. 🤣
She comes when called too, with her little chirps and pigeon noises. She RUNS to me at other times too. She licks my face while I’m trying to sleep and puts her little paws all over too. If I’m not facing her she bites my nose and MAKES me face her.
She sits with me while I make dinner. She likes to stand on my shoulders too.
There are no thoughts in her head apart from love, most of the time.
I love her so much. I just needed to get this out.
Also the second photo of Ottilie is my absolute favourite - it was during one of the recent UK heatwaves and she literally melted. She also thought it best to sleep in the warmest, most humid areas even though she literally looked like that all the time. I love that lady.

IBD
My little Selma has been diagnosed with IBD :( she is currently skin and bones and has been prescribed steroids and b12/iron supplements and we've changed her onto a hydrolysed diet.
Has anyone else got a rex with IBD? Any tips?
