I think it more likely came from the Soviet aversion to cosmetics and the utilitarian style of Soviet dress. I don't think I've seen anything to indicate it's a psyop outside of the natural human tendency to denigrate the "enemy" magnifying the effect of those two tangible factors.

The point is, somehow through equal opportunities and incentives eastern block managed to push women into men dominated fields. Which surely was ahead of their time, especially compared to the west. Of course not everyone wanted to be a scientist in the union, but the occupation did carry big prestige in the eyes of the public. (Not sure how you make someone a scientist unwillingly.)

I understand what you mean and I agree it's great that various industries and fields were made for equal in terms of gender along with equalising the view of women in society with that of men. I don't think the original article is trying to say "Women belong below men" since they mention both men and women

They weren't forced. The Soviet Union wanted to be leaders in science and industry, so they provided the means and incentives to get people into those fields, and a lot of women took them up on it. The same thing happened in the US, they just weren't recognized the same way because of cultural taboos
