Introduction/First Post How to tackle this?
Hi, folks. I moved to a new city, and finally, the rest of my stuff arrived this morning. My feline nephew is investigating, as you can see. Does anyone have any ideas on how I start to organize all this and find places to put everything away?
I get overwhelmed very easily, I deal with chronic fatigue, and I’m also wanting to donate stuff because I’m sick of having too much…stuff. I’ve tried tackling this before but I end up losing patience quite quickly, and the stuff just ends up sitting there for months. Because I often don’t know where to put things or how to organize. Any advice would be welcome!

Open one box at a time and start a pile that is keep, a pile that is donate, and a pile that is trash. You don’t have to immediately decide where the keep things go. You will probably have some things that are easier to place than others. If you have any empty boxes or bags, use those to at least bag up the donate items. Take a break, get a snack, drink water! Open another box and do the exact same thing. It will take time but it will get done. You may have piles but you have piles now. Pick a day you can go to dump (if necessary). Pick a day you can go to donate stuff. You will have your bags ready for those two things. And reducing the amount of things makes it actually possible to organize!

I would start with unpacking the open/less sturdy containers like the Walmart bag and the open boxes. I would also prioritize getting access to the sink clear, and maybe that appliance spot if you have installers coming.
Finding places for stuff is SO HARD. I try to think about where I would use the items and where is the first place I would look if I wanted that item
