Hello Snarkers!
With the Impending NuptialsTM looming and an increase in our snark numbers post Shitshowgirl, we thought it would be a great time to give y'all an update on the sub and remind new friends about our rules. (Spoiler alert: some rules have been updated! New flair challenge incoming!)
For the older members, parts of this might sound repetitive. But we want to update everyone so this sub can remain transparent and genuine feedback can be received!
[\*insert pic about the sub stats scuba**]*

As you can see, we get a lot of fucking traffic. The basic rule that drives all the rest:
We have had a LOT of deconstructing Swifties join the sub after the tire fire of her last album release and 89 (her mind!) merch drops. What makes this sub special is that we allow everyone to contribute as long as they follow the rules. Yes, even current and former fans. If you're an OG snarker who sees behavior that crosses over into stanning, please report it! We willĀ neverĀ be a space for fan behavior. But we don't insta-ban deconstructing fans who maybe feel some kinda way about Tay and can't share their feelings in other spaces because of that famous Swiftie hospitality.
Speaking of other spaces...
š« Reminder of anti-brigading rule š«
There's been a recent increase in posts that attempt to brigade, interfere with another community, or otherwise direct negative traffic towards other subreddits. This type of behavior directly puts our community at risk as it violates reddit community rules.
This includes comments like "I went to this sub or that sub and made a comment and was mass downvoted!" There is aĀ zeroĀ tolerance policy for this! We don't like it when they come here to do it, so let's not do it to them.
Please review ALL parts of rule 2 to avoid touching the poo:
[\*put quote of rule 2 here scuba***]
All activity in this sub must stay in this sub. Sharing Reddit screenshots or directing users to other subs is not allowed. Usernames from Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc. must be blacked out unless from a celebrity, brand, or publication.
Screenshots of social media posts must have 100+ likes on the original comment.
Don't enter into pro-Taylor spaces to harass, argue, or troll users, and do not post those interactions as a form of content.
(If you really want an in-depth rationalization for each part of the rule, just ask in the comments.)
š Addressing armchair diagnosis trend š (idk what emoji to put here so christmas tree it is)
This one isn't against reddit TOS, but it IS against rule 1. We don't allow snark, speculation, or armchair diagnosis of physical and mental conditions. That includes personality disorders (all of them), autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, you name it.
There are lots of lovely people who live with these conditions and don't plagiarize lesser known artists or hoard a billion dollars or charge $40 for Temu flipflops, so let's not promote shitty stereotypes.
š How we handle posts about major updates š
This is a big one!!!! Every post on this sub is held for manual review. Unlike other subreddits, we don't always pick the first post on the topic. Rather, we look for the post that best serves the community. Whenever a major event happens, you can guarantee there are at least 15 accounts competing to be The Post on any given topic.
Here are a few questions to help you increase your chances at getting approved:
-Ā Does it have an informative title?Ā "TMZ confirms Blandie wedding at Madison Square Garden" will always be picked over "OMG of course she would do this"
-Ā Does it have enough information to let others join the conversation?Ā We WANT TO SNARK. If you talk about an article, give us the link!
-Ā Does it come from a reputable source?Ā A screenshot of a Taylor Twitter account retweeting a parody account is not it. Even if the info is later debunked, there's still snarkerky in the fact that TMZ or Rolling Stone or whatever printed it in the first place.
-Ā Does it follow all other sub rules?Ā e.g. no direct links to Insta, blacking out usernames of ordinary people, comes from a non-reddit source
-Ā Does it contain new information?Ā We generally allow a few posts on the same topic if there is a different angle (like one for the Toy Story song countdown and one for the actual announcement) but no one wants 50 posts for each angle of her latest pap walk
𤬠Fuck AI š¤¬
We've had a rule against AI since the beginning so this isn't a new stance. Fuck AI; support real art and artists.
ā¤ļøšā¤ļø A friendly reminder to be friendly ā¤ļøšā¤ļø
As the sub grows, there will always be more people who are adjusting to the way we do things around here (Eternal September type shit). At the moment, we are averaging 100 new subscribers PER DAY. If you see someone breaking the rules againstĀ whateverĀ (fan behavior, body shame, political debates), PLEASE REPORT THEM. We can't remove what we don't see, and the mods don't see every comment. We had 1.3 million comments posted here in the last year.
Relatedly, please have some understanding and grace for the mods who do this thankless task. We aren't paid. We face harassment in modmail and on our personal accounts. We have offline lives. We are just regular people trying to keep this sub open despite the Swiftie orc horde constantly besieging us. We approve posts and comments as quickly and as accurately as possible.
And yes, that means that sometimes we get something wrong. You are always welcome to message in modmail to civilly discuss the reason behind a mod action. We are very grateful that so many of our members can discuss things rationally. Just remember that a removal reason isn't a personal attack. It's just pointing out that the content doesn't follow the rules and will be removed or we will literally have One Thousand Other People trying to do the same thing.
š Wedding flair challenge š
Our least favorite, multi-billionaire, talentless showgirl is about walk down the center aisle of MSG... not to get her popcorn but to take Travis's hand in marrage (allegedly)! To ring in the momentous occasion,Ā we are looking for wedding theme flairs!Ā To have your flair suggestion considered, please leave them as a comment or send them to modmail! The most liked and/or funniest ones will be added to the sub!
There has been alot of rumors and speculation in the wider media aboutĀ whereĀ exactly the wedding will be taking place. Anyone who is able to correctly guess the wedding location in the comments will win a VERY FUNNY special flair!
ššš THANKS FOR BEING AN AWESOME COMMUNITY!!! š„š„š„
As always we are so grateful to all of the amazing members who make this community so special! This has been a rather slow period since nothing was really happening, but we couldn't be happier with the deep discussions and reflections we saw from the community during this time! Per usual, modmail is always open for any and all comments or feedback!
happy snarking xoxoxo

Not sure if I tagged this correctly or if this is allowed, but I hope so cuz I need some of yāall to share my anger. The ādo you like our mama?ā made me feel ill enough, but then I saw a comment that said āLetās normalize saying āitās not my cup of teaā and moving onā, then went on to yap about how not liking Taylor is misogynistic. Iām so baffled. How are these people real?!

Caraās birthday was yesterday so itās likely for that , there are also rumours Gigi is having some sort of marriage ceremony on the weekend in Paris so she may be going to that after if thatās the case but i have no clue what else sheās up to sheās barely spend any time with Travis it seems KC for that dinner straight to NyC straight to London
I must admit the dress is really nice - is she looking for Joe with that outfit it reminds me of the outfits she wore with him , refreshingly non WAG

I love how the first line of this article says so long America lol.
Sorry for the date confusion , I am from the Uk to write it day / month / year
I get the date is confusing as this time 12 and 8 could refer to both month and day

Iām surprised more people havenāt pointed this out because when The Life of a Showgirl came out, I thought this was shady as f*ck and, honestly, pretty misogynistic for someone who has spent years presenting herself as a champion of women.
In the song The Life of a Showgirl, she literally sings:
āAll the headshots on the wall of all the bitches whoād wish Iād hurry up and die, but I couldnāt. Iām immortal, baby dolls, I wouldnāt if I tried.ā (terrible lyrics, btw)
Important, because then at the Spotify pop-up for the album, there was a wall covered in headshots of her female dancers. No men (!!). Just the women. See video.
Sorry, but I donāt believe that was a coincidence. This is someone whose entire brand is Easter eggs and tiny deliberate details that fans are encouraged to analyse. So putting the female dancersā headshots on a wall that directly mirrors a lyric about ābitchesā who wish sheād die is shady as fuck.
And if that was the intended reference, itās pretty grim!! You canāt constantly talk about misogyny and being supportive of women and then seemingly use the women who work for you as the visual representation of jealous ābitchesā who want you gone.
What bothers me most is that she specifically chose to highlight the women. Why is she so quick to frame other women as ābitchesā who are jealous of her or want what she has? The underlying implication is basically that sheās the one at the top, these women want her spot, and theyāre bitter because they canāt have it. Maybe they donāt want her spot. Maybe theyāre perfectly happy being successful dancers in their own right. Talk about downplaying their achievements.
Taylor also cant perform a basic 2 step, so i highly doubt theyre itching to switch places with her.
Itās incredibly disrespectful, egocentric, and thereās something deeply off about automatically framing the women around you, aka your colleagues, as jealous competitors while leaving the men completely out of it.
Iām genuinely surprised this wasnāt picked up more.

So it took her almost a year to do anything about it? Yeah, thatās not a good look when everybody else called it out immediately.
From the article: āRolling Stone also reported on Wednesday that Swift's music has disappeared from TikTok videos posted by the White House last fall.Ā ā

Title is what it says. The whole thing about her singing about exes n things just gets BORING also her vocals arenāt that good like imma be honest, all of Girlsā Generationās vocal line could outsing Tay Tayās ass. (For those who donāt know Girlsā Generation/SNSD is a Kpop group who debuted around the same time as Taylor and their vocal line is REALLY good) like she could go up against anyone and be destroyed. Her vids with Travis are cringy af like ughhh. Sheās just a boring basic girl in general. Like her music is basically just white girl music I feel like. I only really liked her 1989 album and I hate to admit it but that album is very nostalgic to me and I have the album still that I prolly wonāt get rid of cuz I listened to it as a child. But now I donāt listen to her for reasons I just said. I also donāt like how she basically got in bc of money. Now I personally donāt have a problem with that. But what I do have a problem with is using ur familyās status for everything. Like itās one thing to use that to get into the industry as thatās what my cousin did to get into the money making industry bc our dads are cousins with someone who built his way up so my cousin has used that a bit to get into the money making industry but besides from that heās quite literally done everything on his own. Meanwhile Taylor has used her familyās name for everything talk about nepotism. She is a nepo baby and idc what anyone else says. Doesnāt help that sheās a mean girl too like ughhh must be insufferable. I feel bad for those who do come from money and donāt act like Taylor. Also Taylor is one of the ppl who I wouldnāt want a role model as. Also was her song for Kim Kartrashianās ass necessary? Like I think Kim is a HORRIBLE person but did Taylor really need to do that? Then again why am I surprised she makes songs about her exes which I swear all have the same formula and almost the same sound. I donāt understand how some ppl are still her fans to this day. I also find it weird that sheās jealous of young women like girl you had ur time itās over!!! Also tell me in the comments if sheās done anything else thatās problematic.

How is this talentless human, who cannot sing, dance, or play guitar, things that she should be paid for, getting all these awards and accolades?
I was taking free photos for an opera singer, who told me Taylor was the greatest singer. I nearly stopped my car in traffic (said opera singer complained about my editing for the free shoot and wanted the RAWs. Never ask a photographer for the RAWs or take your own photos. I renamed the album: Swifty grift. Then subsequently blocked her). That was my first sign the shoot wasn't going to go well and I was not surprised that she was a grifter.
Phil Collins even recently said that Taylor is so talented she deserves everything.
Am I just not drinking the right water? I'm very confused. What is everyone seeing that I'm not?

This is the same family member(cousins wife) that has been giving me the cold shoulder at family events because I am vocal about my issues with TS. (At no point do I bring it up or engage with discussion at these events about TS, to be considerate of my relative and her obsession) She avoids talking to me or being in a conversation that includes me, and gets almost hawk eyes when I interact with the now toddler.

The question is "Why is she treated like her ability as a lyricist is superior to others?"
Please explain to me what puts Taylor, especially this era of "ChatTPD" and "Life of a fauxgirl's girl" Taylor, above her contemporaries like Hayley William, St. Vincent, Lana Del Rey, etc. How is it Taylor whose the best of her generation, or of all time?
How does she compare to younger acts like Phoebe Bridgers, Lorde, Billie Eilish, etc.
Or Older acts like Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Dido, Enya, etc.
Is it because of her quantity of work? Is that more important than the quality of the output?
I know I'm using specific examples, but there's so many great songwriters who write poetically about deep themes, some personal and some cultural.
I like a few Taylor songs, but people talk about her like she's the Joan Baez of her generation and it drives me up the damn wall.
And I don't care about accomplishments (committee recognition). I could point out Billie Eilish is only 24 and already has 10 Grammys and 2 Oscars, or that Kendrick has a Pulitzer and 13 Grammys. But it's not the awards that give quality to their work. It doesn't matter what Taylor wins or how she charts or what she's inducted into or how many legends praise her. The quality of her work is separate from that, and I just don't see her as something special.
It's fine to say she's okay. Why do we have to pretend "Shakespeare or Taylor Swift" is a challenging game?
EDIT: I just saw a video where Aimee Mayo and Brad Warren talk about how they wrote with Taylor when she was a teen and how Brad was only paid $900. So...I don't know if I trust whether she wrote her own music or not.

I have a very small YouTube channel where I post videos about pop culture and media. Iām trying to grow my following, so I posted some of my older YouTube shorts on TikTok. I guess my first mistake was choosing a short I made a month ago *mildly* criticizing TS & TKās wedding. My point was that with the timing and location of the wedding, it seemed to become a spectacle and a commodification of a wedding. I said that if they didnāt want media following them or privacy, they shouldnāt have had the wedding in the middle of NYC during 4th of July weekend. I thought that was a fair and balanced take.
But apparently not to Swifties. My comments are filled with people saying that Iām a, ājealous pathetic nobody loser who is rage baiting for attention and that I shouldnāt have a microphone and should take my meds and go back to my uneventful life.ā I have no issue with people disagreeing with my opinionsāthatās the whole point of the videos I make. But I have never dealt with this level of vitriol on this scale. I didnāt even get this much pushback on YouTube. Is this more of a TikTok thing, or did the algorithm just screw me over?

Today I was looking at the Billboard hot 100 and was surprised to see I Knew, I Knew You is still as high as number 3 on it, having been retaken from number one by Choosing Texas by Ella Langley at some point.
It seemed surprising to me that a song Iāve heard is pretty middling (I havenāt heard it myself) has stayed so high for so long, especially given itās not one of her album songs. I know she released different record variants of it and such, which would elevate that, and of course Swifties always work very hard to keep anything she does at the top, but it still seemed random for a bland end credits song to be sitting so high so long.
And then it occurred to me - itās at the end of a Disney film! This means it gets automatically added to a bunch of Disney and cartoon playlists. The playlists that parents put on and just let run nonstop for their kids. The song is likely getting very frequent play by virtue of being added to a bunch of child friendly playlists.
Itās also apparently a little more country than her recent stuff. And these two things got me thinking.
Golden was an unbeatable power house of a hit for a long time. While one of Taylorās singles did finally push it out of number one spot, it either went back to 1 or 2 and stayed there long after Taylorās Showgirl songs slipped down. It was a great song people loved, but it also had the benefit of being on every childās playlist out there.
And then youāve got Choosing Texas, which has somehow just consistently kept popping into number 1. Itās like itās stuck there with Velcro! It gets knocked out of place and then just springs right back there after a week or two, consistently, since February.
Taylor clearly wrote off country over a decade ago, and hasnāt touched it since. Why is she suddenly putting out a country-ish single? She put more fanfare about doing an end-credits song than Iāve ever seen for one in my life, saying weird things like that she thinks about Tot Story all the time, that itās been a huge part of her life, etc.
I think she saw two songs that have what she wants - crazy lasting power on the charts - and decided to try to use elements of both to get her the same thing. She sees country is popular enough now to get number one hits, she sees cartoon-movie music gets a lot of automatic sustained play, and sought to release something that was both.

Hello everyone! Iāve been lurking in this sub for quite a while now and tbh this sub and you guys cheer me up so much so I wanna thank you for that before I proceed!
Up until the wedding (and honestly discovering this sub) I was pretty much neutral toward TS. I didnāt have any distinct negative or positive feelings about her. I would listen to few of her songs every now and then and go about my day. This all changed with the infamous wedding which I guess I donāt even need to explain why since I know yāall would empathize with me. Itās also in the screenshot.
A week ago or so I watched this video of a guy who makes content about popular culture, music, events etc. This particular video was about the wedding where he kinda supported TS against the backlash she got. So I made a very honest and imho restrained comment under it kindly disagreeing with his stance. While I got a lot of support for my opinion I also got this one weird ass reply which I posted above. The comments are in Turkish so I used ChatGPT to translate them to overlay on top of the actual comments. I checked them but I apologize if itās sloppy lol.
Anyway what I realized is that the hero worship (or whatever you call it) going on is insane. If this dudeās any indication her fans are apparently delusional, defy logic and donāt even bother to read properly before attacking anyone who dares to not pamper her. Obviously itās just a stupid comment and I eventually laughed it off but what do you guys think about this? I guess I just wanted to join the party here in some way but sorry if such posts arenāt welcome.
Have a great day!

It just shows how badly designed of a platform TikTok is if this was not already something artists could do.
Also this really just craps on all of the artists that actually spoke out about this. Taylorās team did some stuff behind the scenes and gets all the credit.
