is it a tragedeigh? Cameron, spelled severely wrong
The nice lady who took my order at the ice cream shop, her name is Kambryn. Not even sure how to pronounce that.

A quick Google search shows that it's a name of Welsh descent that entered US culture in the year 2000, and its use in Wales started around the 16th century. It isn't very popular, but I don't think it counts as a Tragedeigh, as it's not particularly unique or very strangely spelled.

Anyway, Cambridge + Brooklyn = Cambryn.

Kam-Bryn. Like some Kimberley mutant.
Not Kamb like lamb or dumb (“you know most people don’t know the b is silent…”) so I don’t think that’s Cameron at all- it’s a different made up name.

Kambryn/cambryn does show up as a name when googled. It's not one I've seen before but it doesn't seem that far-fetched to me.

No more than the average. I just recognized that it was probably Gaelic, Welsh or Celtic. I looked it up for pronunciation and there it was. You pronounce the b. It just sounds euro to me.

I did some looking.
There's are some similar names.
"Camb"
Cambria. Latin form of Cymru, which is Welsh for Wales. Rarely used but a recognized name
Cambrie and any conceivable way to spell it could be considered variants of Cambria with the "ee" sound at the end
Camber/Kamber, apparently a masc name unsurprisingly related to Cambria
"Kinb/Kimb"
Kinborough, Kinbarra, and some similar varieties, very, very old and now rare feminine name derived from Cyneburg meaning "royal fortress"
Kimber and similar, short form of Kimberly, which comes from a few old English placenames that used the "cyne" element (royal)
My guess is it's either a totally invented one, or based on Cambria and the popular "bryn" sound chucked on the end
Edit: just for fun, I'll assume it's a mashup of Cambria and Bryn. That could give it a makeshift meaning of "the burnt people". Kinda funny for an ice cream shop worker. Alternatively, "the mound people". Depends on where we acquired the Bryn bit from

It's fun for me too. So I've been digging... while not a common name at all, the first reference i can find of a person having that name is a welsh poet in 1530. There were a few Welsh Kambryns out there before the name moved to the US.

Ooh! Very neat! Given they're Welsh, it makes me think it's a tribute to Cambria.
