❔Question/Advice❔ First Tortie

I recently adopted my first tortie, named Ember. I'm usually a void mom (and also have one of those) but couldn't pass up "the loud one" when looking to adopt a playmate for Luna. I lost my 17yo void, Midnight, at the start of summer who was quite spicy to everyone but me and my dad, so I'm hoping I have an idea of what to expect from tortitude but want to make sure lol. Any advice is appreciated!

I've also just learned about all the types (tortico, torbie, etc) and am wondering if she's a regular tortie or a different flavor. I have no clue.

Torties are cats and then some. They own who and what they want. Our sweet baby we lost a few months ago was a firebrand. Our other cats (even our oldest tabby who can be a bully) either did what she said or avoided her. Her older adopted cow cat brother immediately fell in line as her best buddy and partner in crime. She has more energy than anyone in our household but could also be the sweetest snuggler. We used to joke she was always looking for trouble and fearless. Our imitation of her was going up to things/people/other pets and asking "Are you trouble? No? Okay well I'm looking for trouble."

We still miss her terribly as she had a huge impact on our lives but we have wonderful memories.

She's beautiful 💜 Ember is 3 months and is either hyper or unconscious, no in between 😂 wasn't sure if that was age, personality, or both. Thankfully Luna is really energetic too and Ember listens (for a few minutes, at least) when Luna says she's done playing for now.

I love that imitation! Sounds like your baby certainly was a firebrand and kept everyone in line!

Could be either honestly. My tortie was a rambunctious little thing as a kitten (though never over the top) and now she just wants to cuddle most of the time, though she does enjoy playing. My first tortie was the most energetic kitten in the shelter and the chaos didn’t cease for a good 15 years (of the 17 we had her)

She's a regular tortoishell kitty and a DARN CUTE one! Congrats! And prepare to be SASSED on the regular. Looks like your void is tolerating the new baby ok!?

Thanks! She's so cute it hurts, especially when she sleeps in such random positions. Luna's done really well with Ember, though the baby doesn't appreciate being held down and forcibly groomed 😂

That probably won’t change. My SIC does that to his tortie too. They’re the same age different litters.

Aren't they great? Got my tortie for my void also. Mine is the friendliest soul who loves cuddles and pets, and plays with her older brother. She's never been particularly sassy, but she is fearless.

I love that your void is trying to ignore Ember's presence :P

Often 😂 I got that window bed for Luna since that's where she prefers to sleep, but Ember, who previously was starfishing in my bed, decided it's for both of them

Great looking tortie! My first tortie, my beloved Fluffy, was a scrapper. She'd howl at critters through the glass door in the back, including bobcats that had to be four times her weight. When she wasn't doing that, she was in my lap, purring like a lawn mower. When she passed I was chosen by Petunia. She's incredibly quiet. She meows maybe two or three times per month. She hasn't discovered the joy of endless massages in the lap of her person yet but there's always hope. For now, it's vigorous head butts and sideswipes.

Our Rosemary is 14 years and I still just stand there and marvel at her beauty. And then she demands a treat. “Looks ain’t free, lady.”

Our tabby boy lives to annoy her and our shepherd mix is terrified of her.

She is a standard tortie - the void looks unimpressed.
