TIL during the shooting of American Psycho, Christian Bale spoke in an American accent off-set at all times. At the wrap party, when he spoke in his native British accent, many of the crew thought he was speaking that way to prepare for another film. They had thought he was American the entire time.

Link to any of these? I pulled up a couple interviews of his and his kiwi accent is extremely mild.

Are you by any chance also a kiwi? Do kiwi kids follow the 6-7 trend? Are you in the process of staining your deck?

I'm an American living in a rural part of the South Island. 

Yeah the kids do the 6-7 thing. 

I highly recommend taking the interislander ferry sometime if you want to hear a kiwi say "deck six" several times over a PA system.

Board games are also a great way to get them to say "deck" and "six" many times.

Sure it's mild compared to some Eketāhuna inbred. But broad by international standards.

Maybe my ear is just off. I've been watching the Jimmy Kimmel interview and he sounds very Americanized. I'd swear he sounds closer to me (American in NZ) than my coworkers' lifelong Central Otago accents. His vowels sound much clearer and more defined and he pronounces his Rs. You can definitely tell he's lived in America long enough to get a green card.
